That's also a good time to grease all the 6 zerk fittings on the shafts. Red (high speed applications) grease and Moly grease (dark, graphite lithium based) on the yokes where it slides. The yokes usually make that clunking sound on the rear when coming to a stop.

I just got done changing the t case fluid on my gx. And less than a quarter of fluid came out. But i just heard you say that it has to be at operating temperature?

Just wanted to say I think its better to have the rear wheels on the ramps and the front of the car on jack stands. Reason being that the rear wheels are the ones that lock when you use the emergency /parking brake. I did some work on my gx and had it setup like in your video and it rolled backwards off the ramps and nearly crushed me even though the brake was engaged.

I did a transfer case fluid change and just like in your video the drained fluid looked like ATF (not like gear oil) and it smelled like ATF not like gear oil. My question is there a factory reference to the fluid we should use in the transfer case? I put gear oil in as everyone else usually puts in transfer case, but it really got me thinking that we might kill the transfer case earlier if we put gear oil in there instead of the ATF fluid that looks like that what it is in the video and in my case as well. Red, flows easy, not as thick as gear lube. Any input by anyone who knows anything would be appreciated.
ATF is very distinctly red in color. I used gear oil in the TC, not ATF. As long as you’re changing the fluid, you’re good to go. Don’t over think it. Remember to like the video and consider subscribing if you haven’t already.
Noah kraft Thanks for the comment. SuperTech is good oil and meets all the same API standards as major brands. I would trust it in my Porsche if they made the right weight for it. More importantly, get a quality oil filter. Make sure to subscribe for more content.
Yeah it should be full synthetic bud. Just saying. And me personally, a certified technician who provides warranty and technical support on transfer cases and differentials. Always go with the full synthetic gear oil recommendations per the OEM.

Agent J I do mine every 30,000 miles or 3 years. I’m very proactive with my fluid changes though and you can likely go much longer.
Use mobile 1 not that the Walmart is horrible but for a few bucks more you get a quality synthetic oil.
