      Bonjour Fabienne
      Et merci d'avoir pris le temps d'écrire.
      Je suis tout à fait d'accord avec toi, ces merveilleux édifices regorgent d'un travail minutieux des formes.
      Blickling Hall a une telle histoire et des salles si impressionnantes, ce fut une joie absolue de passer la journée à filmer l'histoire.
      J'espère que vous apprécierez de regarder les autres maisons seigneuriales de la série. Cordialement

    Outstanding series on some of the finest stately homes in UK. My family enjoyed a visit to Blickling years ago, when my brother lived in Norfolk, and my brother owns a fine original watercolor of the estate painted in the snow. Recommend Chris’s series on Norfolk piers if you enjoyed this.

    My interest interest in Blickling is more along the lines of the Boleyn family. "Rumor" has it they inhabited the former manor on the grounds and that Anne was born here. Still, this episode was extremely interesting. Love seeing manor homes that, sadly, will never feel my feet. Lovely job!

    • @ChrisBaileyPresents
      @ChrisBaileyPresents  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Tracey, and thanks for taking the time to watch the Blickling Hall story and to send a message. Yes, the current house was built early in the 17th century, on roughly the same footprint as the house that Thomas Boleyn & family lived in a century earlier.
      I would have loved to include the ghost stories in the episode but I was limited to just 12 minutes of film so sadly several stories & areas of the estate had to be missed off. Plus I had no images of the ghost so could only show a blank screen!
      I hope you enjoy the other Stately Homes too.

    This was actually the home of my 15th great-grandfather, Sir Geoffrey Boleyn, who was also Lord Mayor of London from 1457-1458
    The current house added to the original so much that it essentially replaced the first one which is the one he had.

    This was the childhood home of Jane Boleyn wife to the infamous George… Narrator says house is Jacobean but it must actually have been built during the reign of Henry VIII or even earlier. Why can’t people get their facts right before publishing a video

    • @ChrisBaileyPresents
      @ChrisBaileyPresents  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Elizabeth and thank-you for taking the time to comment. You are quite correct that Blickling Hall was the home of the Boleyn family, and most likely the birthplace of Anne Boleyn. Her grandfather bought it in 1452.
      However that Hall was sadly destroyed and when Sir Henry Hobart bought the estate in 1616, he built what we currently see.
      As the Jacobean period ran 1603 to 1625 (the reign of James I of England / James VI of Scotland) then my description of the house is actually historically correct.
      Jacobus is Latin for James and hence his reign is referred to as 'Jacobean' period.
      I do hope you have enjoyed the other Stately Homes in my series.

    Great house, but then in the library you talk of the ceiling and chimney piece, good enough, yet it is a library of books! Where is the discussion of the collection and its strength.and value of knowledge, historicity. The beauty of books is ignored!

    • @ChrisBaileyPresents
      @ChrisBaileyPresents  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment Donald, and it is a fair point that you make. In response, I was restricted in the story-length, just 12 minutes to cover the story of the whole estate which just wasn't enough. If I could go back and re-edit then I would! But the original footage has all gone so unable to do that.

      If you mean the Boleyn family, the narrator says clearly in a reply to you that the original house purchased by them no longer exists. The present house IS Jacobean. Your previous comments was not only rude but incorrect.

      I remember going there a few years ago and we had a very strange experience indeed. All the books in the library suddenly flew off the shelf as we were walking through it and we had to immediately take cover. The room went extremely cold and we heard this laugh, that I can only describe as pure evil. I got home and told my friend and he said something I’ll never forget. He said ‘It’s probably ghosts or something’.
