I feel like a lot of what happened from Peru onward was the story basically turning into a generic Macguffin hunt. It's not necessarily a bad trope, the Indiana Jones Trilogy is a good example of it working extremely well. But when done poorly, Macguffin hunts will ignore character-based storytelling to push the plot forward (looking at you, Rise of Skywalker). Here it fell into the same kind of trap that most of the Bayformers films did. After the first act, it felt like the Transwarp Key was the only thing that mattered. Also, the reason I didn't like Wheeljack is that I believe he should have had something recognizably "Wheeljack." It's not a bad design necessarily, it just doesn't embody any aspects of the character we're familiar with. It wouldn't be so controversial if he was a brand new original character isolated from any expectations that come with adaptating pre-existing characters. Wheeljack doesn't have to be 100% G1 accurate, I just think that it's better to cherry pick the most memorable aspects, and get creative with the rest. Like how TF Prime adapted Starscream. He doesn't even have his G1 color scheme, yet every aspect of his design embodies Starscream's treacherous, cowardly, and ambitious, cunning personality so perfectly well. One glance, and you can immediately say, "this is Starscream!" One glance at RotB Wheeljack... and there's nothing to identify him as Wheeljack. That's why I think he should be a brand new original character. It felt like those times when Hasbro just slapped a familiar name on a random Cybertronian in order to keep the license of that name for the future. The actors' comments sound like either there's more things missing, they've been told to lie, they have mass amnesia of the actual movie??????? Or they did or discussed things that unfortunately didn't come into the actual movie
They should have really made a movie focusing on the Maximals and the Predacons, no Autobots, no unicron, just another small, focused story, like Bumblebee.
I'm not one to prop up the original animated movie above the live-action ones, but it really is bizarre how much better an execution of the same concept Galvatron is than Scourge. Like, giving the minion his own agency and personal goals seems like such an obvious direction, it's baffling that the movie didn't (though I'm pretty sure I read once that that Scourge hating Unicron and wanting to use the key against him was ANOTHER early concept that ultimately didn't make the final product. I guess they were afraid of giving him something to do). But instead, Scourge is part of an annoying modern trend. These kinds of antagonists are like if Goldfinger just gave the titular villain his one appearance at the spa in the beginning, and throughout the rest of the movie Odd Job is just the main villain. No added characterization, he's just all we get, and when Bond kills him in the end he just says "Goldfinger is still out there, but I'll get him one day." It's so unsatisfying, who would want to watch that? And no one does, movies that do this keep tanking and no getting their desired trilogy, but producers keep pushing them anyway because Hollywood has the collective IQ of a single chinchilla.
Considering the art direction of "Transformers One", I don't see a "Transformers Cinematic Universe coming to form...and we're already 3 movies in ("Transformers One" included). They're more individualized movies than even the Bayverse. Edit: Screw this. The real problem is the marketing. The art direction is only problematic if handled unwell. Happy to say, the movie allotted proper seriousness and unseriousness. It's not a Pixar-esque movie, it's a weird more childlike version of Transformers Prime.
Honestly, in my opinion, the sequels to bumblebee should have been focused movies on like one to three autobots or decepticons and just build from there. Make an event movie eventually. Just slowly introduce these characters so we actually care.
On your note, I think an interesting Beast Wars movie would be having the Maximals and Predacons wind up having to deal with human colonialism, and their approaches to the issue is what divides them.
I find it weird that when Airazor breaks up the Autobot/Maximal standoff, Rhinox didn't say anything, yet Cheetor apologized to Mirage. Like, Rhinox had NOTHING to say in that moment at all after yeeting Pablo not 5 seconds before? Even if his personality is different, he couldn't think of a single word to say? He didn't have anything to contribute when they talked about the Key, the other Maximals on Airazor's team who presumably died due to who knows what? So his only speaking credit got boiled down to maybe him saying "We'll clear the way?" And... why didn't Airazor want to get her wing looked at? If it was so obvious that the human girl saw it, why didn't Primal, or literally anyone else? It's amazing how much of this movie would be fixed if characters talked more... but looking at all the deleted scenes that made this movie better... it would've just ended up on the chopping block.
How is it that Peter Dinklage's best voice acting roles are a fat depressed eagle and a pirate monkey in a Ice Age film but his worst is a foe that faces Optimise Prime???
20:44 “con-kwees-tador” 20:53 “ga-roat” I’m Filipino but I’m still surprised that even Spanish words don’t escape the American English pronunciations 😭
the whole talk about beast wars and its writing is exactly why "shockwave controls the maximals and they arent actually characters" is like the worst part of idw. you aren't respecting the material by having the characters be there, you're just playing with toys because optimus primal was mandated to show up somewhere
Don't forget there were 3 more Autobots from the last movie (or 4 because I think we're supposed to believe Stratosphere used an escape pod, too). There should be a total of 9 Autobots. Where were they when they were needed the most? And I agree that the BB movie being left for any story routes however they want. Anyone can just soft reboot it and create the right "beginning" movie than this. "We've been guilty of that." You JUST did that! With ROTB! There are too many (CGI) characters for the audience to meet for the first time (let alone, the Autobots)!
I got so excited for this movie when I learned they were going to Peru as I am half-peruvian and I adore my culture. The rest of the movie was bleh to me but seeing those little snippets of my culture made me happy, especially since I’ve loved Transformers ever since I was little. Good thing they didn’t show cuy…
1:13:33 I had the weirdest experience watching this scene because I was totally expecting some sort of "chest getting crushed" sound that its blatant absence took me out of the scene. It reminded me of that bizarre sound moment in AOE when Optimus slaps Grimlock when they're in the canyon and the slap sounds so muffled for no reason! This same scene in the trailer (while Prime screaming was put later during the ship magnet scene and the final cut of the canyon scene has the "giving you freedom" line) has the slapping sound mixed totally fine! Why do sound mixing/editing mistakes this apparent slip through the cracks like this?? 😂😂
This film felt like two different movies forced together into a mixed up enjoyable mess. It would've been better if the maximal got their own spinoff movie after a sequel to Bumblebee.
A lot of Unicron's go for the devilish style voice what I guess makes sense Unicron is practically the devil but it is actually less scary then the commanding voice he had in G1.
The problem with this movie you summed up in one line "when people stop being racist" . Now the stupid shit that pissed me off because I was alive in the 90's the main human male in the movie was ex Army this being set in 94 he was probably a Gulf War vet at the time he could have made his brother a dependent and his medical bills would have been covered and he wouldn't have gotten out if he was as awesome as they say he was the Army would have done anything to keep him. You have to remember there were some military scandals at the time and they were trying to change their image. The main human female oh my God that was an insult to anyone with two brain cells. Colleges get funding from all kinds of people and if you had someone like her in your school they would have had her front and center that professor would have made so much more money standing behind her not in front of her. But people think racist run this country up to this very day. I'm not going to say there wasn't assholes back then, because there were but I will say it was a hell of a lot better in many ways over today. The people who made this movie don't know about Transformers history or people and it shows. I'll probably get hate for saying what I'm saying but all I can say is bring it I'm not scared I've been hated my whole life
if by "bigger things" I hope it means Wheeljack *isnt* Wheeljack. He doesn't sound or look like how he did in bumblebee and frankly I hope he's a Decepticon spy similar to what they did in transformers prime where the real Wheeljack is imprisoned.
If we get another sequel set in this continuity I just want Megatron to be introduced and absolutely *destroy* the autobots throughout the first half of the movie
I am always left with a big question mark over my head as to how someone would Cut Important moments that would clarify Plot issues in the story or act, Like it was almost finished. I guess it's just easier or quicker to cut a large part of the movie then little snit bits interspersed throughout the film....
I'm not trying to sound like a GeeWunner here about why this Wheeljack doesn't look like the Wheeljack from Bumblebee 2018. I just don't get why they didn't explain why they look so different if they're supposed to be the same Wheeljack apparently. They could've easily put in a joke about how many Transformers characters have the same name but don't look similar. Like there's the Ironhide from the original cartoon and the one from Energon for example.
You keep talking about Wheeljack while Pablo is on screen why is that ? 😮 (Yes, He is Wheeljack but I keep telling myself his name is Pablo just so I can sleep better at night.)
Missed opportunity to not have Cheetor and Mirage team up and have general banter. my only gripe with Sourge is that fact he was aligned with Unicron. I was expecting Cyclonus and Galvatron to make a brief save for Scourge. (also answering the question where was Megatron) also could have included the Beastwars Megatron as an extra villian. Primal should have been the one to fight Scourge. I agree about Wheeljack and Arcee. Wish they had more of a pressence onscreen. also wish Wheeljack had a design closer to his mainline toy. (keeping the front of VW bus on his chest. The iconic part of the vehichal, with a classic G1 style wheeljack helmet.) despite is flaws. Its honestly in my top 3 out of the live action TF films.
In my position of making a Transformers movie. I'd start with low stakes. Aka a Wreckers Movie. Showing off each of their amazing talent and how much they bounce off each other. But in the end, it would be a movie about how them being the suicide team was always going to have something happen. Like death and the eventual turning point in the Great War. Called "This War isn't going to be short" Ahem. I'd like to speak about two subjects. 1 The reason why Unicron is always hinted at. And two how Scourge should have been done in this movie. 1.Unicron is always hinted at because he's a planet. When I wrote my Transformers fanfic series which there was 6. The first one ended on a good note while hinting that Shockwave is going to appear in the next. Then my 2nd ends on a good note while setting up Unicron if not saying it is him. Then for the 3rd book. He finally appears at the end. Giving Megatron a new body and vowing to destroy his brother. Then the 4th comes and he communicates to Galvatron 2 or 3 times in the book? Galvatron is still the main threat. But Unicron is controlling him as a Pawn. Then the 5th book comes and Unicron is becoming quite impatient because it just seems like galvatron is taking his time. Then Galvatron finally succeeds at the beginning of the 6th and finally Unicron becomes the main threat. 2.What I did with galvatron and what could have been done better. He accepts Unicron's deal. But overtime he becomes impatient like Unicron who mind you mentally abuses him which leads to Galvatron throwing almost a temper Tantrum after every call. Tries to send his rage somewhere. Doesn't that sound good?
if i was given the privilege to make a transformers product the crazy stuff i would ask for would be to make it a tv series or a 3 movie deal. a full story with time to breath, and not having to rely on and hope another writer or director will carry a vision. director and writer changes almost always leads to an inconsistent final product like the latest sw trilogy or the last 2 transformers films.
Mirage was almost the main character but his lack of merch expecially in the uk is crazy. Even yolopark seemed to do every transformer optimus , primal , bumblebee obvs an some.of the maximals an even scourge but no mirage an ive never seen a studio series mirage though I imagine they've done one
"I don´t want to take away the enjoyment you had for the Maximals in this movie" Fear not, my man, for I had NONE. I only had contempt. And, want to know a secret? My first Transformers toy was Waspinator. The 90s original. I despise this movie so freaking hard. Objectively, I know it´s beyond any of the Bay films. A 5/10. Subjectively, it´s a step back from all the things I saw Bumblebee doing RIGHT.
I said this on the original upload, so I'll say it again here, why are the Maximals even in Peru? From my understanding, the idea behind Beast Wars was "what would the Transformers use as disguises if they were in an area or on a planet that had no vehicles or electronics?" The next best thing would be the local wildlife. *LOCAL* wildlife. The Maximals' disguises are based on animals from the African continent, gorillas, cheetahs, rhinos, etc. But in this movie they use those disguises in Peru, an area those animals are not native to. I don't know if the writers knew this, but RHINOS aren't exactly easy to come by in PERU! They still stick out like a sore thumb! How did they get as far as filming the Peru scenes without realizing the Maximals, as they are, hiding in Peru make NO SENSE? This could've been fixed by either by setting the movie in Africa, where the Maximals' disguises would be more believable, or by giving us NEW Maximals based on Peruvian wildlife. The latter would've been an interesting concept id they were dead set on using Peru as a location, though I guess they could use Optimus Primal if they _really_ needed a recognizable Maximal. This shouldn't bother me as much as it does, but to me it shows how little thought went into the production of this movie beyond "Bumblebee sequel with the Maximals", even where the characters are set within the story.
Have people just forgotten about Wheeljack's god awful design in the Bay-verse movies? I would take the one in ROTB over that walking jump scare any day Also, how in the hell did Liza Koshy come up with a better backstory/character for Arcee than any of the writers?
Heres actually a cool way to tie in bayverse and knight verse. Have it be the maximals are from the bayverse timeline and due to their arrival in time travel whatever adventures it changed everything even on cybertron. Have it be the unicron they are fighting never became earth and was just sent in a worm hole.
I don't like Mirage. I think he's mechanically inconsistent. I don't like that he can randomly turn into 4 different things without explanation. I don't like that he can just not die by collapsing into a suit of power armor. If I didn't know anything about the writing team I'd say Mirage was the writer's favorite character because they gave him so much special treatment. >Why does every Transformers movie look like Tomb Raider One of my biggest problems with ROTB, and I'm writing this as I'm watching it so if you bring it up later, whoops, is that its plot is way too similar to ROTF. Find treasure in pyramid country that unlocks a pillar related to an ancient Cybertronian evil. And a fan favorite character dies in the second act. It feels like I've seen this all before.
Can I just say I don't really like Mirage in this movie. His sense of humor gives me some bad Skids and Mudflap vibes, except people give Mirage a pass because A) unlike the twins, he's not a walking talking racial stereotype, and B) he's more attractive.
all good men but how can you like this wheeljack's design? lol it's no different from the dotm one. both are humanoid messes who have nothing to do with their original counterparts idk it just looks like shit to me
I don’t think rotb had any memorable human characters in my opinion. I didn’t even remember the exposition girls name until this video. On the other hand, I enjoyed almost every human character in the 07 film. They all were unique from one another and added a little bit more to the film as a whole. I especially liked how the film focused on three distinct protagonist like characters. There was sgt. Lennox on the military point of view. Then there was the analyst lady with Glenn. Then there was Sam and Mikaela, and their friends and family. This essentially gave us three defined perspectives on the Transformers arrival to earth. Then by the end of the film they all come together and work towards stopping the Deceptions. Even the side characters were memorable like Bobby Bolivia or agent Simmons. Heck even Sam’s parents (in the first film) were enjoyable to watch because many people can relate to having parents like that. My parents are practically identical which I found to be really funny. The last thing that bothered me about the humans in rotb was that off the bat it tried making me feel sorry for them. For Noah it tried to make me sympathize with him because his family is struggling, his brother has some illness and he can’t seem to get his life on track. With the exposition girl she has everyone looking down on her and taking credit from her. I felt this to be a cheap attempt to make us care for them when in reality I thought it was cliche and filler. The thing I liked about Sam was that he was just an average kid going to high school and wanting to get good grades so he could get a car to impress his crush. Sure he was the weird kid no one really talked to and there was a bully picking on him but besides that his life was overall pretty good. Nothing too over exaggerated about how his life is rough and miserable and then the transformers came and changed it forever sort of thing. Overall I liked the human characters in the 07 film more. I’m most definitely going to get hate for this because people seem to bend over backwards to defend rotb but atleast keep it civil instead of just calling me an idiot. That’s not an argument it’s just pointless name calling.
@@bakl3467 TF fans bash on ROTB just for the sake of bashing on ROTB because that’s what everyone is doing, and I’m not going to hear out garbage takes like “the Bayverse had better human protagonists” when I couldn’t stand most of them.
I will say I kinda liked the humans, but still that’s kinda a bad thing when the autobots are garbage and the “terrorcons” are soooooooo booooorrrriiing just give me megatron(EDIT G1 not trex maybe both wouldn’t be chill)
I like your review but your "story writing 101" critique is a little frustrating. I think it too restrictive. So what if we saw Frodo with a crack pipe collection? It doesn't always have to serve a purpose for the story. It can just be a slice of the character's life. Sometimes random stuff just happens.
@AxeManOfSuburbia I feel like when these little slice of life moments happen and they don't serve the story, they should offer either an insight into a character where we can say "okay I see why we were told this", or worldbuild. Frodo having a crack pipe collection would tell us he's got a real fuckin problem and he probably needs to see somebody!

More like a Transformer Anthology series
Honestly, in my opinion, the sequels to bumblebee should have been focused movies on like one to three autobots or decepticons and just build from there. Make an event movie eventually. Just slowly introduce these characters so we actually care.
On your note, I think an interesting Beast Wars movie would be having the Maximals and Predacons wind up having to deal with human colonialism, and their approaches to the issue is what divides them.
1:02:14 still gets me every time💀💀
I find it weird that when Airazor breaks up the Autobot/Maximal standoff, Rhinox didn't say anything, yet Cheetor apologized to Mirage. So his only speaking credit got boiled down to maybe him saying "We'll clear the way?"
And... why didn't Airazor want to get her wing looked at? If it was so obvious that the human girl saw it, why didn't Primal, or literally anyone else? It's amazing how much of this movie would be fixed if characters talked more... but looking at all the deleted scenes that made this movie better... it would've just ended up on the chopping block.
Just casually dissing RoTF like that bro, you're in my bad books, sleep with one eye open from now on Lil bro
Hope they focus more on Transformers not crossover GI Joes because not enough important autoboots and deceptions introduces in sequels
It's crazy to me that all the deleted scenes improve the movie
How is it that Peter Dinklage's best voice acting roles are a fat depressed eagle and a pirate monkey in a Ice Age film but his worst is a foe that faces Optimise Prime???
20:44 “con-kwees-tador”
20:53 “ga-roat”
I’m Filipino but I’m still surprised that even Spanish words don’t escape the American English pronunciations 😭
Peter dinkelige can't VA to save his life. He was the original voice of Ghost from destiny, and he sounded identical to scurge in rize of the beasts!
the whole talk about beast wars and its writing is exactly why "shockwave controls the maximals and they arent actually characters" is like the worst part of idw. you aren't respecting the material by having the characters be there, you're just playing with toys because optimus primal was mandated to show up somewhere
44:30 At last, we finally meet... the Ally Scrotum.
1:17:07 cheetor never makes that face, those were actual cheetahs
Starting the morning with Transformers ☕
Watching this and the part 1 video while eating dinner is my fave experience
"power of a prime" is badass ong
(Yes, He is Wheeljack but I keep telling myself his name is Pablo just so I can sleep better at night.)
I wish the Scourge theory was right
Missed opportunity to not have Cheetor and Mirage team up and have general banter.
my only gripe with Sourge is that fact he was aligned with Unicron.
The iconic part of the vehichal, with a classic G1 style wheeljack helmet.)
despite is flaws. Its honestly in my top 3 out of the live action TF films.
44:45 im dying bro☠️
Transformers revenge of the fallen is a MASTERPIECE
Lol
Enemy scronum
I think Jeffery Dean Morgan would be a great scourge
Part 2: Autobottle Tendency
I didnt even know the first video was part 1 but no complaints here
So what were the bags of cat fur for anyway?
These three videos are longer then the actual movie 😭
More cohesive too. lmao
Called "This War isn't going to be short"
Ahem.
For some reason, this movie just felt different
1:15:28 black arachnia is not exactly lame but I really don't want to defend the idea of turning a elita-1 into her👍
5:02 This is for me to go back to and laugh
if i was given the privilege to make a transformers product the crazy stuff i would ask for would be to make it a tv series or a 3 movie deal. a full story with time to breath, and not having to rely on and hope another writer or director will carry a vision. director and writer changes almost always leads to an inconsistent final product like the latest sw trilogy or the last 2 transformers films.
Mirage was almost the main character but his lack of merch expecially in the uk is crazy. Even yolopark seemed to do every transformer optimus , primal , bumblebee obvs an some.of the maximals an even scourge but no mirage an ive never seen a studio series mirage though I imagine they've done one
"I don´t want to take away the enjoyment you had for the Maximals in this movie"
Fear not, my man, for I had NONE.
This shouldn't bother me as much as it does, but to me it shows how little thought went into the production of this movie beyond "Bumblebee sequel with the Maximals", even where the characters are set within the story.
peak video thank you!!
loved the first part too
Have people just forgotten about Wheeljack's god awful design in the Bay-verse movies? I would take the one in ROTB over that walking jump scare any day
Also, how in the hell did Liza Koshy come up with a better backstory/character for Arcee than any of the writers?
What character?
Arcee didn’t do anything, she didn’t even need to be there. She was a non character.
Ahh a BRAND NEW paperplane video I can't to watc- Hey wait a minute-
blame paramount and youtube copyright system
The Does Not Matter bit took me out when I first watched this
Payday soundtrack 😎
Not only was it bad pacing. Musi. Feeling anti climatic in scenes where it didnt fit it. The CGI was terrible
honestly if I somehow got to make a TF movie I'd mainly want to have Hotrod fighting MegaEmpress
Dude, they went to machu picchu!? I never noticed. They shot it so bably😂 lol
I'd buy the hell out of the "WE'LL CLEAR THE WAY" T-shirt.
but then I'm, like, a titanic asshole, so I guess that's the demographic.
Dude didn't want a sequel but everyone else did
This was soooo gooood! ❤
7:06 Arrival
Heres actually a cool way to tie in bayverse and knight verse.
Have it be the maximals are from the bayverse timeline and due to their arrival in time travel whatever adventures it changed everything even on cybertron. Have it be the unicron they are fighting never became earth and was just sent in a worm hole.
That would be stupid. The series shouldn’t be united.
rotb imo, is not canon. IMO. can't wait for Bumblebee 2. 😂😭
Dude! absolutely loving this series. B, b. b? b :) B? B B!!!
Transformers - LIES of The Beasts: FART 2 haha lol
why have i watched this before and youtube says i haven’t and it’s been out for 9 and 2 days. interesting.
Primal did show up in modern times in Robot Masters
Is it just me or I swear I watch this already😅😅😅
The og video got copyright striked so Paper plane is reuploading it in parts
I hope you make more edits like the one at 1:02:15.
>Why does every Transformers movie look like Tomb Raider
One of my biggest problems with ROTB, and I'm writing this as I'm watching it so if you bring it up later, whoops, is that its plot is way too similar to ROTF. Find treasure in pyramid country that unlocks a pillar related to an ancient Cybertronian evil. And a fan favorite character dies in the second act. It feels like I've seen this all before.
Is it bad that I find your story with fortress maximus and future you way more interesting than this movie?
Thank god im not the only one who sees how poor the editing of the hillside road is
Can I just say I don't really like Mirage in this movie. His sense of humor gives me some bad Skids and Mudflap vibes, except people give Mirage a pass because A) unlike the twins, he's not a walking talking racial stereotype, and B) he's more attractive.
pablo desing is that bad guy
Rhinox should’ve spoke
all good men but how can you like this wheeljack's design? lol
it's no different from the dotm one. both are humanoid messes who have nothing to do with their original counterparts idk it just looks like shit to me
57:39Rude!
19:35Yes!
I disagree
Uh oh!
Bayverse baby alert!
Bayverse baby alert, class!
@@dkkanofkash8798
@@bakl3467 TF fans bash on ROTB just for the sake of bashing on ROTB because that’s what everyone is doing, and I’m not going to hear out garbage takes like “the Bayverse had better human protagonists” when I couldn’t stand most of them.
@@dkkanofkash8798 that’s your opinion but your opinion isn’t law among everyone else. Try to be less narcissistic pal
I swear to god I think you used to make unhinged Tik-tok videos

what
1:04:42 does anyone have a link to this add?
VERY NICEE
1:01:07 we will clear da wae
I feel indifferent to this video because uhhhhhhh ummmmmm errrrr I like transformers 👍
1.:02:00 , hilarious 😂
I can't help but think about half this video you just repeated almost word for word what you said in the last like what you said about Peru
