Even stock sounds good! One thing i learned is that you don't need to invest hundreds of dollars if you are new to building your first mechanical keyboards. I used the same boards and switch, added some pe foam and polyfill, got some spacebar dampners and mine is thocky heaven! I'm so happy with my keyboard! The GMK 67 is such an amazing budget-friendly board for new keyboard enthusiast , i hope ur video inspires new peeps to build their very first board too :)
I got my order sent today and I founded this video reeeeeeeeeeally helpfull, I needed a video to see what would be the final product after completing it. AND HERE YOU ARE! Thank you so much!
bro I have been trying to do a build like this but couldn't since the frame alone costed more than 45 bucks so thank you. Also clean build bro keep it up.
Your video encouraged me to enter the world of mechanical keyboards, at the beginning I had the same switches and the same keyboard the gmk67. It has been 5 months since I saw your video and I have gone from the KKT white to have several different switches, to currently the Jwick Vertex V1. Best regards. 😁
same, I modded mine the same but I use durock screw-in stabilisers (very good but not so perfect), didn't poke the tape(2-layer tape mod), my switches are Akko CS Snow Blue Grey Linears and GMK Olivia keycaps.
do you recommend the tape mod only if it really affects the keyboard sound? I am building one and I am not sure if I should bother taping it for starters or I will only if it really effects the sound in a sense that it will make it sound "poppier". I will either be using the Akko lavender pros or epomaker flamingo switches both in stock form. I'm aiming for a semi thock / clack sanding build and im not sure if the lavenders would be better just because they're tactile
Im gonnna be using the gmk67 zouya with ktt kang whites, Im going to try putting it together myself, even though I have a days worth of knowledge on keyboards and I use a hp 100% membrane keyboard so any tips could help ( even though I have a hot swappable gmk67, I dont know how to put switches on it, im guessing that you just put it on, any tips?)
Hi! Just a quick question, are you supposed to tear down that plastic? This is the only video of the newer versions of the keyboard I've seen do this and I have the exact same newer version. Would love your help! Amazing video!!
I actually realized since making this video that it's actually meant to be there. That being said, I understand that it's an acoustic option so it's no problem to remove it. I have another GMK67 on the way so I'm going to keep it on this one!
@@sc.studio Hi! I know this is a late reply, but I am in the same boat, and I do not know what to do with the plastic. Should I just punch the switches (not too hard because I don't want to mess up the pins obviously) through the plastic, or should I make a hole in the plastic with maybe tweezers? What if loose plastic is just hanging in that center hole- is that an issue? So many questions, SORRY!
@@LeeSCMi bought a gmk67 recently and I just punched the switch straight through the plastic there were no problems, the switch worked completely fine and nothing was bent even after taking the switch out
@@s1xty13 Hi! I wanted to come back to this and thank you again for the reassurance! I finally did my build, and the switches were a little annoying for me to do, but punching through the plastic worked fine! I will say, when I finished the build (used akko cream blues), my 'n' and 'v' keys weren't working, and when I pulled them out, both had bent pins. It looks like they didn't go fully through the plastic (and I'm not blaming anyone else but myself here, it's only my fourth build), but I put two new switches in and the board works perfectly now, and sounds great! Thank you for helping, and hopefully if anyone else gets worried this will reassure them (even though I'm sure I'm one of the very few who did worry)!
I think it's a PET film used to protect the pcb, you can take it out and put it on top of the pcb(?) so that the keyboard will have a more marbly/soft sound signature. This may not be intentional because it isnt mentioned in the site
I had it too. Latest gmk67 has been added little plastic sheet on the pcb which helps make sounds little be more deep and tht is also why its hard to in/out the switches first time. I recommend not to remove plastic sheet on the pcb if you have one
stabilizers kinda sound muchy, try using a less thick type of bandage, and try not to over lube the satbilziers or else they'll feel muchy and sticky but great build overall ;)
If you're standoffish about aliexpress but you're curious, one thing to look out for is orders. Next to the item you wanna buy it shows how many of that item the seller has sold. If the reviews are good and they've sold 1000s, that's probably a safe seller. Now, if the price looks too good to be true and the seller has only sold 1-3 items...that's a no-go for me.

You're absolutely right. Most of my prebuilt "cheap" keyboards sound and feel better than a lot more expensive prebuilds!
Thank you 😊😊
I just built one for myself last week. This keyboard sounds sooo good for the price, I love mine.
Ayy glad to hear it! Its an incredible board for the price 😻

Are the holes for the switches important? 4:01
Not important. At the time of filming i thought it was to be removed. But you should actually keep it on!
every thing of this keyboard makes me happy
Nice FishNuggetsYum
Man I've got to get myself the GMK67, what a keeb! Great video and I'm still team tactile...for the meantime.
I actually recommend it as the no.1 winner for budget boards you should buy to introduce you to the hobby!

Yep! I’ve got a couple of GMK67 builds where I build from start to finish! My latest video is also related to modding the kit!
The keyboard had a plastic adhesive film on the front of the pcb so I need to remove it?
You don’t need to remove it. I would actually recommend keeping it on!
@@sc.studio Why did you remove it then? :D
What kind of tape are you using is it just masking tape or painters?
Just regular masking tape!
Was the plat polycarbonate it did not look polycarbonate to me

Were you supposed to take off the plastic wrap on the PCB? Cuz I left mines in there
I didn't know it at the time but it's all preference. I've kept it on for my latest GMK67 build!
@sc.studio Oh I see - this is my 2nd build so I was confused why it was there, not sure if it was from the factory or was there for sound
@@cryokeebs yup it confused me too but as far as I know, it's ships on the newer GMK67s and basically just acts as a small bit of a sound dampener

how do you put back the stabilizer?
So i used the KTT kangs on my gmk67 build. They BARELY fit the plate and to get them in/out was a huge pain in the ass. Did you have this problem too?
I’ve put KTT kang whites in my GMK67s in the past without any issues!

I thought the plastic on the pcb is for the sound

Hello great video thank u !! i have a question what is that orange scotch that u use before lub ? thank u for ur time :)
It's called the tempest, or tape mod and it achieves a nice poppy sound!
pretty mutch my exact keyboard exept i have white keycaps and am getting new stabs bcouz my stock ones broke
Oh noo how did they break?
I have a question, have you lubed the switches by yourself or you used the pre-lubed ones?
I lubed these Kang Whites by hand!
thx for the answer! I ordered the pre lubed ones, but I'm gonna lube them one by one with the same lube. Thanks again and keep it going! 🥰@@sc.studio
The ribbon cable for Bluetooth is so hard to remove 😢
Yeah you gotta be super careful
what is the purpose of making the holes in the tape?
It’s not necessary but I just done it to help the switches but tbh it doesn’t really make a difference!
Are the switches factory lubed?
is it just me or does so many keyboard enthusiasts also cube? cuz that's a moyu box at the back there if im not mistaken :)
RS3M 😏
what keycaps used here?
They’re linked in the description!
So those stabs are stock?
I modded them in the video 😋
@@sc.studiocan u give advice about stabs ? Durock or everglide ? And which size goes to gmk67 ? Biggest thanks

What kind of tape do you guys use?
that deskmat actually looks so clean what is it
Do you guys recommend which lube kit?
You can’t go wrong with GPL205g0 for everything if you’ve never lubed a board before!
Is there one for a similar price on Amazon?
Unfortunately not but aliexpress shipping is not bad at all these days! This until only took about 2 weeks to arrive!!

Ive always found the holee mod to never hold long term 😭
What have you experienced?
Why are you make holes for the switch stems i see different People who do tape mod and nobody do this?

It's not necessary but I just do it to avoid bending any pins. It's overkill basically 😊
Will the battery have problems when doing the tape mod?
I can only speak from experience and I’ve never had any problems!
