I saw someone else’s video on this and was INSTANTLY struck on how gorgeous it is. Makes me wish I was still into collecting this stuff.
It's only 120 bucks! That's very fair for a figure like them other than uh *cough* *cough* that 300 or smth bucks for sh monsterarts ghidorah...

@@Randomgames3406 SHMA one was $240 retail. Chad Hiya over here selling Ghidorah for half the the damn price with more articulation, better paint apps and a far more accurate sculpt. AND foldable wings that can hold positions without toppling over. Virgin SHMA doesn't even look like the movie design, it's a weird clusterfuck of the concept art and a bits and pieces of the final render. Joints that pop off like crazy and can't stand up for shit. I'll give them the SCV was an improvement over the original in terms of quality control and a more visually appealing paint job but it still pales in comparison to what I'm seeing from Hiya.

@@panduallen6712 That "night version" 2019 goji they released a couple months ago had to be the biggest joke I've ever seen from SHMA. Thing falls apart and it looks like someone just splashed dull blue paint from Walmart on it. The audacity to release that disaster of figure for $80 bucks when Hiya has a heat ray Godzilla for half the price is just embarrassing.

Having had both SHMA Ghidorah 2019 figures before selling them, Hiya's isn't just as good. It's LEGIONS better. Hiya just straight up embarrassed SHMA in every department with Ghidorah. I never thought a company could do that, and for half the price. Which is saying something because SH used to the top dogs when it came to Godzilla figures.
250? Sh monsterarts ghidorah is nowhere near 250. It is a horrible figure but it costs the same as hiya

SH already lost. I sold mine last month to make room for this one. Chad Hiya just gangfucked SHMA in every conceivable department. Even outside of Ghidorah, Hiya is doing what both NECA and SHMA failed to do, and that is expand their monsterverse figure lines. NECA didn't even make Ghidorah, their Rodan was ugly but their mothras were pretty serviceable. SHMA keeps banking on rehashing that god awful GvK sculpt and besides Kong they only made figures of the Toho monsters.
The best part of Hiya entering the Godzilla figure scene is that the low prices and stellar figures might actually push SHMA into making better Monsterverse figures for cheaper in order to compete. If thats the case, which I hope it does for Tamashi’s sake, can’t wait to see what they could potentially put out in the future. As for now though, beautiful beautiful figure! I preordered mine from BBTS and I can’t wait for it to come in

The joint you refered to as the “ankle” is actually the toes. The joint above is the ankle, and the joint above that is the knee. Same goes for any other animal or monster with a similar leg design. Hope that helps 👍

When folding the wings would you say it’s best to start with the top section then downward or vice versa? In terms of avoiding scrapings and the figure to fall over on you.
Yes, top and move down. Swing that out of the way and the readjust and collapse inwards.
Hiya King Ghidorah is herby proclaim as "The Best Figure of the Year 2023". Nice review and can't wait for 2024 and see what is in store for us.

It would be cool if his wings had a elboow joint so you can get those wings into some more wing posing but i absolutely still love how it turns out as i never seen a dragon with wing possiblity

Some great accessories would have been the skull of the Ghidorah that appeared Godzilla vs Kong that was used to control Mecha Godzilla, some lightning effects , and the Argo ship
There will definitely be a V2 to refine those weaknesses.

This figure is so good but I am even more content that Hiya heard the reviews and are releasing a V2 with a more Golden coloring to resemble more his original coat and as bonus we get Gravity Beams for technically the same prize and still under SHMA. Hiya is winning in every head to head Kaiju collection figure.

Just got the hiya ghidorah. I also have the S.H. Monsterarts. Hiya version is superior. It also can stand without being braced. Without the stands, the S.H. version falls flat on its face.
Incase anyone here doesnt know the wing fingers have grooves that allow all of the wing segments to slot together and support eachother which prevents drooping in the wings splayed pose
Figure fight coming up? Also i did notice that you can plug all the wing sections into each other so that solves the drooping issue and it helps the wing look more solid
I'm very curious if we'll get another version that will have some updated articulation or just a different variant with accessories...because I do want this. Just not sure if I should wait it out though.

@@GojiraFan-in9ooMy MonsterArts Mecha-Godzilla 2021's perfectly fine. Hasn't broken on me. He's actually fun to have. Hiya Rodan's ugly as fuck. Muddy, splotchy paint & I hate the wire in the wings. I much prefer the burgundy-maroon & black colors on the MonsterArts & before u bitch about the ''lack of lava paint." I painted orange on the edge of his wings & tail on mine. No big deal, dude. The ''burnt husk of jerky" that u described the MonsterArts would apply moreso to NECA's pathetic Rodan figure.
@@BladeAllen666 Yeah. I've seen early copies with sloppy paint, especially the ones on the beak, which is why I'm waiting for the flameborn version, but the Hiya Rodan still has the best sculpt of the 3 and is the most accurate.
And in terms of Mecha G, even looking past the breaking risk, not enough accessories, it needs the red highlights all throughout the body, and the articulation could have been better

The neck articulation is pretty underwhelming, especially compared to what the SCV shma can do. Also a bummer the head sculpts aren't that good/suffering from lack of QC, considering how great the Godzilla ones are, but at least they're painted. The body sculpt is excellent but i wish they went with a different underbelly color, something about it seems off. With that said, pretty insane value for money, still a fantastic figure.

A figure I hope Hiya Toys makes is a Gravity Beam King Ghidorah with the same color scheme except this time they use yellow translucent plastic in the necks to show the charge up look Ghidorah is seen to have in movie and head with translucent yellow eyes like he had in the poster or movie and finally his gravity beam effect parts for each head and possibly some effect parts for the wings, that would be amazing and something sh monsterarts had never done.

Got the new 91 for preorder. Hopefully the wing joints will be strong. My shma wings had to be glued or they sagged
I had both shma 2019 ghidorahs. The original one annoyed me so much i sold it. The gold one isn't bad. The hiya will be a good replacement
On a side note, in the fully expanded form, the wing segments tab into one another to create 1 solid wing sort of like the shm version so that the wings are less fiddly. Less only to some degree because anytime you have wings this size, there is no getting around the fiddle factor.

Thanks for the review. With the QC issues noted, I decided to canceled my old pre-order and pre-order from the second batch that just went up on Awesome Collector.
Interesting, didn't know there was a second run. The issues I would say that are more so really problematic are design flaws, maybe they can be worked out?
If Hiya has proven anything, it’s that they take our feedback and use it to improve their figures. I have no doubt they’ll do another Ghidorah someday. But for now, this seems to be the definitive MV Ghidorah for our shelves.

The only thing I dislike about the two is that Rodan is much larger than they made him he is almost half the size of ghidorah bc if you watched Kotm then you would see why, just look at Isla Demara when rodan and ghidorah clashed over the water

If they had kept the showa-era inspired mains on the character this actually would have been my favorite get Dora design but because they took that out and only really have it in one scene due to an editing error this guy gets put in the same place as 90% of the other different designs

I'm busy on making a stop motion series featuring Godzilla, and I was conflicted on making either Ghidorah or Ultima the series finale villain, and I ended up settling on Ultima.
*God,* Hiya's Ghidorah makes me wish I settled on him instead.

Not ridiculous at all; this just came out and they get their through US distribution. They noted in their listing Q4 of last year, which was best case scenario. They should have it later this month.

Hiya Toys Ghidorah is such a vast improvement to the SHMA Ghidorah. Better sculpt, more articulation, a VASTLY superior paint job, and significantly cheaper.

@@Nicolos117 How is it cheaper when it's nowhere near $150 or more in price 🤣, original sh monsterarts ghidorah was over 150 and nearly 200. SCV ghidorah was over 250 and nearly 300. You can get hiya ghidorah for 120 and that's STILL cheaper. Also...how is having...you know ACTUAL articulation in the wings to make them fold=less articulation?

I just ordered mine on entertainment earth, can’t wait to for it to arrived
I just got mine from BBTS today and.....im kinda bummed. The wings are a nightmare to fold. They just will not compact despite moving the ball/swivels correctly. It's like there not enough clearance. On top of that the tail tip kept popping out. The stands are garbage too. The base screw just will not tighten and the stands just slide like a wet noodle. The icing on the cake is all 3 heads of mine have massive underbite to the point where it looks goofy. So far i've been real happy with Hiya's figures so I was just really disappointed when I realized I had less issues with the SHMA despite being inaccurate.
I’m feeling the same, just got mine today & I can’t get the tails attached no mattter how much I heat up the pegs, also they forgot to include the stands in my copy. I was so excited for this figure but these issues just left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m seriously considering just returning the thing.

I’ve always considered buying the SHMA King Ghidorah 2019 SCV for awhile but after seeing Hiya Toys’ King Ghidorah, I’m definitely gonna buy that instead of SHMA

Hiya obliterates SHMA in their respective MV lines. There’s absolutely no contest
But there is. Sh Kong goes for half the price and it is miles better. Sh godzilla 2019 looks so much better than the hiya godzilla 2021 and 2019 but it is double the price. The sh mothra and rodan look better than the hiya versions as well. The only figure that sh can’t compete in is the 2019 ghidorah. But if you look at the other sh 1991 ghidorahs, hiya is much worse. And don’t start lying about the prices. If you want to get the hiya ghidorah, you still have to sell an organ. It costs 150 on a good day. The sh monsterarts version is selling for the same amount and less since people don’t want it. The sh monsterarts godzilla 2019 goes for 120 dollars and the 2019 hiya goes for 60. But hiya really can’t make good basic Godzillas. They always have busted faces and paint.
there definitely is a contest. the SHMA 2019 Ghidorah looks better. especially the special color version. this wing design on the hiya is total jank. it looks awful. they should have just done solid wings and later do a folded wing ceawling variant because this looks awful.
i'll stick with the SHMA ghidorah.

oh god, now this makes me nervous. especially the head issue. I don't think the store I pre-ordered it from got direct contact to hiya. if I got the bad headsculpt, I dunno what I should do. ppl rarely sell hiya toys here, let alone replacement part. if I buy it from overseas, I might as well just buy another figure as shipment to here reached $100. I might ended up have to buy a completely new figure, but even that is a gamble whether I won't get the flawed one or not. considering you said it yourself that hiya notices this is an issue and thus already prepared replacement parts, that means it's a high possibility to happen and rather frequent. god, I hope mine is perfect. I've been supporting the line this whole time, pre-ordering hiya's every releases, but now it kinda scares me if such an issue like the head not even being recognizable as the character issa thing, makes me nervous about all releases down the line. Steven's and Rob's take seems to be that the pros by the end of the day still outweights the cons, but for me personally if I got those screwed up ones, it'll ruin my entire experience and future expectation
Personally? I wouldn't worry about it. They may do a repaint, like with beams. There ya go.

I get that qc issue issa given for a mass-produced releases, but I thought Hiya could do faar better than SHMA. After all, up to this point I only got one single issue in only one Hiya figure and that is a single dumbell joint on 2019's tail. I'm happy that Hiya is successful and thus producing larger quantity of figures, but I do hope they don't rush it and skipping on some qc

Its honestly kinda sad the state of most godzilla figures. Id love to have a good godzilla on my shelf but almost everything on sale is pretty rough and way too expensive. For a long time i though momster arts was way bigger, i collected dbz figuarts for a while, seeing them for like half the price of monster arts i assumed they were like twice the size
