Sometimes I put out a video without thinking about some good thumbnails ahead of time.... This was one of those times.

Nice video! It's tough to make a message that resounds in a way the target audience can hear it and make use of it. I'm not the target audience (in my opinion), but either way I think its a great talk that could really help some folks make some connections that will help them succeed. I hope so! Thanks!
Advice I can add: When I was working on improving in this area I bought some books on how to make sales. It was very helpful on the cold approach.

      Thanks for supporting the channel!
The sales books are a great suggestion, and it's one of the best ways to learn cold approach too.

Regarding the resume photo? My dad works for a fortune 50 chip firm. Has done for most of my life. He's in a place where he does interviews. He throws those ones out.
Photo in the email you send it in tho? That's a good idea.
Just keep in mind that simple is best for a resume/CV. Machines are screening them. Don't make that harder.

I've heard most in HR don't like having the photo, but some people on a team like to see a photo ahead of time. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go without, but I do like the idea of having one.
Did your dad say why he doesn't like having the photos on the resume vs. having it sent in the email signature?

@@KenHarrisio That depends on country/continent, UK/USA, not so much, Germany or other European countries I guess photos are very common.

Great stuff. Just curious, will you make a video about certs? I have been hearing so much fuss about them recently and how "it will surely land you a job if you get the ... certification".

I'll be covering certs in a future video. I'm guessing you're considering getting into IT?
As far as certs go, I don't recommend trying to get more than one or two. You'll just spend a bunch of money. The biggest function of these is to be able to get past the HR gatekeeper and get an interview. I recommend people to just get started as soon as they can, which is a matter of applying and getting interviews. You can always get more certs later on once you have a better idea of where you want to go in IT.
That said, Cisco and Red Hat certs are pretty well respected and not priced too high to get on your own dime.

@@KenHarrisio I am indeed thinking of getting into IT. Actually, I am thinking of doing my CCNA exam this summer, fingers crossed. Personally, my intention of doing the CCNA was not even for the certification itself, but more about getting deeper knowledge of networking which I have been lacking. I saw quite a few discussions however of people recommending to get certification as if they're some sort of magic for sole purpose of landing a job 🙂

@@diet_lemonade It'll depend as far as how useful it is. There's some hiring managers that really like to see some certs, especially from companies like Cisco and Red Hat because of the testing process. It shows that someone put in the work to get it done.
Others don't really care. A lot of people are in the middle though, where it'll help you get to the interview, which is where you can close the deal. One of the best things I ever heard when I was getting in the market was that the resume gets you the interview, and the interview gets you the job. If you're solid in the interview and you are good enough with the skills part (you don't need amazing skills), you'll get a job.
