Video moving too fast? I need to work on that. In the mean time, use the slowdown feature that TH-cam offers. Click the gear on the lower right of the video, but not before hitting that thumbs up and subscribe. Hit that bell too so you don't miss another video.
I did that. It isn't slowed nearly enough. Stopping and starting is no help. It usually goes too fast to stop at the right place and almost impossible to get back to where you need to be for the next bit of info. Too much time wasted that should be spent on learning and practice. Your speed is probably perfect for someone that already knows what you are trying to teach.
Love your teaching style. It’s not too fast pace is perfect. I love how you eliminate all the beginning talk and go right into the lesson. Keep up the pace
I subscribed to your channel over 5 years ago after watching my first video on Alpha and Omega. You are a blessing in my life and I thank God everyday for your life and gift. You've always inspired me push and practice harder even when I felt like giving up. GOD BLESS YOU MAN 🙂
@@fakepastorbaconchickeneati8965 I really just kept learning. I already knew the number system he's talking about but I then went and learned what drop-two chords are and how they're used. After that, I just took the video one step at a time. he shows multiple chords available to be played for the same number (ie the 1 chord is played with the Bb sus 2 chord on top). I just learned one version that he showed of each number that I didn't already know that also sounded good when I put them all together and threw it into my music. I play for my church so I get a lot of play time. I used the alternate chords I got from this video so often that I could effortlessly throw them into new songs I heard and it makes my background talk music heavenly. Also, I always throw piano vids I don't fully understand into a playlist and months later, I re-watch them to see if anything has changed for me. I did that with this one. After coming back the third... or fourth time, I was able to easily keep up since I understood some of the chords he was playing now that I play them all the time and know how they can be used in conjunction with other chords. On top of that, I treated the sus 2 chords and the drop 2 chords the same way in terms of using them in new songs and talk music. Since those two were not that difficult they were really easy to pick up after a couple youtube videos and some sunday mornings experimenting with the music while people talked over the mic... Also, my favorite key to play is Db
In the middle of the night, i can't play to reproduce that, but you gave me great input right now! Thank you very very much and keep it up.I will watch more of that!! Greetings from Germany
BRO!!!!!!! I'm a bits and pieces piano player, meaning I've been learning bits and pieces here and there from people in person, theory books, videos, and just trial and error. This has just taken all that piecemeal stuff I've come across, but not necessarily understood - and made sense of it. THANK YOU!!!!!! New Subscriber
Niklas Malmqvist This is a basic approach to sounding advanced. The prerequisite is knowing basic theory and being comfortable playing at a basic level. I’d practice major, minor, sus2/sus4, and practice them in all 12 keys. This stuff is not hard but it would be kinda heavy for an absolute beginner. Play on my bro!
Amazing leeson. Jake, cane you give us another way playing the 3th chord, FC#Eb - AbC#EbAb somehow i can't understand the sounding of this one. There is too much tension in FC#Eb, but the second cord is amazing, I am playing it all this week, it is so deep and loving, EbC#Eb - FF#C#
A lot of useful stuff Jake - tagging and coming back! Maybe too fast for a beginner player. I think the way to use this is to watch a few minutes and then go and shed it. WHAT IS THE APP YOU ARE USING FOR THE OVERLAY?
hello ! i learned theory of chord construction in all types of scales (major minor dimininshed blues minor type scales and whole tone with pentatonic) i would like to request a tutorial on ear training finding key of a song quickly and able to recognise movement when a singer sing a perfect 4ths or a major sixth
Good video but can you just simply create a video of what’s in your left hand what particular Sus chord is in your right create a formula? U did good for the major chord but u jumped around so much for the minor chord abt how it could be this could be that so much to where it was hard to follow... Also can u not use words like could be this or that but could u always call out the chord names in individual hands thx Great Lesson!
The 5th of your left hand is clashing with your right hand on the Sus4 chords. Try to match everything on both hands. You do this alot in all your videos. Hahaha but I like your stuff, ever since the HNS Music days
@@jakejacobs126 when I set it to the lowest speed too I actually get what I want unlike the Db it was so cool Please do something about it so that I can also benefit from it on all the keys, you are awesome 🤯

Does ur patreon page explain this in depth?

Appreciate your kind words. I am working on providing more beginner content. The slowdown feature TH-cam has though useful isn’t for everyone.

What did you do to understand what he is doing

Just seeing how much fun you're having playing all these chords makes me smile! Thank you!
I always tell newer players about these subs to help them sound better. I’m glad there’s a video that explains it similarly to how I do. Great video!
This is what i call a master class, just amazing

What vst are you using? I love the fact that it only picks one note from the chords for the violin
your playing is nice you should release a course on this, because even on the slowest playback speed you play too fast lol
Download the video and play with QuickTime so you can use frame by frame playback.
