When they referred to the two maids being like the daughters of the Downstairs Family, they meant Ruby and Daisy. Instead of Daisy, they showed another maid who was only there briefly. Poor editing.

I loved the series, but missed many important episodes, as I was still in school, and late night viewing was forbidden to us as kids, and DVR’s, DVD’s, & VCR’s hadn’t been invented yet. If they did re-air the series I’d be able to see it in its entirety, finally, in my mature years, which I would LOVE immensely!

@@psychosoma5049 Thankyou for that .It was David Kernan who sang,with just him and a pre recorded piano track playing off set .He makes a good job of it as well. He has made a CD of it with a full orchestral backing but it is not as intimate where you can appreciate the quality and nice timbre of his voice.

Kevin Alleyne they say no , I saw an interview of one of the Downton Abbey stars and when the interviewer said upstairs downstairs, only to differentiate the cast not referring to the 70’s series, he was told they are not suppose to use that term.

Downton Storylines are ripped off wholesale from Upstairs Downstairs though. They knew there was new generations who hadn’t seen it. Upstairs Downstairs is from an era of studio bound drama, it can feel like watching a theatre play. So they know most wouldn’t see it now. It leaves producers free to plunder old series like this. Modern tv is closer to movies with the increase in location filming for both interior and exterior scenes, it feels more dynamic and realistic
