I’ve never made a homemade pie,but I am willing to try it. All of your recipes, that I have tried, have all been great. Best wishes to you and Martin for a fantastic Independence Day.🇺🇸
Omg Vonnie, strawberry rhubarb is my favorite! I use to live on a farm and it grew wild. When Martin taste it, be might want some for the cabin! Thanks!🥧🍓
Vonnie would you please do a video on how to make coleslaw. I am the WORST Coleslaw maker. Would you also do a video on some of the kitchen gadgets that are your go to like the vaccum sealer. I have one and have not a clue how to use it. LOL Everyone who watches your videos are very blessed.
I’m in my 70’s now, and I grew up eating strawberry rhubarb pie that my Mom would make. I have a rhubarb patch growing in our backyard that originally came from my folks rhubarb patch, which originally came from my grandpa’s rhubarb patch. His farm dated back to the 1700’s so it’s some real heritage rhubarb growing in my yard. My husband hates rhubarb though, and calls it my Poison Pie. More for me!
Well hello vonnie😊 This is my absolute fav fav pie. Never made it with tapioca.Looking forward to trying your recipe. I use same crust too. Have you any idea how to make rhubarb jello from scratch. I'm a silly girl (soon to be 70) who loves JELLO. Just plain no whipped cream any flavors. I can't figure out how to make the rhubarb 😢 Missed you and enjoy your day.😊
Linda, I found this allrecipes recipe for rhubarb jello. Don't know if this is what you're talking about www.allrecipes.com/recipe/49777/rhubarb-gelatin-salad/
Bonnie, I grew up in, and still live in the Deep South. I have never seen fresh Rhubard. I have not seen it in the frozen section of the grocery store either. It is available canned. Are you familiar with the canned rhubarb? I was wondering if 1 can would be enough mixed in with a package of fresh strawberries. Your pie looks delicious.
Rhubarb must be one of those things that needs a freeze, like lilacs. Look in the frozen fruit section of your store. I would find it odd if they did not carry itl There may even be some in the fresh fruits section for a bit. You can experiment with canned. I see some of it comes with a syrup which you would have to work around in the menu
Never seen rhubarb here in my area of Mississippi. I have bought strawberry and rhubarb in a can. Used it in making a fruit salad and liked it. Guess rhubarb does not like our hot and humid weather here like some flowers. God bless you and Martin in all y’all do. From deep southeast Mississippi
Hi Vonnie :) I see you froze your pie in a glass pie dish. after freezing - do you take it out of the dish before vacuum sealing? Then put back into a dish before baking? Also, have you frozen the large pies in disposable pie tins like you did with the little one? I can't wait to make this - it's always been one of my favorites! Thanks for sharing :) best to you both
Wayne, I couldn't vacuum seal the big pies because I don't have big enough vacuum bags. But I'm making the little ones more and more so they do fit in sealer bags. I do like your idea, in fact the pies are frozen so hard I could actually take them out and put them back in when I bake.
Vonnie, you do not mention if pie plate gets put into freezer along with pie. Or if not, that you place pie into plate for cooking. Or is that something I should know? tyia Happy 4th!
@@vonnieskitchenmartinsshack5544 you could always remove pie plate once pie is frozen. I was just curious since you do a lot of baking/cooking and would need that plate.
Yum! This is one of my favorite pies too! Thanks for the video!
Look delicious.....
Looks good Vonnie. I also like that one with a custard in it .
That looks so good. It’s making me hungry. If you had a bakery you would be rich. Homemade is the way to go thanks vonnie.
Don't know about that but I sure have fun
I am making this today to go with my pot roast! Vonnie you are WONDERFUL! I just love your videos.
Thanks Renae
❤🏆 #1 cook 😋 lock the freezer, Martin is on the prowl 😂😂the pie eating king😅
BUT this isn't with my moms crust!! That may hold him back
YES!! BUTTER ,😂
I know, most folks do the butter.

You could even start with a canned pie filler. Some aren't bad
I will remember the tip .👍
I bake apple pie in a paper bag. Works great
( put on a cookie sheet.
MARY, the gauntlet has been thrown down.

Only I know where I buried it in the freezer, Jan!
Hello Vonnie, really enjoyed watching this, that pie looked yummy, thank you.😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Christine

I will but you're not going to like it! I have a couple of others I'll put in the same video.

That is why I make little ones! And to me your rhubarb patch is a better inheritance than gold
@@chrisfrear8933 yupper! My hubby hates it too. I feel so bad😉😁
Your pie is a real thing
of beauty. I bet it was eaten up real quick as it sounds as good as what Martin calls Vonnie’s famous Cherrie Pies. 👍🏻❤️
It was and it was delicious1
Looks great I am going to try it
Let me know!
In our house we would agree, life is short, buy the pre made crust. Thanks Vonnie!
I took some little apple pies to church last week and so many just wanted to eat the crust.......argh! Go for the fruit!
@@vonnieskitchenmartinsshack5544 for sure!😊
I acquired 4 rhubarb plants with property we bought in Wyoming and I've been looking for recipes to use the stalks. Saving this one.
I'm rhubarb jealous!

With a dallop of vanilla ice cream to increase the yummy factor....
And that would cool the molten lava filling!
I’ve never had rhubarb. I planted some last year. It’s not fairing too well. Still really small and puny looking.
I've just had to replant mine, too. Still not doing great
