Fixing My Leaky Gas Tank - Can JB Weld Plug This Hole In The Fuel Tank Of My Old SUV / CSUV Vehicle?

  • Does JB Weld Tank Weld work? The Toyota RAV4 sprung a leak, a gas tank fuel leak and this is how I attempted to repair the problem using JB Weld.
    It's a two part epoxy putty stick that you mix with your hands until the putty is a consistent color and then press it into the hole, it's that easy!
    At some point I will have to replace this gas tank, but not today!! 😁
    So far so good! 👍🍻

    Unlike most gas cans with ‘safety valves’, this one is EASY to operate th-cam.com/users/postUgkx6IImIpPboNrtVJSROnpF9EnyBzRrJKP_ with one hand. Nudge the tab and press the thumb button (all with your thumb) and you’re filling your tank. I bought this to use with a pressure washer that needs frequent refilling and it’s been a blessing compared to most of the ‘safety cans’ being sold. ergonomic and easy to handle.

    First thing to do is protect the underbody by squirting drain oil EVERYWHERE. It won't bring metal back, but it will greatly retard the rust from spreading.

    JB Weld is awesome on everything I have used it on as long as you have the right stuff for the right application but they have a bunch of great products.

    @kovie9162 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So, did the JB-Weld putty last, 2 years in?
    Also, I'd put some plywood on top of those 2x4 pieces if you're going to put the scissor jack there. By themselves they could buckle in either direction. And, don't use WD-40 on rusty and stuck fasteners. Use a real penetration oil like PB Blaster. Finally I'd treat all that rust down there, with fluid film. Getting it all off, treating the bare metal then sealing it with something like POR-15 or epoxy paint would be ideal but it's very time-consuming (ask me how I know), so this would be a reliable shortcut.

    i would cordless drill wire brush it clean , run self tapping flat head sheet metal screw half way in then j.b. and finally gently tighten screw till just bottoms out then more j.b. should get you thru till you find better tank . * screw for stove flu should work nicely

But I'm in so much trouble if I can't get this fixed. Won't be able to get out and no one to plow. Everyone said they won't, long dirt road with lots of incline.

      Na, rub some of this around it , you can barely see it , I know I think it's the vent hose myself, we will see ...
      That connection has been bothering me , says he replaced it, but upon me looking it's not done.
      So, when he gets my gas gauge working again because he probably put the pump in the wrong direction? And it won't go past 3/4 and reads wrong now...ugh ..
