It would have been great if this Spektrum had been worthy to start a competition. It usually means lower prices and faster innovation on both ends.

Just picked up a furitek cayman PRO. What receiver would you recommend? Also what battery can I run? I thought I picked up the rtr but just got the PRO and would appreciate the help. Thank you
Looking forward to the UTB18 review. The LPro BEC rating does NOT deliver under load for serious crawling. I’m adding a Castle BEC to get things right, but I do love the mini platform and would like to see something functional in the mix!

Love that you are keeping it real! I would not want that Spectrum junk! Saw a couple videos and it does look terrible. Maybe not as junk as stock, but still junk.
I might have to swap out my lizard pro and my castle bec! Was browning out with 2 hv servos and the internal bec.

Any idea when they migjt start shipping these? I pre ordered the day you posted this video. Then i ordered a cayman kit. The kit came in so all im waiting on is the ESC. I want to play with it so bad😂
Amazing how much Horizon is asking for an rtr brushless ESC...if the SCX24 or AX24 came with the "new" ESC, I would be changing it out at the same time I swap out the servo.
I really want to see the Komodo and Mini Komodo run on 4S since they are rated for it. I know Nick at MoFo admitted once that his Nano Beast 2.0 (2700kv) motor is technically rated for 4S as well, but he has never actually tested it so I'm curious about that one too.

When I was researching what motor esc to use and I saw the performance and then the reviewer saying that the firma is good... I couldn't help but think they are clearly being paid to give positive reviews even if it was obviously not good. I'm glad you're honest, you put out very helpful content.

I’m new to the RC hobby, I picked up a Trx4m and now have changed almost everything on it. My question is in your opinion, would the furitek Python be good to run with the purple injora motor ? I really don’t like the stock esc and controller, thinking of switching over to maybe the Flysky either gt5 or the nb4
Yeah the Python or lizard pro would definitely work well with pretty much any motor. You will have to change the motor connector if your using the Injora purple motor that plugs directly into the Trx4m. I’d definitely go with the gt5 imo. The noble is great but not worth the price for the micros imo. The flysky is much cheaper and has better micro receivers. I rarely use my nb4 anymore. Since getting the Radiolink I use it and my gt5. Hope that helps!

super cool whats the difference between the python and the lizard ultimate they look very similar, ive been running my lizard ultimate for a month or 2 now in my trx4m and I really like it
Main difference is the ultimate has a 3A built in bec and the Python has a 5A. Not a ton of difference between the standard Python and ultimate besides that.
Are you sure the AX24 electronics can work with 8.4 V BEC? (And SCX24 v1?).
Did you test it? Confirmation would be cool (I am afraid of breaking more RC units in micros because of testing this ;-) ).
I’ve ran the stock servos at 7.4 in this a bit just to see if it would work. Haven’t did 8.4 just because I never really had a system that would run it installed with the stock stuff. I’m usually ripping all that out lol. I can install my lizard ultimate in it and try them on 8.4 sometime. This standard Python was limited at 7.4 so that’s all I tried. I would say either way the stock servos probably won’t last long at 7.4 or 8.4 lol
@@2fmrc You misunderstood my question.
The question is not, if the servo does work with 8.4 V, the question is, if the receiver unit does.
Because if this would be the case, you finally wouldn't have to run any BEC anyway, you could run directly from a 2s Lipo (but not 3s then).
I made such a build with a Flysky micro receiver, which does work with up to 9 V.
In this case, a BEC is not necessary (if you run only 2s, not 3s), and you can run your HV servo.
But I doubt (but am not sure) that the receiver does run on 8.4 V, maybe it will break.
If not, this would be super nice, but I will not test.
Here is such a truck without any BEC, direct 2s Lipo driven (servo and receiver):

But if you wanna run 3s, then you could use an ESC (Furitek) with HV BEC (8.4 V) and simply plug it into the CH2 out of SCX24 v1 elo or AX24 Elo. Then your servo will run on 2s (as does the receiver unit) and the motor on 3s.
This is an interesting question IMO - will the receivers work on 8.4 V?

I'm So Excited. Ive Been Running A Injora MB100 Brushed ESC For Some Time Now On My Defender TRX4M With A Mofo Torque Beast X. I Tested A Latrax 370R Motor And That Was Insane. Then My Buddy With A Ford HiTrail Got A Cedar Motor On A Furitek. For Such A Small Motor That Thing Rips All Over My Modified Torque Beast X!!!! It's Not As Fast As My 370 Set Up But I'm Just Imaging Like A 2430 Brushless Set Up On Mine Now. Then I Saw The Adjustability In The App And I Just About Lost My Mind. And Then The Slow Crawl He Had Was Nuts And That's That He's Running Over Drive Trans And Under Drive Diffs. I'm Just Too Excited To Go Furitek As Well

My Capra 18 has brown out issues with a reefs raw 500 servo and Furiteks power system. Rarely happens but it has a few times.
He made a video showing a cheap plug in work around for that issue!

@@F4izzle it’s only a few vids back, can’t remember the title of the vid but the work around is a 5$ capacitor called the glitch buster. I don’t even have a Capra and I picked up a couple of them hahahah

Have You Actually Tested The Drag Brake On Brushed Motors? I Have A Python Pro On A Brushed 180 In My TRX4M And The Drag Brake Does Not Function At All. I've Reached Out To Furitek For Help And Waiting For A Response. I Have A Feeling The Drag Brake Only Works On Brushless Motors.

There’s a lot of value in the cayman setups. Is it my favorite chassis? No, but it’s still good and definitely the best place to start vs a stock truck. The shocks on it are the main thing I would consider upgrading first as they have a tendency to stick bad. Besides that you could run it for a good while just as it comes imo.

@@rcjoe406 it is a beast! Just make sure you have a good brushless motor to run it. Those axles and scx24 transmission require a good motor. Brushed don’t hardly cut it with that setup.

I was initially excited to hear the news of a new 1/24 ecu option and from such a big name but when I heard the details I felt underwhelmed. Then I started watching the youtube reviews and everyone ignoring the blatant downfalls of the system. 1S-2S capable only? no tuning options? cmon! That's a hard stop for me already! How could they honestly look at the competition and say. . ...nah, our name enough will carry us! I just don't get it sir!

Dang I had high hopes for that spektrum system. Oh well. No reason to waste money on it then. Furitek stuff is quite pricey but if it is worth buying, then i don't mind paying more for quality.

Definitely not cheap man but like if you think about it for what you get and what you can do and how bad you can feed it up and pretty damn good for the money you pay I get pissed off at them too especially when their stuff don't work right or the update don't do what it's supposed to but

The reason axial won’t send you anything is because you tell the truth. The scx24 is solid but axial/horizon are just riding it out like a tt02.
I used to think furitek electronics are expensive but All the spektrum system does is show how good of a value the furitek parts are. Gonna be ordering a python soon.
Edit: tell the truth is kinda a hard black and white. I should say You tell it how it is. No BS, no fluff.
Yeah and normally I don’t let it bother me but these companies are holding out more and more on me and it gets aggravating. I won’t change though so I’ll just be delayed on my reviews until they actually ship!

Same! The fusion is insane on a 1/10. Hard to beat that all in one AND it’s crazy smooth. They really have it figured out with that setup.

If the Spectrum was a 2-1 motor and Esc combo with a actual BEC would have been cool. Fumbled the bag
I have to agree, i see all the other people, not gonna say who, showing this motor and they are saying they think its an upgrade and im over here cringing at the jumpiness of it. Some of the stock motors perform better and they arent even brushless! Honestly even if the motor combo was 50 dollars i still wouldnt buy it.
I'm actually curious how much just the motor is going to be once they start selling it separately from the ESC. I'd spend $25 or $30 just to try it out on a Furitek ESC since it's a direct bolt on. Bet it'd be 1000% better than anything we've seen of the $90 combo yet.
