    Thanks for this. A couple years ago, I felt under my seat and found this filter. I told my mechanic and they were baffled. They had no idea how to change it. I ordered the filter, and maybe now I can change it.

    Gr8 video. I removed no issues. Replacing Issues … I created. Details nah ego prevents dat. But all’s well after re-watching your video. Confess putting in passenger side was more challenging, but persistence pays. Again Thank you excellent learning. Ps must be replaced. I went charcoal filter cut out Velcroed to filter frame. Now I can pull charcoal filter out, replace. Velcro $8, charcoal filter sheet $9. Now I replace whenever. Cheap, effective, reusable/replaceable homemade filters.

      Glad you got it sorted out! And yeah, when it comes to filters we can definitely come up with some homemade solutions. The filter is to simply prevent things from getting into the fan. Great job!

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! Without the filter the fan that's in there can get gummed up and stop working prematurely is what I've heard. That kinda makes sense I guess. But I think it's primarily to just filter the air that goes through the seat.

    I've got an '02, would replacing the front seat filters improve the performance and flow of the heated and ventilated seats? I'm pretty sure they haven't been swapped out since my family bought it in '04...

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! It's definitely worth a try. Do you have a UL? I assume you do if it's a pre-facelift with ventilated seats. Over time the seat cushion also breaks down and limits the flow. Changing the filter is the easiest, most cost-effective way though. You also get to clean some of the air in there as well. If that doesn't improve it much then the cushion would need to be replaced.

    • @DavidELD
      @DavidELD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ToolDeals Nah, not a UL, the Snowbird who owned the car before didn't spring for the extras, but the cushion probably is limiting the flow, it has over 430,000 km on it after all, but maybe one of the filters will help.

      So Sorry for the delay, it's just way too many comments to respond to across all the videos, but I actually used a Go Pro Hero8 Black in this video. Action cams are ok when the lighting is perfect. I really don't think there's a lot out there that can compete.
      However... low light situations offer poor performance for the most part and for that, frankly I just use a phone. My LG v60 films in 8K but I use 4K in low light situations and it's decent.
      I have SLR's but they are cumbersome to deal with, plus I'm terrified of dropping them! So if you primarily film during the day. I'd look into a Go Pro. They have the 9 on sale right now for $350 with 2 batteries, an sd card, some other accessory and a year's subscription to go pro which gives you an accidental warranty, so if you drop it and it breaks you get another one free.

    I just passed up an opportunity on an UL with a lot of my doubts around the inevitable air suspension swap. How has your experience been with the AS in your UL so far? What are the specs on yours?

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Aww man you listen to too many people on the internet! It's been fine. Car has 194K and been in the rust belt its whole life. No issues at all. My LX470 also has an oil suspension. It's a 2001 with 138K on it, again, never any issues at all with it.
      If it goes out on either, you just swap it out with some USED stock coilovers and some new struts and new shocks. You can get all that for around $350. The UL has so much more to offer than the other trims (minus the CL). I wouldn't buy anything other than a CL or UL if I ever bought another one. They got the better color woods and have double-stitched leather all throughout with suede headliner, soft close doors, and double paned glass.
      If you're in the LS430 group on Facebook, or even these forums, you gotta keep in mind. Most people are going to praise what they could afford. They'll say everything else is bad simply because they think they can't afford it. It's like the Playstation vs. Xbox wars. It's so dumb. Xbox is miles ahead of Playstation and you know why I can say that? Because I own both! Others will just scream Playstation because it's more popular and that's all they could afford, one system. Same goes with these used cars.
      There was a deal for a UL in Illinois somewhere at a dealer asking $4K. It looks like it needs new suspension. Grab that one cheap and swap them out and now you have a UL without the AS and never have to worry about it, and super cheap! I thought about getting it just to flip.

    • @daffyduckphd
      @daffyduckphd 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ToolDeals Absolutely correct. UL is called UL for a reason: it’s the “Top of the top” … it doesn’t get any better. I bought a 2001, yeah I’m sucker for superstition, sing it Stevie. Anyway Y2K was a joke, 2001 Silver Lexus LS 430 black interior with that special cherry wood-shameless display of classic. Air suspension issues? I say nada. You’ve bought a $80,000 car ! $80,000.00 for $4100.00 that’s not bought that’s a gift from God. And IF IF l had suspension issues… so what this is an $80,000.00 car that I could never afford and unfortunately will out live me !!! But I’ll be crusin in it to my funeral.

      Good question! I have 1 more video to film then I'll start making videos on the cars through and through. But the pre-facelift only has it if you have an Ultra Luxury. Easiest way to tell if you'd have a filter under your seat is if you have cooled seats. If you do, the filter is there, if they're just heated or have nothing, then the filter isn't there.

As for the ES, you might want to try sliding the seat all the way forward and try sticking your head in the footwell to see underneath with a flashlight. Or, try moving it all the way back and looking under it from the backseat. Hope that helps!

    • @ToolDeals

      That's a great question! There's a fan in the seat that provides the cooling. After looking at my dirty filter, it had a lot of hair and random debris on it. If there was no filter, that hair and debris could've wrapped itself around the fan causing it to move slower which would ultimately result in needing a new assembly.

      Yeah, they ain't cheap! But should probably only need to be changed every 50K or so.

    Where’d you get the filters from ?

      Links are in the description. Some were from eBay some from mylparts.com. I have the links directly to the filters in the description though so you don't have to fiddle around with part numbers.
