Thank you so much!!!!! I’m still learning and some times have little patience to watch a 20 + minute video on how to do this stuff. You made it so simple and to the point. Extremely helpful!!!!!!!
Thank you for showing the process from beginning to end and showing the difference in each of the vinyl cuts instead of just saying what will happen. I am a visual learner and appreciate the video
So pleased I found this video, it makes so much more sense to me now. Im a visual learner, I found your video clear and easy to absorb, it was packed perfectly with no waffle, just straight to the point and accurate. I'm now going to go through all the videos to learn some more. I've only just received my cricut maker, I've made a few errors but mainly with not knowing the differences in some of the vinyls because the bundle that I got with it didn't have any indicators of type. I've watched a couple of videos on how to identify types, some are obvious but others aren't...I'll have a look to see if you have a video on this... I'll keep going till it sinks in . Thanks again
Great video. It took me forever to figure this out. I use weld for my words, and then put boxes around for weeding boxes and use attach. Thanks for being great!
Images can be attached and detached. Once something is attached the option to weld is still available. There is no unwelding option (except to click the undo arrows), nor is the attach option available for the items that have been welded. I hope that helps!
You will want the letters to be a little bit thicker so when you weld them they are closer together. You can also do an offset to put behind the letters.
You're welcome. Let us know if you have any additional questions. Also, here is the link to all the other Cricut Videos that we have - th-cam.com/play/PL3ghl46Qz0pTWkbCBbQfBloYaOfVHz090.html
Your tutorials are so clear! Thank you. Do you know why the letters are spaced apart when entering text in Design Space? If I use the same system font in Word, for example, the text is perfect. Just curious.
Hi, it's just a setting within Design Space. Rather than bringing them in together they come in more like images and have different spacing. Unfortunately there isn't a way to change it. Thank you for tuning in!
Thank you! First how do you know when you need to choose weld and when you choose attach? Also, if I weld one of my “e” ‘s is filled in. How do I correct that?
If ever you want your letters touching then you would want to use the Weld option. If you are just wanting to make sure they stay in the place you want them to cut out, then use attach. Hopefully this helps.
I am new to this but isn't attach used to attach whatever you are doing to a particular place on the mat in case you want to cut it there instead of the top left corner?
So when would you want to use attached if it's going to cut out all the little extra parts then? Doesn't make sense to me that you would ever need it. But, I'm not that advanced so maybe I'm missing something?
Sometimes when you are doing a phrase or different words when you go to cut them they all move to the top left hand corner. If you want them all to stay spaced apart then you would use the attach. I add weeding boxes around my words a lot as well. That is just a box around the words to make it easier to weed everything out. When you weld something like that it becomes a solid box. You aren't left with anything in the middle. If you attach then it leaves a box around it. Hopefully that makes sense.
I created a page of labels on a sticker sheet. I want to use the write feature to write the same message on all stickers, but I cannot weld them together so they will print in the correct spots. Is this possible?
You can attach them and then they will stay in place rather than move around on you when you go to cut and write. Hopefully that helps. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
Here is my situation: I used attach and the machine cut part of the project that was not supposed, maybe I should use the weld? I put a little nurse cap attached to the edge of the little box to make a flap of the box, and in the middle of the nurse cap, there is a red cross that I want to cut the cross, not solid cross. I made the box, I attach the hat on the edge of the box, I attach the cross in the middle of the hat. What went wrong? The the bottom of the hat was cut and got separated from the box, the cross was cut perfectly the way I wanted. but the hat was not supposed to separated from the box. Should I use the weld all the 3 pieces: the box, the hat, the cross? to prevent cutting the hat from the box? The outlined of the hat does not show because I don't print to save toner. So how I can have the outline, the stripe of the hat. Should the score and drawer do that?
It is difficult to visualize what you are wanting, but it sounds like you would want to weld the pieces together. This is if we understand what you are trying to create.
The attach will connect all of the image together so that you can move it as one image. The weld will make it so that you will not have extra cut lines in the image whether it is letters or a image, it will make it one smooth cut.
Hi Heather, once you weld and then save your project unfortunately there isn't a way to undo or go back. If you attached then you can either right click or click on the Detach in the Layers panel. Hopefully this helps.
So I guess an example of why you would just use the attached is if you are using a font that didn't need to be together but you still wanted it to be one word when you moved it around on the screen rather than individually that would be the reason why I attach exists?
When I weld, some letters will fill in with full color and not sure why. I can't find any info or I'm just not tying the right wording. Any suggestions?
Hi, we have that happen as well when the letters over lap too much. Try moving them apart just slightly until you do not get the ones filled in. Hopefully that helps. www.expressionsvinyl.com
Hi.. my husband just got me a cricket maker for my birthday and we have NO idea how to use it...we are trying to make a vinyl sticker to place on wood and we don’t know how to make the letters bigger to print. We have a picture on my phone to print ( the word “laundry “) and we want it 5inches wide and 24 inches long...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Hi, once you have your word typed out you can either adjust the size in the top or on the words itself. One of the options on the top is size, adjust it to what you would like. It will automatically stay proportioned but you can click on the lock to get the exact measurements that you are looking for. Or, you can click on the word itself then the bottom right hand corner can be moved to the size you are looking for. Hopefully this helps a bit. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
If ever you want your letters touching then you would want to use the Weld option. If you are just wanting to make sure they stay in the place you want them to cut out, then use attach. Hopefully this helps.
Hi, if you are making a large wall decal and want to make sure it is secure and in one piece you would want to use the Weld feature. I use the attach feature when I have certain images I want in specific spots for layering purposes. When you attach them then they will not move to other locations on the mat. Hopefully this helps. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Love that you got to the point without a lot of extra talk! I needed a quick answer! Thanks!
Exactly, I wish more were like you.
Agreed
Yes totally
I am that same way
Thank you for having closed captions on your videos! This helps my wife who is legally deaf learn how to use Cricut Design Space.
Omg. Straight to the point. No messing around. My kinda lady! My kinda vid! Many thanks!

You are welcome, we are glad it helped.
Awesome! This video was so clear and straight to the point ( no long talking). This answered all of my questions.
I watched several videos on this topic and still did not understand the difference between weld and attach! Now I get it...thanks a million!
Thank you! None of the Cricut tutorials were helpful at all. Yours was perfect! Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome!
you are wonderful straight to the point no long drawn out confusion i appreciate your time thanks☺💛
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for the tutorial, nice and short and now I know the difference between the two.

Thank for the quick and concise answer I was looking for!!!
Just what I needed to know. Thank you for explanation
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this! I haven’t used that advanced feature to get my letters to go together. ☺️💕
We're glad it helped!
Thank you for keeping it simple!
Great video! Quick! To the point and informative! Exactly what I was looking for!
Subscribed!
that was a very good explaination
Great video. It seems weld is the better option. In what instance would I use attach rather than weld ?
Attach puts things together, weld means that the items will be cut as one.
Thank you very easy to follow!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your video ! Very helpful
Thank you so much! Can you use them together?

hi, hope you are well, great video. just a question, if you use the weld, how do you attach the Sim together for example a cake topper?
You will want the letters to be a little bit thicker so when you weld them they are closer together. You can also do an offset to put behind the letters.
I love the font you used in this example. Is that in design space? If not can you please share the name of the font and where to find it please?
The font for Simplify is Amastery. You can find it on fontbundles.net
Great video! Thank you. I have a Cricut Explore now and am trying to figure it out.

That’s this helped a lot.
Very Helpful!!! :)
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! Nice clear tutorial 😊
You're Welcome!
Thanks for the video!
I'm curious, what do you use the "attach" function for? Is there a purpose for which attach works better than weld? Thank you!
Attach is handy for making weeding boxes. Or if you want all the parts of a design to stay in a specific spot.
Thank you! That was so helpful!
We're glad to hear it helped.
Thank you, thank you 💞
You are so welcome
amazing! thank you so much
Thank you for this video!! ❤️

nice job!
I am new to this but isn't attach used to attach whatever you are doing to a particular place on the mat in case you want to cut it there instead of the top left corner?
In the prepare page you will be able to move your image to where you want it to be cut on your vinyl
Thank you. Why when you weld script letters sometimes disappear ? Currently in script and one letter out of my word just disappeared.
Some fonts do not work well with the weld option. It may have something to do with the way the font was designed.
Thank you. So what would be the point of attach if it does that?
If you have a saying and you want them to stay in alignment you would want to use the attach.
Awesome! Thank you!
which is the better when doing iron on? thanks!
It depends on what you want for your design.
So when would you want to use attached if it's going to cut out all the little extra parts then? Doesn't make sense to me that you would ever need it. But, I'm not that advanced so maybe I'm missing something?

Do you have any instructions on how to print a word just like that one, but on a clear label?
Hi Jessica, we do have a few videos on using the Print then Cut option on a Cricut. Here is the link - th-cam.com/video/LoGss2rT-jg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you!
Thanks for the video
Awesome awesome awesome! Thank you!

Are you doing this on a printable vinyl?
It is difficult to visualize what you are wanting, but it sounds like you would want to weld the pieces together. This is if we understand what you are trying to create.
So what're the advantages/disadvantages of each? Why not just have 'weld' so you don't get those cut pieces? Many Thanks.
The attach will connect all of the image together so that you can move it as one image. The weld will make it so that you will not have extra cut lines in the image whether it is letters or a image, it will make it one smooth cut.
Thank you!!!
Can you then go back, or undo either of these features after they have been done?
Hi Heather, once you weld and then save your project unfortunately there isn't a way to undo or go back. If you attached then you can either right click or click on the Detach in the Layers panel. Hopefully this helps.

The attach option makes it so that you can move the image around the page without it separating.
When I weld, some letters will fill in with full color and not sure why. I can't find any info or I'm just not tying the right wording. Any suggestions?

You are not alone!
What font was simplify?
Hi Suanne, the font for Simplify is Amastery. You can find it on fontbundles.net.
when to use attach and when to weld?
If ever you want your letters touching then you would want to use the Weld option. If you are just wanting to make sure they stay in the place you want them to cut out, then use attach. Hopefully this helps.
Why would you use one over the other?? 🙂🙂
