Great vid, I think the strobe affect would be cool with underglow, making the LED diodes flash around

Thanks for posting this! I just ordered 4 sets just to have in my parts bin for future projects. I wonder if the light controller will still work if you run 6v or 7.2v (2s) batteries? I guess I can try in about 3-4 weeks when my order comes in :-)

the style of that light controller is the standard design used for non-surface based vehicles like drones and planes and the blinking feature is probably meant for navigation lights because as i understand it, according to the new FAA requirements all RC air vehicles that require FAA registered are also required to run blinking navigation lights the same as full size aircraft. all the surface vehicle light controllers I've seen and which i have myself, all are encased in hard plastic enclosures that kinda look like receivers. components designed for air vehicles are usually just heat shrinked instead of being enclosed a case to save weight, that's my best guess....

Ahhh quad lights. That makes total sense. For a ground vehicle i have no idea what they would be used for.

for some reason rc drifters are big on flashing lights especially the asian and european drifters

Ok I’m not a drifter guy so I guess hey do things differently.

it just dawn on me, my light controller is made for surface vehicles and it doesn't matter what size battery i use because it pulls all it's power from the servo leads, it doesn't even connect to the battery. i was looking at the sellers page and that controller is 3S only with an output of 12v so there's no voltage regulating circuit just current limiting so it doesn't blow the led's and your led's have to be wired with there own voltage reducing circuit so they can run at 12v right?

Hey man, thanks for this! I've been building controllers out of old servos for awhile too. My problem with that is I cheap out and only harvest boards from old, stripped out servos and my stock only has old analog boards. Now that I'm getting newer radios they are mostly digital only and as you probably know, analog servo boards and digital receivers don't always get along. So have you had any issues with those ebay controllers heating up when used on receivers rated for digital only servos? Or is that just a Spektrum quirk? The stock stuff I took out of my TRX4 seems to not play well with analog servo boards either so I'm thinking not.

I’ve run this controller with the GT3c, gt5 and 4pls radios without issue. I’ve never had any luck with a Spektrum ground radio and I get rid of them fast. I currently have one of these on my Losi SBR with the 4pls without issue. I’ve been told that if you mix analog and digital servos on the same radio it can cause issue.

I am wandering, the controller receiver wire has power which is going to receiver. you have given seperate power to receiver via BEC. looks you are giving multiple inputs to receiver ?

the wire you disconnected from channel 3. Please reconnect it and see if TAPPING the input on that channel will switch which lights are on. What you are doing is holding that channel on and the set is running through it's possible options. Try connecting it to channel 2 (for testing my theory) and 'blip' the throttle .... You'll get only the round lights ... then with another blip you'll get the round lights and one light bar, and with the next blip you'll get both light bars .. etc. Please?

I’ll have to see if I even have any of these left. If I recall correctly I did something similar when I was figuring them out and they only operate under full on position. Simple momentary style is just a quick on/off. Ch2 shouldn’t affect ch3 unless they are mixed with programming.
