    Thanks for the review. Can't wait to try it out and compare to the original 10.

      Same here. Not actually tried it with the old 10yo side-by-side yet 😊🥃

    Expect this will trickle across The Pond at some point next year. I'll be interested to see what they'll end up charging here, the Original 10-year-old is $76.50.
    Our liquor control board is currently on strike and anything we purchase now will be coming direct from the craft distilleries, cideries, or breweries near us, and I prefer that anyway. It's a better way to support them.
    This sounds more interesting to me than the 10. The only one I have on my shelf is the Glenmo QR, as yet unopened. It was the favourite of a dear friend who passed away just about a year ago, and I'll be opening it on that anniversary.
    No harvest from the allotment today?
    Excellent review. Cheers Matt! 🥃🥃

      $76.50? the original 10yr is $39.99 in my ABC controlled state. I'll be curious if they stick to the 43% like the original 10yr is here

      @@HoStev Glad you're able to get it for a far more reasonable price! Ontario is expensive for any premium liquor but especially import items, and Scotch in particular. Also, the Glenmo 10 in our market is 40% ABV...😐 That +3% would make a difference. Cheers!

      Oh, the Quinta Ruban is a beauty too. It will be a fitting commemoration to your departed friend. It’s so delicious. And don't worry - this bottling will be everywhere in the world by the end of this year and will have fully replaced the old 10yo. No harvest on that day, sorry - was purely focussed on the new whisky in hand haha 😊🥃

    I look forward to trying this, Matt. However, I'd rather another 6% ABV than another 2 years in the casks, IMHO.

      It’s delicious. Thanks for your comment. We have answered your point about the ABV elsewhere in the comments after speaking with those involved in creating the whisky.

    Hi Matt, when I started my whisky journey in the begining of 1991 I came across on the old Glenmorangie 10 being into lovely tubes. I liked it. I still have half a bottle left of the version before the big rebranding. It is a decent and honest whisky. I am looking forward to trying and comparing the 12 year old to the 10 year old. Cheers and take care Oliver

      Hi Oliver, thanks for your comment. The old 10yo is certainly a classic and one of the first Scotch whiskies we properly enjoyed and understood. Let us know your thoughts when you try the two together and thanks for your story 😊🥃

    Looking forward to it arriving in the US at some point. The original was the first Scotch I liked. The Quinta Ruban is my current favorite. I did get a bottle of Signet recently, but have only had two tastings so far and still in a bit of shock at the price. 🙂

    They just released the 12 year old original here in America. And in America it is 43% abv retail here is $55-60. I’ve tried this, and this is a great whiskey, you get that sweetness and it is very smooth and easy to drink, and you get a more lingering aftertaste with this one. The 10 year old was good but it always had that heat/burn butwas never a bad whiskey. I think they will replace the 10 year with this one. I hope Glenmorangie releases another version of the Astar, that was my favorite.

    Wish they had gone up to 43 or 46 percent personally. Also - a side by side tasting with the existing 10 would be the best way to see if its better or worse
    thanks for the video.

      We have answered the ABV question in a previous comment - they wanted to keep it at the £40 price point and not alienate the majority of consumers that buy the previous 10 year old expression. And a side by side tasting is in the pipeline, so watch this space.

    Arran, bunnahabhain, Deanston are 3 examples of core bottlings at 46%. A larger producer is Loch Lomond 12. Glenmorangie could have done the same if they really wanted to.

    • @whiskyforeveryone
      @whiskyforeveryone  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We agree with the above and know there are core/ flagship malts bottled at 46%. However, none of them sell anywhere near the HUGE amount of the Glenmorangie and the others we mentioned. The Original (and Glenfiddich 12yo, Glenlivet Founders Reserve etc) are aimed at a wider consumer, rather than ‘whisky fans’, and many of those find 46% challenging and unappealing from experience. They could’ve moved to a higher %age but chose not to for the reasons we mentioned also. Hope that makes sense?

    Glenmorangie 10 was my first whisky too. Just wish this was at 46% like many of their other expressions.

      Same here - the 10 year old Original was a classic. We have answered the ABV query elsewhere in the comments. A core product from a massive brand at 46% ABV is highly unusual. Glenmorangie’s contemporaries in the Top 5 best-selling Scotch single malts - Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Macallan and Laphroaig - certainly don’t do it and are all at 40%.

    Not a huge fan of Glenmorangie. I am a peat fan and like far more sophisticated scotch. Hey we all have our preferences!

    • @whiskyforeveryone
      @whiskyforeveryone  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment Christine and for watching. And we find Glenmorangie sophisticated but just in a different way. It’s obviously as far from a peaty whisky as you can get, but as you say - we all have our preferences. The beauty of the whisky world is that there is something for everybody, hence our name 😊🥃
