Burnt out fatigue from connectivity is something I suffer from. Sometimes you just need to disconnect and just focus on you. I’ve found gravel riding and not switching devices on is pure catharsis. Good luck Katie, you’re a gem.

Hi Katie, I am glad to hear that you are feeling better both with your hand but also mentally.
Without wishing to sound patronising but you are showing an inner strength and maturity to realise something is wrong and that you need to take a break or at least have more fun in your life and not be constantly "on" thinking about filming and creating content.
It also highlights your wisdom in not chasing views etc and being content and recognise how brilliant your channel already is and you don't want to lose what you have by burning yourself out and not enjoy what you do.
So please take all the time you need and those who care will still be here when you are ready.
Look after yourself and have some fun ❤

I personally love your content Katie - you're so relatable and honest :) Thanks for sharing what you've been going through - it's a good reminder that we all need breaks, whether it's from training or work. I think we've all been there and can relate to the lack of motivation, constant fatigue, etc. I'll bet you're describing what a lot of people are going through so it's like you're leading us by example :) Take your time, feel better, and we'll be here when you're ready 💜

Burnout is such a terrible soul-destroying, energy-draining, life-sapping experience that I can totally relate to (although not in a social media context). It's great to hear that you've self-diagnosed and taken time away from work and the bike to do other things you enjoy.
Please look after yourself Katie. I love your videos, but I more importantly knowing that you are healthy, happy and energised and loving life is much more important. Nothing is more important than your physical and mental health, or your real relationships with friends and family.

Katie, you’re not alone! I’m also going through exactly the same thing. I went on a week long bikepacking trip in July and spent a week editing all the videos for my TH-cam channel. I’ve felt exactly the same as you since, no motivation to ride or make videos. So I can truly relate to the pressures and fatigue you feel. I’ve just had some time for me, spent it with my wife and just know, the feeling will come back for the enthusiasm to ride and make videos. So take your time! It’s actually nice to hear I’m not alone feeling this way! Take care!

Good to hear that you've recognised some issues and are addressing them. Your balance between hobby and work is crucial and it's ok to do nothing; its good for the soul. We have to love ourselves first before giving to the world; otherwise we end pouring from an empty cup. As others have said, we're not going anywhere and will always support you. Take care of yourself chuck. Xx 😊

I am so pleased that you have had a holiday. Your work is filming cycling, your leisure is cycling, so you needed a holiday. It’s healthy to take some time off. So glad that your ok !
Ignore those that rush to judge , as you said your hobby is your job , we turn to cycling as an escape … where do you go.
It’s great that you have raised this issue because your not alone , there are a lot of us struggling , the back is bad again this year and I’ve not been able to cycle & fundraise & I too am struggling with no escape from work & life pressures.
So pleased that your back to your chirpy self , you got this x

Katie, TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF IS YOUR TOP PRIORITY !!!!! I'm suffering from job burn out, so I can relate to what you are feeling. I can't imagine how you cycle, film, edit, and post your videos. All of those events take time. There the issue of what type of rides you want .. where to do them .. being alone or with friends .. etc. You do this week in and week out. Know wonder you're tired and burnt out. Do your videos when you want to and make them fun. Thank You for sharing your frustrations. We'll be here when you are ready to post.

Nice one Katy - very honest and genuine. I think your channel / content has a really personal, individual feel to it and this video just added to that. We’ve probably all been through a bit of a lull/low/depression even; recognising it, giving yourself time and space is really helpful to you and helpful to share with others. Great to hear you’re feeling more motivated, long may it continue! Just keep your balance :)

Thanks for the recent event on Zwift, a climb up Alpe de Zwift. I'm 69, and so when I went further for 45 minutes than normal, that was all I needed. At nearly 59 minutes in, it was obvious I wouldn't finish in under 1 hour, so that was it. It isn't what you can do, but what you can keep doing that counts. How you feel the next day tells you more objectively about how you are actually doing today. I've learned to be at peace with my frailties. Hope you will enjoy more peace, too.

Hi Katie, Great to see you back. I think what you have experienced what a lot of TH-camrs have been through. There is a constant pressure for Tubers to consistently provide content and for all the reasons you mention. So it is normal to feel that way. I think paring back the content is a good idea in order to relieve the pressure. People are interested in you and will continue to watch no matter how frequent the videos may or may not be. As in all walks of life you should do the things that make you happy.....don't turn the things you love into a chore. My advice would be to do a video when you want to not when you feel you need to. It seems your period of reflection has put you in a better place and for that I'm sure we are all grateful. Much love Katie and happy cycling!

  • @Rachaelmadethis
    @Rachaelmadethis ปีที่แล้ว

I totally recognise what you were saying about your experiences - I think creative output definitely ebbs and flows, I have found it beneficial to go with the flow - when I’m not feeling fired up and full of ideas - that’s my signal to rest, do something different and to wait for my creative mojo to come back - it always does. Everyone needs a break sometimes and we (your audience) probably don’t see 5% of the work you must put into making your videos, and marketing what you do - so don’t feel bad about taking time off. Sounds like you are doing all the right things. We will all be there waiting when you are ready to get back into making more videos - thank you for letting us into your life of cycling, you are really a big inspiration to me and I’m sure many other female cyclists..

Every early subscriber is still here down to wanting to vibe with you. Social media can be so much about pleasing others, but if you just do what pleases you, everyone will love it anyway.
I go crazy with back to back weekend camps a lot, and film it, but then I just don’t feel it sometimes so I take it for me time. The true gauge of I’m doing it right, is if I’m smiling.

😊Health first and foremost Katie, especially mental refresh. I am going through a similar time at the moment and you have a wonderful connection on screen which is authentic and emotionally fuelled partially by your internal energy. A healthy mind will equal better creativity and fun content and it is the content not the volume that really matters. Those that have been following you for time wont be going anywhere. I think partially outsourcing some of your work to give you space is a great solution. Take care now.

Great job Katie. Take a break and regroup. You’ve made a name for yourself and are forever documented in the U tube network. It takes a very talented, motivated, creative, dedicated individual to go as far as you have. Keep on moving in a positive motion no matter what you are doing. You’ve already proven that your successful and self driven. The fact that you share a part of your life and make it so interesting and fun is a motivational inspiration to all of us that want to stay healthy or start getting healthy with exercise. You may not know this but you have already made an impact in a lot of people’s lives just by sharing your experience with a bicycle and staying in shape. Thank you for helping me by sharing Beautiful experience’s. I’ve even bought a GoPro and filmed some of my coastal rides. I was going to message to you during the ride that you shouldn’t apologise about needing time off work. We all do! And I know some content creators make a bunch of videos which they air during their break. What about replaying some of your videos in Australia? I thought they were fantastic.

Katie, I had the privilege of chatting to you briefly at the end of Ride Out and I probably didn’t explain all that well, but your energy and enthusiasm comes across in such an authentic way that makes your content appealing to so many of us - but to have that energy all the time is impossible. Don’t sweat taking time off, many of us have the fortunate thing called holiday allowance that content creators don’t. But worry not, the algos will keep serving us quality Kookaburra content even when you’re resting. Take the time you need, for yourself before cycling becomes your busman’s holiday :)

Hi Katie. I've no idea if this helps, but there is evidence of withdrawal-like symptoms when participating in physical activity is curtailed, following an injury, for example. On a personal level, from riding virtually every single day to being unable to ride or work for 8 weeks due to torn wrist tendons following a crash, I experienced anxiety, mood swings and 'depression'. Basically, I was a royal pain in the ar*e to be around. Although I no longer cycle (my ride is now a Honda ;) ) I work out hard at least 4 times every week and experienced similar episodes of depression and mood swings a few years ago when I became quite ill and could not go to the gym. I wish you well and hope you have a speedy recovery. Maybe one day when I am back in the UK, I'll tow you over the Isle of Skye road...on my Honda, of course!

Looking forward to more of your journey. Oh yeah I think that’s a great decision to keep it just as you for now - you’ll be keeping it pretty real and no doubt you’ll keep growing organically. 👍👍👍

Time to take care of Katie! So hard as what we might consider a holiday for you is really work so you defo need a break. You NEVER come across as complaining - thanks for sharing as there's too much falseness on socials we need more "this is what it is". Yes we will be here when & if you feel like popping something up. You have motivated me so much & I've learnt a lot from your films. Be good to yourself.

I have left social media for a while, the only thing I’m currently using is TH-cam, on 7th sept I will be 30 days!
It’s all too much sometimes so totally understand, your such a lovely lady so just do what is right for you, you don’t have to do something for others 😘

I only watch TH-cam I ditched insta and twitter this year and never bothered with other platforms. I just haven't got time for it and I find it very vacuous and egocentric.

Put your health first Katie. Without it nothing else matters! I know quite a few other YTers who've seemed a lot happier when they've outsourced the editing. You will know what's right for you. Don't overthink the content, we watch for you being your authentic self and inspiring us all to get our on the saddle. Hope you get some good news on your hand.

You earned another subscriber with this video, when you said that you'll be keeping things as they are. The more "natural" and sporadic the videos on a channel, the more likely I am to watch them. Take care!

Hi Katie, missed you for sure and good to see you back. Like you I've had a dull year and just laid off a bit, compared to normal years, but I haven't had the self imposed pressure of filming rides etc. My advice would be step away, go on a 'fly and flop' break, sit by the pool, beach lake -you choose, solo or with family, and you will get the spark back. with regards your way forward dilemma, just remember 'what's meant for you won't go past you'. Take it easy, chill out, we'll all miss your smile and videos but we'll still be here when you get back🥰

Great share Katie. Kudos to you for continually be so authenticate to yourself and all of your followers. I think your feelings are quite understandable. And maybe inevitable. Frequent, sustained content creation and vlogging is in the history of human development a complete unknown. Only with time will we really know if it’s a sustainable way of life. Not meaning to throw further doubt into the situation at all, just provide an external viewpoint to empathise. You are one of the pioneers, breaking new ground. That comes with some risk so keep questioning what is best for you.
