    I found this scene to be the most interesting in the movie. N'Jobu starts his talk by mentioning how happy he is that his son found a way into Wakanda, and then he reminisces about Wakanda's beautiful sunsets. But then, the happy expression quickly turns to bitterness, as he tells his son that Wakanda may not accept him, despite his lineage. The bitterness then turns into regret, when he realizes that N'Jadaka is truly lost (metaphorically speaking; "No tears for me?") and that he had some responsibility in N'Jadaka's life path ("Well, look at what I have done...I should've taken you back long ago."). In the final seconds before N'Jadaka awakens, N'Jobu is just silent. I interpret his silence as a mixed feeling to N'Jadaka's belief that Wakanda is the one that's lost, not them. He probably agrees that Wakanda is lost too, but he is worried that two lost souls trying to find their ways in life may lead to more loss rather than enlightenment.

    • @MerlinTheCommenter
      @MerlinTheCommenter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +91

      Everything was good until the end. The idea of the scene is that N'Jadaka is full of void and rage, eroded from years of honing his efficient military killing to numb the pain of what had happened to his father. Becoming a killing machine was a volatile attempt at coping with pain and loss.

    • @koek1122

      @@MerlinTheCommenter I think he is right. N'Jobu did think Wakanda was lost as well. But he realised at that moment, that his actions... did lead to more lost and pain than fixing the problem.

      People saying he didn’t fail but he did. His actions of betraying Wakanda and attempting to shoot Zuri directly led to his death, which left a son without a father. We can say that T’Chaka should’ve taken him in, and he should’ve, but he also wouldn’t have had to kill his father had he not been a traitor. His actions led to his son not having a father around to teach him the right way, and not to grow up angry and furious at the world.

    “They will say that you’re lost”
    “”But I’m right here”
    This is the deepest and best line in this movie as a black person from America who doesn’t know their original roots. Us as a people aren’t lost we just need the outreach or information of who we are. We are the same people that need aid to a degree but it’s annoying how we are outcasted

    I was expecting my first born back in 2018 when this film came out. I was extremely emotional. Being a young father in my 20s not knowing what to expect because I had a provider but never a father figure. At 13 I got lost, joined a gang became angry and hated everyone and trusted no one. I deeply hated my life and in my own mistakes hurt everyone around me for my own selfish choices But when you become a father something changes deeply in you that your finally scared for once because your heart is FINALLY exposed for the whole world and tear you down through your own child. Your child is your heart in human form. My grandfather was murdered in front of my father when he was 8. Along with his 2 brothers. At 8 my father had to become a man along with my other two uncles. That generational curse was never broken and that hate Carried over to my family.
    I cried deeply watching this scene. This scene hit me in a place where I didn’t even know exists. I lost myself through my actions and choices that left me abandoned and angry at the world and only pain made me cope. But when my son was born something in me woke me up and made realize it was okay to love again.
    To all the fathers out there do not let this movie go over your head. Their is a powerful message in this movie and it’s about the importance we play as a father to our children. The choices they make while finding to be their own person in this fucked up world. This movie and scene awakened skeletons in my closet that I needed to face in order to become a better man. I hope this message helps others to face their demons as well.

    at 1:35 where erik goes from an adult to a kid absolutely kills me. its him going back and experiencing emotionsthat he hasnt felt since his father’s passing. hes never truly healed from his fathers death just grown hateful and bitter to the people that did this to his father. he never healed his inner child. causing it to come out in this scene. in comparison to tachalla being secure and knowing how to react in the ancestral plane. meanwhile erik doesnt know what to do and wakes up scared and angry. experiencing those same feelings as when he found his father the first time.

It has all changed me. T’Chaka must see what we can do, how we can change the course of time for the people who struggle so much in this land. Strangers to me, but my brothers and sisters still. How can I look at them, with the same skin as me, stolen from the same place I came from and not reach out to them? How can I sit idly by and watch in pain and return to Wakanda as if there was nothing to see at all? Who am I? A war dog who will not leave the lost tribe behind again. Who are you, my son? You will ask this one day and know the answer: N’Jadaka, son of N’Jobu.”

Best non villain, villain of marvel by far, his dad knew he was lost as soon as he didn't react to the magic of being able to speak with him again. I just think some other Nigerians use it in a derogatory way, but the word in its language on its own is not malicious. It all depends on context.

    I believe this could maybe shed some light on the fact that while Erik still has an angry, scared and hurt child within him he hasn't yet fully healead, which in turn, makes him act in ways that are more emotional and revengeful than pondered and reasonable, T'Challa already has a wiser and mature man within him which shows in his behaviour, as he tries to learn and do what's best for his people, but also others

      He's referring to the fact that by now his son is completely unmoved by the miracle of speaking with his fathers spirit after a lifetime without him. At first Killmonger was motivated by the loss of his father. But through the years he's become consumed with hatred to the point his father is no longer really a factor. He's solely motivated by his hate of wakanda and his desire for power. He spent his life turning himself into an instrument of vengeance and lost his humanity. Or something like that.
