OH MY GOODNESS my head is spinning with all of the possibilities. I see myself using this for SO MANY things, even stuff like creating sets of documents to easily share with a client at different stages of a project. *MIND BLOWN*
I'm new to Milanote. But, I stumbled across a shortcut while playing around. If you hold down *SHIFT* and roll your Mousewheel, you will scroll the Board left and right when you're zoomed into the Board.. (I'm on a Mac.). Thanks so much for this video. I've written down your tips and tricks.
I saw this on another channel and then here, but it wasn't until I saw how you actually used it in real life (in the other vid) that I was like, OK! I can really see the potential here!! Thanks for the great vids!
I've watched 4 or 5 videos, including one from Milanote and yours was the best! I'm using it for interior design, so knowing how to create a color palette was especially helpful for me. Thanks, great work!
Definitely a better tutorial/presenter than most. Any chance you could do Framer, Thunkable, Softr, FlutterFlow? Most are not that great at articulating how to work w/ their systems. But this one was great!
@@MichelleRamos-cp1qt For "Convert to long form," I believe that's now "Convert to document," which you access by right clicking on a note. It should be the option at the very bottom of the menu that pops up. For "add a description," I'm not sure you can do that in a basic note anymore. If you create a link and click on it, you'll see "Description" in the side bar, and if you create an image, you'll see "Caption" in the side bar. But basic notes do allow you to use a range of text styles, and there is a "small text" option, so you could perhaps use that to create the same effect.
Criminy! I literally just learned about Milanote an hour ago from the Film Riot channel, but your video sealed the deal. I just signed up for a free account to start working on my own. Thanks!
This, and the primer video referenced above, were great introductions for me to Milanote as the company I just joined uses it. Great content, great walkthroughs and truly useful tips and tricks. Now, if only the folks at Milanote would make it usable for iPad...
@@StephenGates hey stephen, wanted to check in as not seen you on here for a while - just wanted to make sure all is well and loved ones and you are ok
Not sure why they would've changed these commands, but the navigation shortcuts don't work for me. I love the app but it's weird how many basic features are still missing when considering it's been around for 5-6 years now.
This is an awesome presentation, and what got me to actually get the software & subscription. I think you actually kept this pretty interesting and compact. Not so sure if the person snoring between 13:40 - 13:55 in the video, found it interesting, though... lol
Thank you!!!!! sooooo muuuuchhh!!! I did a little experiment... you can also place .gif files into it, and worked really well! for me it is another way to have visual reference. Hope it helps someone! Peace!!
Great tips. Thank you. Now I just need to find an easy way to collaborate with my retainer clients. We struggle with notes just tucked everywhere because mobile wise you cannot add a comment. So they end up typing in a note already but not tagging me..so it just looks like an extension of my note magically appears or they create a new note that lives in unsorted and it's hard some times to recognize what hey are speaking about. Biggest issue to date. Lost communication.
I have experienced some of that. I would either make other boards for comments or have some rules about how we will use the boards to be able to deal with some of that. It is a big challenge in a tool where you can work any way you want that everyone will do it slightly differently without those rules.
It has for more. I don't think in clean, vertical, verbal formats like most apps use. I like to be able to take notes, move the ideas around and let them evolve over time.
@@StephenGates If your time slot is available, a comparative video review of those mind flow-track tools you have tried may lead to a new level in this field. Don't you think so? THX!
Great video, thanks for doing this. I just signed up for Milanote this morning. I’m a photographer and want to design a zine. I struggled all morning trying to resize images on my IPad. The resize area in lower right of image does not resize on IPad. I just saw you resize on your Mac and it looked so easy. I am using the free version to make sure it will work for me. Do you think this is a glitch or am I doing something wrong? Many thanks!!
The best version of Milanote is the app on the Mac, followed by the iPhone and app the iPad usability through the web portal is probably the worst. I struggle with it all the time which is why I pretty much use the Mac app all the time. I have given this feedback and an iPad app is supposed to be in the works.
I Just got Milanote today, I’m using it as an interior decorating board...this extra stuff you explained made me smile like a Cheshire Cat;-) Please keep them coming. Thanks so much! Would I be able to use this the same way as final draft? A visual version though?
Thanks so much. You might be able to use it the same way as final draft as there are a lot of different want to use it. Would depend on a few variables but I use it for everything.
please add a voice recording. Most ideas I get when I'm driving. Voice is the safest, and fastest way to Capture an idea, and it would be even more amazing, if after you finish recording somehow through the cloud translated to text as an option
Stephen, thanks for this and the prior video, I am much more excited to jump in and give this app a try! What app do you use for project management/tasks for you and your clients? Are you using Milanote for that also? Thanks again!
the title heading can be found by clicking on the 3 dots and you will see it there. its not the best place for it to be i must admit. milanote should sort that out.
years later and the video still rocks

This line tool is exactly what I’ve been looking for.
Thanks

There's no 'power ups' - did they take those away since this video is 3 years old? So you can no longer make your notes transparent?
It's now under Card Color, it's the option that looks like a light grey checkerboard
@@krystynaelyse do you know about the other power up's?

Thank you for solving the placeholder image mystery 🙌🏽

Since we can embed TH-cam videos that means we can create our own “tv guide” or “tv schedule” but for TH-cam videos instead?

Life with 2 pugs means it sounds like there is either a small chainsaw or someone snoring next to you at all time...
Is there a way simple to view all tasks assigned to me from various "projects" or boards without having to go into each board?

Thanks for the video!
It was a random guy showing me Milanote tips and tricks until about 15:43, when it became Jeff Goldblum teaching me Milanote tricks and tips 😂
It you do use Milanote still id love an update on this video!
This seems perfect - thank you for all your behind the scenes work to present this to folks. Is there any way to utilize a calendar within Milanote?
The best I have been able to do is put a link to an online calendar but there is not a way to have a dynamic connection that I know of
Yes. You can use darkmode on PC version as well.
Good to know! Thank you.
How can I install the powerups?
Just found you, glad I did - thanks.
Thank you..
Can you create shapes with Milanote?
Very cool 🤩

Wait..WHAT? 16:37 seconds! There is a hidden menu at In-N-OUT?
I kinda like Milanote but I don’t see a lot of difference from other map apps I have used. Plus I would like the option to store my data on my system.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. Nice to see real world examples and thought processes.
Glad it helped.
love the vide and the step by step. Do you think this app has potential to replace a note taking app?
It has for more. I don't think in clean, vertical, verbal formats like most apps use. I like to be able to take notes, move the ideas around and let them evolve over time.
Milanote you recommended is great and fits my mindflow soundly well. Do you know any other mindflow-track tools? THX!

Are there tables in Milanote? Can they be sorted? Filtered? Can you embed Notion databases in Milanote?
No. It can be searched but operated more like Post-it notes than a database.
Thanks for this ... super helpful! How do you approach archiving or removing boards once a project is complete? A simple export as a pdf maybe?
I keep an area for completed projects as I like having the archive to reference.

Thanks for sharing, Stephen. What app are you using for screen recording? I love the highlight+zoom function.
It's a combination of the the standard Apple screen recording with the Pro Mouse app that highlights the cursor, lets me zoom, etc.
