Just picked up the TLR8A red laser for $150 shipped on EBay. Would have preferred the green laser but wasn’t going to pay the extra $100 just for the green laser. Looking forward to testing it this Saturday.
You sold me. Why not have all the upgrades? One of my instructors was against all these accessories bc it all adds weight and it might make you less accurate but with this product Im leaning to disagree with him

I reviewed the TLR7 on my channel and I was really impressed with it. I actually liked the overall light cone vs the X300. BUT.....the controls are it’s Achilles heel for me. I wear large gloves/large hands so reaching it shouldn’t have been an issue, but from my shooting grip I did struggle reaching it with my thumb to activate it. And did anyone else notice the TLR-8 in this video seemed to have a whiter light than the 7. Oh and if you don’t know TTI base pads are the bees knees.
Can't go wrong with the red either, especially for home defense. But if you have an 80 yard line of sight in your house you probably don't care about spending the extra $150 lol.

The reason for the ability to have one or the other is for tactical purposes, sort of. Light/laser discharge is important in tactical situations so as not to give away one's position - accidentally turning on a light is called a "negligent discharge," just like the firearm. Additionally, with having these features independent of one another you can use the laser in broad daylight - in 130 degree desert, you don't need any more heat-producing items, such as a Steamlight flashlight in your hands. They must be dropping the TLR-8 G soon, I just bought a TLR-8 with the standard red laser so I’m kind of upset now I didn’t know they were dropping one with a green laser.
I have a Surefire X400 but nobody makes a IWB or even an OWB holster for it. I prefer Surefire to Streamlight but because I can’t find any holster to fit my X400, I may have to settle for a TLR8.
If you like to appendix carry like I do, I would highly, highly recommend the Tier One Concealed Axis Slim. That holster is insanely comfortable, and I carry a full size 17 with a TLR-8 on it every day. It also has a spare magazine caddy built into it as well that you can put a full size magazine in, and they will adjust how deep the spare mag sits if you use magazine basepads or extended mags. Even with a spare mag and the full size 17 in the holster, it never prints on me and i'm a 6'3" 210lb dude. I'm not a rail skinny guy by any stretch of the imagination, but I wear it for over 10 hours every single day with no problems or discomfort. It also has a joint between the mag caddy and the holster itself that hinges and the caddy is held in place with the holster by use of a shock bungie cord that is flexible, but very solid. It's also got a concealment claw on it as well, so in total the holster design really sucks that gun tight into your belly to reduce printing to an absolute minimum, if any at all. The retention is adjustable, and honestly is rock solid once you have it dialed in to your personal preference. I tell all my friends that carry about Tier One concealed and their appendix carry holsters, but they do make strongside holsters as well i believe. Their lead times can be a bit long depending on when you're ordering it and if you want anything custom done, but their customer service is excellent and the designs of their holsters rock. Please be careful shining that up in the air. Green laser travels far and can blind a pilot. Even if you don't live around a big airport there are small planes flying around all the time. Especially in more rural areas outside cities like L.A.
