    Mame Khan is a living legend and comes from a long line of singers. He belongs to the Manganiar community that traditionally lived along the desert tracts of Barmer, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer and are musicians by tradition. Their music, which has a wide range from folk to high classical has been handed down from generation to generation. They found patronage in the courts of the Rajput kings. Although the Manganiars are Muslim by faith, a large portion of their repertoire revolves around Hindu devotional music. Another example of the religious syncretism of our motherland.

  • @AvaniVee
    @AvaniVee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    Aww I'm so glad you're appreciating the musical genius that Amit Trivedi is. He is talented, and abundantly creative as well. I feel when I listen to his music he has a depth of understanding of each instrument and he not only knows how to use that instrument, but he also knows when to let it shine as he did in this song. Amit is also one of the few music composers who blends Eastern and Western instruments seamlessly, and the sounds he creates through that blend take you on an imaginative journey. Much like A R Rahman, Amit is truly gifted in music. He was born to be a music composer. Some of his albums I highly recommend; Dev D, Queen, Kai Po Che, Bombay Velvet, Manmarziyaan, Aaiya and English Vinglish. *Just a note on Bombay Velvet - this album took 5 years to complete, and in my view, it's one of Amit's finest works. Because the film (BV) didn't do very well, the music album drowned in that noise, which was heartbreaking. Through the music, Amit re-creates that nostalgic 1960s Jazz era, and transports you into that time period, it's stunning. If you get a chance, do listen to Bombay Velvet. Amit also collaborated with the Philharmonic Orchestra since Jazz was an entirely new genre for him, but I think that's a testament to his own talent. He pushed himself out of his comfort zone to create this album, and in my view, it's one of the best music albums to have come out of Indian cinema! (And I really don't care what the 'so-called' critics think - most of them get paid to write rubbish and ruin careers).

    The music in India is vibrant, colorful, diverse, and just breathtakingly beautiful. Be it the folk songs, Carnatic, Hindustani, Bollywood any form it's just so great.
    in the lyrics the man calls his love to visit his village and eat Dal bhati and says he willl add extra "ghee" Fun fact if we add extra "ghee" in your food then we love you lots 😀

    Maame Khan is a genius with all extracts of the rich folk of Rajasthan and the Sarangi and Khartaal and that strong voice with variations is just transcendental. Folk music of every place specially of India is just transformational and heavenly.
