Standing in Goodwill so my niece can do some shopping, and I’m flicking Vases as I watch my toddler play with the toys. I think it’s time I start collecting to honor my mother(God rest her beautiful soul!!!), because she collected Crystal throughout my childhood, and even named me Crystal because of her love for Crystal. Thanks for the tips!!
I recently acquired an American Brilliance cut crystal bowl with similar patterns for $12.99 at a local charity thrift shop. It's one of my best finds and is one of my favorite pieces.
I recently found 2 huge queen's lace pieces one is a very large and tall on a pedestal vase and the other a shallow bowl on a pedestal they're absolutely beautiful both match and have a very fine cuttings of a very lacy design.
I have a similar bowl that would date back to the early 1900’s I have a similar bowl that I inherited from my grandmother and it would date back to the early 1900’s. What are the 4 compartments intended for and what would be the style of the bowl? Any idea of the value? It seems to me that this heavy cut glass is very undervalued considering the amount of work to create the items.
This was exactly the video I needed, thank you so much! I'm about to start selling vintage and antique items on Instagram and I've got so many random glass/crystal pieces, this will help me tons!
Hello& thank you for this video as it's quite informative 🙏🏼 Question for you would you be able to tell me what type of glass I have if I sent you a photo of this pitcher I own?
It is perfectly safe to use for serving purposes but do not store food or liquid long term in lead crystal as the lead can leech out into the food/liquids. I have some crystal decanters that are safe to serve from but not safe to store alcohol in.
Not necessarily. I have several pieces of Waterford crystal, and they are not sharp to the touch. I also have an American brilliant glass oval bowl, and it does have sharpness to the touch, especially with the saw-tooth edging. Also, my American brilliant glass bowl is cut much deeper than the Waterford pieces, so that probably has something to do with feeling some sharpness. The American brilliant glass bowl that I have may not have any lead content, not sure. It doesn't have the same sound of bell-like "ping" as my lead crystal pieces.

And when pinged it resonates

I have a very similar piece. This is the first one I have ever seen like it!

Thanks for your information on lead crystal glass
You described the difference very well :)
Make sure the glass is crystal and can ding before you try making announcements at the weddings!
but use lead and antimony free!
So I think I know how to identify crystal but they never have any markings, so I don't know what I am holding?
Doesn't work 100% of the time, but Google Image has helped me out a few times with identifying pieces.
Can younplease putbthe light under please i wanna see the shadow
That's a gorgeous dish!
what does it means on the glass Genuine Lead 24% Cristal D'Arques France Glasses-. Gen
Awesome!
So its not safe for use because of lead 😢

Honestly there is probably more lead in the food we eat than what would leech out of these dishes.
Recently bought an intricately cut wine glass and I’m starting to think I found a nice antique crystal
So I keep seeing what I believe is great crystal at my local thrifts but I don't buy it for resell because I have no idea what I am selling. Any tips?
Cut crystal fruit bowl from beginning to end
Isn’t crystal sharper to the touch

Not necessarily
I keep seeing contradicting statements on this so I think sharpness or roundness is not a reliable indicator by itself.
