I have one of these. This figure is really good. I love the jaw articulation. It reminds me of the 2007 Transformers “Automorph technology” gimmick or the 2009 “Mech alive” gimmick.
They still gotta make number 10 from gvk so he’ll probably be the 2.0 mould. Let’s hope we get the long tongue piece too. And the tail could be a little longer too The jaw membrane will probably be two seperate pieces that look like a single bit like what Mattel does
@@The_Barroth that's my hope too... that by the time they put out Mechagodzilla, they're also gonna do an updated Skullcrawler for it to "play" with ehe
This is easily one of my favorite Hiya releases so far. The cons to me feel like they are outweighed by the pros overall and I'm very happy to finally get an official Skullcrawler with a nice range of movement and to scale with a KSI Kong. I really hope Hiya does a Number 10 from GvK (if they improve the jaw membrane that'd be a bonus).
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a review from you on a figure that I managed to already pick up myself. Thanks for the warning on the webbing in the mouth. I noticed it too when I unboxed it last night and thought that it looks very delicate and not built to last long. I agree on the neck not looking down far enough that definitely needs improvement. I also think the bendy wire could be extended a bit more inside the tail so more of the tail tip can bend. An alternate head with a battle damaged eye would’ve been nice but it is what it is. Maybe we’ll see improvements on a future release. Like maybe the skull crawler from GVK will have a figure with the improvements and maybe they’ll re-release this one as a 2.0 like with GVK Godzilla.
Despite the mouth membrane ripping a bit I just think of as battle damage. Thanks STR for the review and that I will be careful of certain things of the Skull Devil/Crawler, but that membrane yeah that's going to happen on mine as well.
This is more than likely my next cop (I just got ghidorah), my question is since the mouth rubber seems dehydrated, would it be smart to pour some water in there… just curious
@@MemeinAndDreamin someone’s gotta ask these questions 🤷♂️ had a glimmer of hope it would be a silly yet working mod for a hiya figure, like stuffing paper towel into hiya 2021 kong’s abdomen ball socket actually gives him more range
1. No, water wouldn't work. As it evaporates it'll take more with it dehydrating it further. This is why you don't put water on chapped lips. Use oil. 2. Read part 1. That doesn't mean to do this. I mentioned it *feels* like it, to be clear, that doesn't mean it is. If you try it, good luck~ 3. Wtf with the paper towels and Ghidorah? You can't move yours or something?
@@StevensToyReviews nah my ghidorah is fine 😭 I was talking about 2021 Kong, where his upper chest / ab crunch is very limited. You take a blow dryer to heat him up and take him apart, stuff some paper towel down in the ball socket, and put him back together, and boom it unlocks a little bit more range in his upper body. It’s because the ball socket itself is too deep or something. An odd little modification but I tried it and it works well. But thanks for the info, I thought about buying two ramarak’s to paint one into that red crawler from GvK, so if I do wind up trying the oil method I’ll do it on that. Sorry if that was confusing btw ☠️
See, the only issue I've had with mine is the tail popped off. As in, the glued in portion that slots the ball joint into the plastic tail connector. Aside from that, love the figure, planning on using it for my D&D campaigns honestly works perfectly in size
Much thanks steven! I was looking at this figure online and I feel a little more confident in trying to get this guy. I lowkey hope they come out with the Red Apex version and perhaps take that opportunity to improve on this sculpt, definitely removing the rubberized mouth would be a good next step.
I have a lose arm joint on my s.h g 1989 it just pops out when it moves could applying clear nail polish on the ball joint on the arm would that work? Also is clear nail polish just like Norma nail polish or it a top coat?
If you can I would to see a review from you of the Storm Collectibles Yujiro Hanma. I feel like you’ll have a lot of fun reviewing that one 😊 After seeing this one I can’t wait down the line for upgrade/variant of this one. I would consider buying.
That neck looking down is really essential for this guy being held in the air by Kong to remake the pose in the film when they are fighting. Shame, still cool looking though but would have been nice to get that pose
I absolutely love it i was the most exited opening this action figure then eny other in a long time I have two and am going to get three hiya reminds me of sh monster arts and neca combined
I'm sure at this point everyone already noticed Hiya's business model. Why all the price are the same regardless of size (except Shimo and Ghidorah), paintjob, and accessories. Why the abundant amount of repaints. Why not just include accessories with the one single ver, instead of releasing a completely new figure. It's all by the end of the day to keep the business profittable while pleasing the fans. Whether we like it or not, we're not the main source of income, it's always the general market, and they aren't as critical as we are. It's more profittable to don't spend any money fixing what the general market still buys, even at the cost of the fans hating you. Like a certain company do. Hiya, capitalized on the intimacy with fans, making us feel special cuz they hear us, they care for our opinion. In the long run, us fans ended up being more loyal to them and willing to support them. Now how do they keep such a model profittable. Fixing stuff where they could've sold it as is, or giving a shot designs that aren't legacy/household names. Well, by compensating the loss, obviously. Making everything the same price regardless isn't really a new model, as Marvel Legends had done this. Selling the supposed cheaper figure at the same price as a more standard size figure would give an extra bits of profit that they could put into production of new sculpts. Selling their figures at a cheaper price also help out increasing sales number, I suppose. I wouldn't be surprised if Goji was supposed to be $60, atomic and burning being $70, but they made them cheaper and compensate it with the numbers of units they'll sell. Added to this is reusing molds. Why not just include the beam with the standard one, why made a lot of repaints. Simple, for more profit. Molds reusage are the backbone of a toy company. The issues to me was never reuse in and of itself, but reuse a flawed mold that could've been improved first. Why they didn't just gave Ghidorah his beam right off the bat. Cuz it's a repaint opportunity, and Ghidorah does have somewhat of a glow when shoot his beams, so it's not tha questionable why it's its own release like atomic breath Goji. Yes, either one of these three models (selling it at the same price, increase the production number in favor of a cheaper figure, and mold reusage) could sustain the company, but to make it profittable and able to give fanservice (fixing/updating molds, making niche kaiju) would require more money on the bank. I guess that's why I'm ok with their business models thus far, cuz by the end of the day it'll come back to me in form of their future releases. When the feedback loop stops, that's when I'll stop defending and supporting Hiya's business model. It might happen eventually, but for now I'll enjoy this line and support it as much as I can. Also I feel like the communist price are helpful for the customers too. As they would've known the figure price faar before it even existed. Thus they could already predict the amount of money they need to saved up for later releases. As suppose to being jumpscared by the differing price.
@VYDEOS2 stop yapping, shma gxk godzilla is so mid, it's literally the same sculpt as shma g21 + repaint. The only bonus you're getting with it is the fact that the tail moves better and the beam actually comes this time. Hiya is literally better in every department but articulation
