- A review of the artist guitars brownburst 58 es335 style guitar with bullbucker pickups and a hard case for about $550AUD. Dirt cheap!!
Artist guitars offer affordable Chinese made guitars. They ship across Australia and provide great customer service with an excellent returns policies and satisfaction guarantees.
The guitar I received had problems but it may not reflect all artist guitars products. They offered to replace the guitar in this video and I chose to keep it.

Thanks for the honest review. Looking for a review on these re the build quality and you answered my questions.
Thanks for watching mate. There aren’t enough honest reviews on TH-cam, so I appreciate your comment!
Finally!!! A review where Artist guitars didn’t pay the reviewer in guitars!! A mate of mine said their guitars are great as long as you go in store to pick out and inspect the guitar you take home. If you can’t at least they have a good return policy. Good review thanks
You’re spot on and I’m glad you got something out of the video. Thanks for watching mate!
Good honest review thank you. As is the case with a lot of asian imported guitars it can be a gamble in terms of the quality, however the exceptional returns policy that you mentioned Artist Guitars offer really does cover this scenario. If the guitar is a dud and can't be rectified with a little knowlege and tlc just send it back for either a replacement or a full refund. Back in early November 2022 I took delivery of an Artist Black58 es335 style guitar. This guitar is the more non delux basic version that comes with the vintage sounding lower output VLPA Humbuckers which for my needs sound great and to my mind are more suited to this style of guitar. I was lucky I guess because it has no issues or blemshes and the action was setup well, I did need to fine tune the intonation and adjust the pickup heights just as I've had to do over the years with far more expensive guitars. All in all a guitar with well waxed pickups and so no feedback or squeeling, a nice strait dark eco-rosewood dot marker inlayed fretboard with no sharp fret ends and reasonable tone and switching contols quality for 299.00AU delivered is very hard to beat. Cheers.
Thanks watching, Tim. Completely agree with your points. 👍🏼
I bought an Artist tele and strat.
Playabailty wise the Tele is as good as any Fender Tele i have tried. Pickups are fine for me as i dont gig.
I returned the strat though. Played nice but sounded mushy when playing chords.
Its a no brainer to try one as the return process was super easy.
Absolutely!!
Great review. I just purchased an Artist Guitars Baritone (on its way to me now). I’m coming from playing bass with a very heavy Kramer with an aluminium neck, so the weight doesn’t put me off. I was intrigued about the build quality, but for $299 for the Baritone it falls into my price bracket as something to learn and experiment on. My main concerns were the pick-ups and how they play, and by all reports (including this review), they do have playability and half decent pick-ups that will work for me.
Hope it works out for you! Thanks for watching mate
Hi from NZ, I have one of these guitars which I purchased " 2nd hand " although it was actually new so I was able to give it a thorough inspection and trial. I have owned Gibsons and Fenders and rate the Artist as right up there for quality and sound at the price. Maybe I got a Tuesday one too !!! It plays extremely well but I do agree about the weight. I may get my Luthier to tweak a few things but overall very good value for money. Cheers, John
Thanks for sharing! I might keep a look out for 2nd hand artists guitars. Seems people are having a lot of luck with them 😊
Thank you for your review. it seems the quality of your guitar is not up scratch. But I have the 58 Deluxe in the Red and its great. Build and finish is great and I bought mine as a second as it has a small blemish on the headstock which is not noticeable. Regarding the weight, I agree its a little heavy, but I find it no different to a Les Paul.
True! Les Pauls are just heavy.
👍👍. I have a Walnut58 standard one... I think it was nz$350 special.... I guess it was put together on a Tuesday coz quality is fantastic...just got a set of P90's and upgraded pots from Guitar Fetish to put in for not a whole lot of dollars..... Also have a Gnosis6 from them.... that was 3 hundy... again absolutely fantastic and a very versatile guitar.... interested to see what you do with this..cheers
Yeah seems hit and miss! Glad you re happy with yours. I’ve seen a few secondhand ones and they look pretty good overall. I might have gotten a bad apple!
I own 8 Artist guitars there all great no problems at all .. No i have not been paid by Artist ..
Haha!! I have no doubt their guitars are good. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
I was lucky enough to pick up 2 of these guitars brand new in there cases and not a scratch on either of them for $200 for both at salvation army store couldn't believe my luck
In my opinion i reckon there an excellent guitar they sound great.
That’s a story to tell the grandkids! They’re good guitars. But still recommend checking them out before committing! In saying that 200 for 2 is a stellar deal!

Thanks
360p???
Fretboard is NOT Ebony. It's 'Eco-Rosewood'... (A composite)
"Melted plastic along the fret edges" ? 🤣🤣 Good grief, do more research. This is a high-end method employed by high-end guitar makers such as Gibson. Called fret-nibs.
Edit: Locking tuners are not for tuning stability, they are for ease/speed of string changes. Wood still moves, necks still need adjustment from time to time, nuts can still pinch..etc. Locking tuners are nice, but don't mean your guitar stays in tune better than a guitar without them..
As far as weight goes, mate - these are the same weight as the Gibson 335s.. 7-8lbs (3.5-4kgs)
Thanks for taking the time offer your feedback!
