Major Paint Defects On A 249 Mile 2020 Bentley Continental GT | Ceramic Coating | Black Paint

  • Our client recently brought a 2020 Bentley Continental GT into our shop. Despite its low mileage of only 249 miles, the car had some significant issues. We spent nearly 40 hours polishing the car to restore its appearance to better-than-new condition. After the polishing was complete, we applied Modesta ceramic coating to further enhance the car's appearance and protect it from future damage.

      What was the verdict on the fuel door? Was it over spray, a repaint? Was it pitting from from water being in an air line? I polished an e55 Amg for a friend last spring that he knew had some repainted areas, and it was easy to tell what was resprayed by all the pitting. Another detailing classic! This had to be the dealership and sales guy cutting the corner. It amazes me that dealerships that sell high end don't simply invest in either onsite Detailers or outsource to a professional and reputable company. Selling a $200k+ car like that is simply indefensible. Even better looking back at this a 2nd time!

      I work in a Bentley Dealership bodyshop and can tell you some brand new cars come to us in pretty rough shape. Many factors in transport to the dealership, many time cars are damaged in transit or at the port that vehicle is unloaded at. Some have sand marks in the paint the factory never buffed out all the way. I have a customers 2020 Aston Martin in the shop that looks like a five year old car it's so dirty. Our detailers take the time to make the car right, i can't say what other dealers do.

    That edge marking looks like it would be from the protection wraps n adhesive - I often come across it on the Audi’s we prep for sale, particularly the RS3s round the black window trims. Bentleys, Lambos, Maseratis etc always require a bit of work fresh off the boat where I work in regards to paint correction. My foreman had to educate me bout it coz I always thought they came perfect from the factory. I recently only just started doing Maserati ‘exotics’ while I’m learning still bout correction etc but the more experienced Detailers get the bigger stuff.
    One thing I noticed is a lot of Dealer detailers don’t give a shit coz it’s just a paycheck to them & the format being a numbers game to the bosses, they don’t really care bout the issues customers are unlikely to pick up on. Most of the people where I work do care, so we notice it when we have to fix other’s fkups from external dealerships if a ‘dealer swap’ car etc.

    Stock paint on cars sucks, motorcycles too. Harley-Davidsons black paint is a prime example. Black in general is not a kind color four defects, being there almost every Harley-Davidson is black it really shows.

    Dealership abuse plus customer should never have accepted the car in that condition (state). It wouldn't have left Crewe like that....not a chance. It doesn't matter how much you pay for a new car, you'll always get a thick cleaner / valeter wash it with a nylon broom.

  • @bmused55
    @bmused55 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why would anyone accept a brand new car in that state? One look at it and I'd say "NOPE".
    This was likely a dealer contracted detailer who is cheap for a reason.

    Those marks are from the wash bay guy. Seems like every dealership no matter of status has a dungeon wash bay with a slop bucket and a sand riddled rag that wasn't replaced or washed for weeks. Everytime its "the car was swirled when you brought it here". And the wash bay guy's job is to deface people's car paint all day long.

    I really do not understand, how is it possible that such an exclusive brand does not take sufficient care at the time of delivery by its dealers? Is it inadmissible that in such an expensive vehicle it has so many defects in its paint (which is not exactly of poor quality or "average") or does the buyer not care to receive his bentley (or any exclusive brand) almost like a jewel?

    I work at Bentley Crewe. Cars have an extensive pre delivery inspection in a light tunnel. The cars are then fitted with paint protection panels and a full car cover for transportation. The dealership will then remove the panels and prepare the car for customer hand over. There is no way a car would get through both processes unchallenged. The cars are perfect at the point of hand over The factory and the dealers are scored on these things There is no way the car was handed over in this condition nor would the owner accept the car in this condition This damage has occurred during its low mileage ownership. Probably damaged by a contaminated polishing pad at an independent car cleaning facility One wash can ruin a car regardless of manufacturer Ask yourself why the car is being detailed independently at the owner’s cost and has not gone back to the dealership for paint rectification under warranty ?

    If you buy a nee cheap car and there are some paint issues you have every right to get them fixed. If you are in a position to afford a Bentley and it has so many issues that car goes back to the dealership with quite a number of choice words. That car should not have issues like that.

    Bentley needs to review their relationship with the dealer that let this car go to a client in this condition. Overspray from a body shop on a car with 260 miles on it.
