Bruh I thought I was killing the organ until I started studying your tutorial I realized my chords didn’t sound like yours and I wondered what I was missing but thanks to your videos you’ve opened me up to different voicing techniques and it’s has totally changed my entire sound. God bless you Van man you’ve got the biggest heart. Thank you so much!
I have watched tons and tons of videos on TH-cam and I just keep wondering how people can play with good and best techniques, but after watching this cool video i realised that this guy is a good person for having taught a best lesson like this and that also for free. Hardly seen a good person like you these days. May God be with you always and bless you abundantly. Thank alots 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Thanks V Keys, Excellent Illustration of how to improve one voicings without clashing with the Bass player and lead soloists etc. A keys player can hold the middle ground providing great orchestration. Thanks again.
This is good stuff right here. Rootless voicings are rarely taught or talked about in depth. Takes practice, but it sounds much better in a full band setting with a bass player. Drop 2 voicings are also great to use as well.
Merci pur cet apprentissage que je trouve très pédagogique cela permet aux musiciens débutants de comprendre mieux certaines bases du jeu gospel et même aux musiciens avancés de se rappeler de certaine règles ...vraiment je félicite cette démarche 👍👍
Some great advice there. Glad you mentioned just getting rid of the extra fifth (and doubled root) later; it's so easy to swap it for a 7, 9 or 10 (or even nothing).
I've been looking for this kind of tutorial for like forever!! I've really enjoyed this lesson. I'm grateful that at least at the end of the video you broke down the left hand chords and how to apply them, which is one thing most piano tutors don't teach. God richly bless you🙏
5:11 to 5:40 is worth the price of admission - beautifully played! I'm assuming this is either a digital piano or a midi keyboard with a vst piano plugin sound? Who makes that sound? Wonderful!
Ohh man I’ve been in need of this joint !! Thank you Kc you the man bruh you’re always on time!!🙏🏾 vkeys did a great Job thanks bro for a wonderful lesson it’ll definitely help me I for one have been stuck in that shape been tryna break it & now you gave me the tools to and I’m very thankful for it God bless y’all
Very helpful I’m train to transposing finally breaking my fingers in and lately I’ve been expanding this is a ultimate gem. I would love to know how he know which three notes are universal so I can use the formula in different keys.
Great video these sort of voicings are also frequently used in classical musical during long arpeggio runs interesting that pianists from other genres utilise this too
See, call me weird but i don’t care to play songs I like playing sounds (vibes) so this was perfect for me. The further you get away from the theory boxes the more beautiful music sounds. music theory: learn it all [for the tools] and then forget it all. And just play the sounds that fit in the now.
This brotha looks like Dave Chappelle with dreadlocks lol. And "he plays so beautiful dont you agree". Float On my brotha, you're truly gifted. Great video lesson too btw.
Mate, I'm a white bloke from Australia. I'm really glad and happy that you've posted this video. African Americans have produced so many of the beautiful songs over the years. But sadly I just don't see this happening anymore. It saddens and angers me that people with your talent and skills get put on the backburner because someone else has created a tune on a computer. Please, please, please tell all the other African American musicians that you know to help bring back the music that the world loves to hear. The real music, made by real musicians with real music skills. And not this no talent rubbish music. And thanks again for posting this video. Cheers mate..
John, I don’t think our African American brothers are put on the back burner. The strength and depth of amazingly talented players is beyond comparison. We musicians know where it’s at. Everything is okay 👌
This is so in awesome. Thank for the giving me the insight. I have been playing the 1 5 1 for the longest time ever. the weakest hand in playing is the left hand. Do you have any exercise for stronger and faster-left hand
Thanks for this! I've been playing 1-5-1 in the bass forever... I needed to hear this
There are some good secrets in this one!!! People aren't really teaching this.
Exactly....
TH-cam is messed up
@@vick3554 TH-cam is not messed up

Man those MIDI keys look amazing :)
If you just learning.....this is Gold! Your music theory on a silver platter.
This is awesome. Less is more.. knowing what NOT to play can add so much. So grateful for these videos
Thanks V Keys,

Vaughn you’re a down south legend bro great tutorial man.
One of the best tutorial from this channel 🌈
Nice. Removing the additional bass notes creates some more ambiguity which can sound enticing and mysterious when used on multiple chord changes.
I love it from kenya Africa.. helped so much .. appreciate continue teaching the immaturity that we do as musicians...
This channel motivates me to touch them keys man. I got time with this quarantine going on.

just discovered this channel and the whole set up of the keys and chords and sheet music in the back is amazing ! keep it up
Chris Ospina hey there and welcome!!! Glad you stopped by and I hope to see you again soon! 🙏🙏🙏
You, Sir, are a very fine teacher.

Just what I needed. This helped a lot thank you. Clarity.
Phenomenal teacher and lesson. Really enjoyed.
Great explanation!! We need more of Vaughn on here!
Love it. Oh and the analogies i feel it. Had to laugh with the “conflicts of interests” notes analogy
Very well laid out instruction. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! These simple changes make a big difference in the sound 🙏🏼
This is a great lesson on how less is more many times.
5:11 to 5:40 is worth the price of admission - beautifully played! I'm assuming this is either a digital piano or a midi keyboard with a vst piano plugin sound? Who makes that sound? Wonderful!

It helped somebody for sure. Me 🙌🏼.
God bless you Bro. Big Time!

Right on Vaughn! And hello KC.
Bless you guys! Thanks for the great lessons
NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY I NEVER LIKED THE SOUND OF IT BUT WHEN I MOVED IT UP IT FELT RIGHT
when you started playing 4:22 my emotion began to change, the chords are simple but interesting...
Great knowledge...i like that bit about diminished and churchy....i learnt something biiiiig!!!
Great video these sort of voicings are also frequently used in classical musical during long arpeggio runs interesting that pianists from other genres utilise this too
Best explanation ever!!!

Thank you for this. Big Help!
very enlightening, greatly appreciated. Vee Keys!!!!!
Brilliant musician. Thanks
Thank you, I needed this !!!
Very nice!
Definely true when playing with others. Can be playing beautiful chords but not blending due to the low frequencies of the left hand.
Bro thank you, helps me a lot!! Be bless
Was it helpful?? So sooooo helpful. You addressed a couple recent struggles of mine without knowing it.
exposure causes expansion! thanks for your lesson
This was really helpful at least to me.
This brotha looks like Dave Chappelle with dreadlocks lol. And "he plays so beautiful dont you agree". Float On my brotha, you're truly gifted. Great video lesson too btw.
Amazing stuff, I used to wonder why musicians play with open chords.
Thank you for this lesson

Sure helped me!!! Great one.. Thanks PSM
Amazing ! Thank you
Sweet!!!
Hey y'all, wondering why when B is played in the left hand, the 5th step is to G and not to Gb or F?
Thanks!!
Wow! this is nice
Amazing,thank you
Good stuff, thanks 👌
Glad you liked it!
Very good point not to always play 1-5-1 with the left hand. Left-hand-stretching is the key 😄
Amazing!
Good stuff KC
Yes to all of this!
Hey K.C. do you by chance have a "Absolute beginner" video ?
What's the 1st thing you'd teach ?
Thanks good information.
Rili loved dis sir..u awsome
fantastique introduction
it helped a lot, thanks and God bless
Well done.
Wonderful.
Sounds like Bruce Hornsby. I like it.
Very nice 👍🙏🏼
