One of the best WWII epics ever made! We're NEVER going to get something like THIS ever again!
Sir Richard Attenborough. He was great in 1966 with Steve McQueen
@@RONDEFUHRER-lj9pcСоветские фильмы о войне посмотрите!
My father took me to see this when it came out. I still remember moments from it, like Robert Redford saying his Hail Marys rowing across the river. What a cast.
how many legend Hollywood stars do you want Mr.Attenborough?
Yes
Gustav von Aschenbach ignores three blurry photos of tanks.
The Jackal sends Harry Palmer up a narrow road, where he meets Trapper John McIntyre.
Barry Lyndon sends The Sundance Kid to take both ends of a bridge at once, aided by Cliff Claven.
Sonny Corleone threatens to shoot Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law, if he doesn't look at the captain.
James Bond has lunatics laughing at him from the woods, one of them being Dr. John Hammond.
Marcus Brody's weather forecast is little help.
Popeye Doyle's men get machine gunned by the Germans when they parachute in.
Captain Potzdorf must hold the bridge at all costs.
Hannibal Lecter ends up surrendering to The Man in the Glass Booth.
Pope Joan and Richard III are just trying to survive.
The critics are 100% wrong about this movie, it's one of the best movies of the 1970s.
It lost to Star Wars.
But it didn't feel as if General Urquhart was hiding in the attic of a Dutch house for 39 hours.
you literally can't make a bad movie with a cast that stacked. They could've made Mac & Me an oscar contender with that lineup.
Total agreement saw it at movies ! And music is best ,I have it on vinyl
Absolutely! I just watched in observance of Memorial Day and it just keeps getting better. You could never make a film with that much star power today - It'd cost a trillion dollars! Superbly acted and beautifully directed. I am still in amazement of how Attenborough pulled off that parachute drop scene.
I hiked thru the Nijmegen area as a 19 yr old American soldier. I looked down the Waal River from the very bridge that got assaulted to where they crossed. It was a sight that left me in total awe of the men who went across in those fragile boats. That took a lot of guts to cross that very wide river exposed to so much enemy fire!
R.I.P James Caan (1940-2022).
Had THE (pronounced thee) best scene of this movie! Awesome actor!!
The downside of this great film is that the stars never interact. But for an epic classic, you never get lost! A great film on every level.
"How many bloomin' stars do you want in your movie?"
"By golly, I do."
One of the finest great movies I have ever watched.
Unthinkable courage valour .
And varage colour, too!
One of my favorite movies
I remember watching a lot of movies like this on the AXN channel when I was a kid, great stuff!!!
My father was a Para from 42-57. His original unit was 156Bn. His only comment was how closely some of the actors portrayed the actual officers. He thought the portrayal of the intelligence officer was very accurate.
We need that 4K guys
Check that cast. Unbelievable
Late great James Caan was great as tough American paratrooper
The whole reason I'm an armchair WW2 buff :D
used to watch it with my old man.
'I had nothing else planned for this afternoon, (sir)'. It is always the irish sent in first
Yes.
That era of Holly Gone with the wind
Sad.
There are two scenes with Sean Connery when the crazy people escape from the asylum and when you hear birds it seems like they are laughing at the soldiers it is great cinema.
A great movie, but my goodness, they couldn’t even keep the trailers short back then.
Yeah, 😂 I just saw a TH-cam short and came to see the trailer to whether see the movie or not. But It presented more context then it should.
Moreover people in comments said RIP Sir Cannes. So I guess he might die.
So few spoilers before head.
@@abhitiwari5346James Caan was an actor.
@@Lawrence_L1 💀 I am sorry for the loss.
@abhitiwari5346 Haha, I didn't know him personally lol. I think he played the guy who gave the briefing.
@Lawrence_L1 I know about that, It was a sorrow for loss in cinematic industry. Because I was lightly joking while mentioning someone who passed away.
Good ensemble cast. Too bad a lot of them have passed away in recent years.
Rest in peace Sean Connery and Dirk Bogarde.
I just love this movie. It´s years ago I saw it. Anybody knows a platform to watch it online?
Awesome movie!!!
GREAT MOVIE!
The best movie.
pan ! pan ! repan ! !
prend ça ! et ça ! et encore ça ! !
The sad thing is that the producers, directors, writers, cast and crew put a hundred times more effort into making this movie than the Allied commanders did while planning Market Garden itself
Awesomeness job
stella cast awsome film
Needs 4K Ultra HD Blu ray disc release 100GB Triple layer Dolby Vision+Atmos

En toen bleek er een elite SS divisie bij Arnhem gelegerd te zijn 'op vakantie'. Het plan kon al niet lukken, maar toen die divisie er zich in mengde was het onmogelijk te winnen.

"The story of the most dramatic and devastating battle of WW2."
**Doubt meme**
Just think De Niro turned down the Robert Redford role, an ego as big as the film, his loss
After collage I landed a job as head archatech and I building stuff but the stuff I build kept falling over or braking so I started to be superstitious an ended up hiding dry aged beef products inside the walls of the buildings and since then no buildin I have builded has fallen
