Thank you for making this video. It has always bothered me how misunderstood and villainized Marie Antoinette is. The way they sought to humiliate her at the end was so cruel and inhumane. As usual the quality of filming and research are brilliant and your voice and narration gave me chills💚💚💚
Sad though this is there was so much more to the execution of Louis Seize and Marie Antoinette If you don't like readied dull and heavy history books try Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities, or more recently Hillary Mantel's A Place of Greater Safety The plight of Tsar Nicholas II and his wife Alexandra was almost a carbon copy of Louis and Marie, they too being deposed and arrested in 1917 Russia. The only difference was that when it came to their execution, they were both shot together with all their children and a few close aides Thereby assuring that there were no descendents left alive who could come back years later down the line to reclaim the throne.
The fate of poor Louis Charles was a nightmare. Years in barbaric prison all alone, subject to inhumane tortuous conditions unrtil his death at about age 10 or so. Horrific.
@@EvelynEdwardsWhat actually did happen to the boy? I read that he was forced to testify against his mother on false charges of incest and that he was psychologically abused by his jailer.
Great video, it appears that she really was a misunderstood person. Thank you for all the work you put into each of your videos, they show how much you respect the past.
There are a lot of aspects of Marie that are very misunderstood. History has made her responsible for things that she really didn’t have any power over.
My heart broke many times watching your production; Your photography was speculator ~ Madame Tussaud was fearless and I am so happy to see this very detailed reference in your show notes above. Veuillez recevoir Madame, mes salutations distinguées ~M
I Loved this video. Very sad story but as always you tell history in such a beautiful way. Thank you for all the hard work you do to tell us about history.
How very interesting! Thank you for the share! How did they know that it was her body they had interred 22 years later if her original grave was a mass? So curious.
@EvelynEdwards 😧 Amazing. That would not be an egg hunt anyone would want to go on though! Thank you so much for the reply - new to your channel and you do just lovely work! So talented! Prayers for your every success, Evelyn!
The detail and quality of your research & videos is incredible! What a delight every time! You really make it come alive! Anyone using these to educate kids is brilliant!
They thought it was justified at the time. They also thought it was justified to do absolutely horrific things to her son. Their anger made them forget.
Bless these women that want through deaths like these. I'm sure women didn't covet being a queen back then, no matter what country they were in as it seems women weren't safe anywhere. Especially if they were royal
Thank you for your very riveting & poignant narration, gave me chills. Noticeably the impact on your narration. It is a travesty how savage mankind, in any decade , can be. To just throw away life, little innocent children… 💔💔 She was a child herself when she came into this life.. Always excited when I see notification of a new video. You give a voice to many who had theirs snuffed out.. Great job Ohio 🇺🇸
Love watching your content! You put so much research, time, effort into all of your videos. It's so important to learn about history so we don't make the same mistakes as we create history!! 💚
This is the first time I have ever heard something positive about Marie Antoinette. I have always heard the "let them eat cake" quote. It reminded me of this: "Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy."
Did you know she never said “let them eat cake”? As in never. Didn’t happen. That story began circulating 100 years before Marie Antoinette was ever born. More incorrect things are said about her than almost any female in history.
Did the French revolutionaries live happily ever after. After executing Queen Marie Antoinette. Misries of this mortal world never end. Never be cruel even to your worst enemy. Your actions come back to haunt you sooner or later
Hi Marilyn! I don’t have a podcast. Not really what makes me happy. I love being able to do this. But there are lots of longer episodes on my feed as well. 💚💚
Maybe a tragic end to life. But it had been coming to the royal family after decades of much worse cruelty to the people of their country while they sat in their palaces.
Let’s break this comment down- when you say the royal family do you mean the French royal family? She was not part of that dynasty of spending. She was a teenager who barely spoke the language that was brought to France to marry another teenager that was socially awkward and woefully inadequate to rule. The Bourbons had been overspending for generations. That’s not Marie Antoinette’s fault. And if you think she had absolutely any say in anything to do with any policy I’d highly recommend reading her biography by Antonia Fraser.

She was..but read about her son Louis…dying in prison, sh**t, rats, stinky prison . He was 10 when he died. He was the King of France
As a mom, hearing that her son screamed like that while being taken away was so painful. 😢
What they did to her son was horrific. I can’t even put it in a video.
Sad though this is there was so much more to the execution of Louis Seize and Marie Antoinette

This one ALWAYS makes me cry. Those poor, darling children at least knew their mother's love for them as she went to her end 🖤

Marie Antoinette's final days were so tragic! Thank you for this detailed account and video, which shows her final resting place. 💚
My honor and pleasure Martha. Thank you for watching!
Such a sad story. Beautiful carvings. Heartless execution. So glad they got the wax rendering of her head as morbid as this sounds.
There was lots of discussion on to whether it was necessary to even execute her. It was a statement they decided they wanted to make. 💚
Another beautiful video! Her story is so terribly tragic. Neither her nor Louis “conspired” against France, it was all such rubbish 😑
The Bourbon dynasty had been spending insane amounts of money since Louis XIV. Louis XVI was so incredibly ill equipped to reign it isn’t even funny.
This is just amazing how you bring these stories to life thank you so much for taking us to this amazing place

Very lovely, and moving tribute to MA that you don't often hear. You video and kind words, IMO gives back to her, the dignity that was taken.

How cruel are we as the most evolved species? Even the most dangerous animals that walked this planet, did not behave like us humans. Shame

Thank you. I love learning about history by visiting the buildings that it happened in. Stunning video/
That always brings the history to life for me….being able to see where it actually happened! 💚
I think she was misunderstood she's an innocent woman😢
Very very misunderstood. And to this day so many factually incorrect things are said about her.
How did they know which body belonged to Marie? It was before DNA testing and if she was in a mass grave how do they know they have the correct body?
There were several things still on her body that identified her - a stocking, two elastic garters and some hair.
They were treated horrifically. Mob rule. God have mercy.
If she was buried in a mass grave, how did the people who re-interred her know it was her?

The clothes on the memorial sculptures really wind me up because they're not period specific to the 18C.
