Omg you are a life saver. I bought my cricut about 3 months and could not get it to work for me. I had no idea what was wrong and I was very frustrated. I looked up some things and realized I had to make the image cut only but I had no idea on how to do it. I watched a bunch of videos but none helped until I got to your video and with her help I popped my cut cherry 😁😁😂😂😂. Thanks a million.
I've been debating on getting a cricut but watching this video has made me feel confident with the software so i think i am going to order one. Thank you so much!!
Thank you, Colleen, for saving my sanity! lol I've only had my Maker a couple weeks, but I've watched too many videos before I found this, & it was the ONLY one that helped me directly cut my own image! I knew there'd be a learning curve with this machine, but this was the 1st "upload this & select these things to cut" one I've found, which is all I wanted to try it out. I can completely understand how people might buy a Cricut but then leave it in the box feeling totally defeated by it, but now I don't have to be one of them. I'll definitely subscribe & check out your other videos. Thanks again!
You're so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I have lots of fun cricut projects with step by step directions on my blog if you'd like to check it out: www.lemonthistle.com/tag/cricut/
Thanks for the video! So straight forward and easy to understand. I just bought a Cricut Explore Air 2 when it was on sale from Amazon and have barely used it. I'm a software engineer so I figured it shouldn't be that hard to get into... But surprisingly was overwhelmed by videos and they didn't explain the basics of what I really wanted to do. And of course, my mind probably overcomplicated things thinking I needed Illustrator or Procreate mastered before I even touched Cricut. Your video was very clear, told me exactly what I needed to know, and has given me enough confidence to play around with the design space first. I've subscribed and I'm looking forward to watching your other videos. Thanks again!
Thanks so much! I have a few blog posts that include step by step instructions and easy project ideas, right here as well: www.lemonthistle.com/?s=cricut
I love the fact that you get down to business and keep your focus on information that applies to us learning the Cricut machine. You are very in depth. You would say something and I would think, "and what is that?" Before I can finish my thought, you are explaining it. I have had this machine for almost 3 years and have not made anything but the beginning tutorial card. Everything I attempted, either stuck to the cutting mat or it just didn't cut at all. I was already frustrated that there were no enclosed instructions and then they expected us to depend on videos to teach us how to use it. Trying to be encouraged, I found that half the videos I watched half explain the use of the machine because they are more focused on all this other rhetoric that I have no time or interest to listen to. Fortunately for me, I was listening to another video and your video just started playing afterward. I was so impressed that I subscribed! Thanks for helping me hope again that I will learn the Cricut and that it was not a waste of my money & time. Blessings
Hi Rita! The Cricut is so much fun to use once you get to know it. You may have not had the right grip mat for the materials you were using as there are 4 different kinds. I hope someone's video inspires you to keep moving forward and to give your Cricut another chance. I bet you have so many beautiful ideas and I look forwards to seeing some of your creations
This explained so MUCH. It has been a while since I have used my Cricut Explore 2, I received a Cricut Maker 3 for Christmas. I was struggling a little bit. This answered so many of my questions.
WOW … sooooo much information in just the first 10 minutes! Great! Now I need to watch it again and again so I can take some notes and make sure I got it all (and managed not to forget it), but that’s just me! Saving this video for sure. I did learn an amazing amount tho right off the bat. Thank you!
You're going to love your Cricut! There are so many things you can do with it. Alexis and I are working on our next video so if you have any requests for future videos, feel free to comment and we will add them to the list!
Thank you so much for making a clear, concise and easy to follow directional video. Your directions were wonderful and delivered at an appropriate pace. I feel much more confident I can complete my project. You rock! I'm going to watch more of your videos. Thanks!
Good topics, but I wish that I were familiar enough with these topics to keep up. I wish that I could process what you were saying in this old brain of mine! It was tough to grasp what you wanted to convey bcause of the speed. This video could be split into at least 3 videos focused on SVG, PNG and JPEG and all of their attributes. I'm still uncertain which one to use when, but I'll do some experimenting. My objective is to create designs for cards using my own lettering, my own designs, or designs and fonts that I can create from my computer or phone. I love your energy and envy your ease with all of this!
Hi Brenda! You can always hit the gear and change the speed to slow it down! If you are making your own designs- I highly encourage you to use PNG- it's all I used for a couple years before exploring SVG. JPG will always have a background and require more editing once imported. Hope that helps :)
Thanks.. I am not very computer savvy and design space is kicking my but. I have been working with resin for long time. Just started doing tumblers and got a cricut. I may have to start buying my files because I just can not get the hang of designing things. I am going to tip toe through your back log of videos. Thanks for your time you share teaching us that cant figure things our. hugs Sheryl 💙🎨💙
Glad I could help! I have step by step tutorials on my blog as well that might be easier for you to follow (depending on your learning preferences!) - www.lemonthistle.com/tag/cricut/
Great video!! I'm a newbee so his was perfect for me. Is there a video where you show how to cut the image once you saved and are ready to now cut it? I'm a visual person so seeing this steps to cut it out will really help me.
OMG - FINALLY! I got so tired of clicking forward on countless other videos before finding this. I don't really need to watch people showing me how to plug things in and an extensive overview of tools, ugh. Excellent presentation for the advanced or pro user.. very clear and if she goes too fast for you, just click back or pause. Girl, your handwriting is flawless and gorgeous - if I could write like that I wouldn't NEED a cutter, I'd just use metallic markers. Love how you showed different ways to tweak your images and the result, plus the bit on troubleshooting when it moved the layers around. Thank you.
Dude... this video was SUPER helpful. I got a Cricut Maker 3 for Xmas.. learning and loving it.. It truly is like learning a new language. lol Especially since I want to do/try/make like everything! lol Thank you!
Awesome tutorial!! I was frustrated trying to cut a digital collection and you totally saved me! Thank you! I'm just learning to print and cut digital paper collections,so this was very informative!! TFS Hugs!!!
This video enabled me to finally cut my first silhouette with my cricket maker that I just purchased. I was unsuccessful for 3 days. Thanks so much and I am now a new subbie as well!!!!!!!!!!!
@Kristy Raley Just fiddle around and check out some youtube vids. I started by cutting some simple things out of vinyl. I picked some up at Michaels and got that part down pat. Just watch videos and it'll come together :)
This is overwhelming, but I know wit will get better. I came here to figure out how to cut a two color design . I still don't know how, but your video seems great.
Hi there! First I must commend you that you are a very good teacher. You went slow enough for us newbies and we could see and hear what you were doing. How do I cut letters and outline them with the pen? I want to cut a quote out with patterned pattern, but want to have a black marker effect drawn around them?
Great information! First time I have really understood the benefits of the different file formats. I will have to watch it a few more times and make notes for reference. Would be helpful if you would slow down. Thanks!
Wonderful video. You answered so many questions. I love using my granddaughter's artwork but I was unable to get it to cut individual pieces, now I know what I did wrong when I uploaded it. Thanks, Thanks!
Thank you thank you thank you . You made my day . I was having problems working out how to get my own image and then cut you made this so easy so once again thank you
Can this be done in cricut explore 3? 😬 I sure hope so! My husband wants me to make him a shirt with their work logo, and this is the first video I found on how to do this! Thanks so much for all of your help! 🎉😊
Hi, This was very informative, but whew, I had to stop and go back because of the fast pace of the video. But, all in all it is great knowledge. Whew. Same as Stacee jones. I just bough a Cricut Explore Air 2. I will be using it to create my own drawings for pottery.
Excited to find your video! New user and this is exactly what I want to do. Bit fast for me , so I’ll be stopping and rewinding a lot. But great to have it all here. New subscriber.😊
I like your video, it was to fast to follow for me being a newbie to Cricut. I have been learning a lot on TH-cam but you went to fast for me to follow.
I LOOOOOVE YOUR VIDEO! it is what i was looking for! i'm about to purchase a cricut explore air and i feel kind a lost. i love the speed that you teach it. thank you so much! i'm a new suscriber for sure
@Colleen Pastoor Thank you for this video. I'm thinking of purchasing a Cricut Maker 3. Everything you've presented in your video is what I am wanting to do but can I do the same on fabric also??
I was wondering I just got my IPad Pro and my Apple Pencil and I’m wondering what screen or app your in when your writing with your pencil when the video is at the time 7:38? I love to draw and I’m having a hard time finding good places to do what your doing. I love my Cricut explore air 2 and use it like crazy and I’ve been wanting to learn how to do this with handwritten saying or some of my moms letters or even drawings that I’ve drawn and pictures even. So I’m very excited to watch this. I upload images that are not mine all the time. So I am familiar with the process. Thank you for your video and for the help!!! Rindy
Love this series! I’m an experienced Sil.user who just got a Cricut Maker. So happy I found you!! You answered so many questions I had. Thanks! And I subscribed!!
blewprent I would not say so. In my opinion, Cricut is more intuitive and easier to learn but more restrictive. Silhouette has a steeper learning curve but allows for more design features once you master the software.
I'm really trying to decide whether i should get circut or silhouette. I'm already an experience graphic design, but I also lowkey want to be a little lazy. i dont making my own designs in photoshop, but ive heard circut is the better way to go with you want to work with ease.
Would you believe this is WAY slower than I talk in real life!? Haha! But I totally understand. You can actually slow down the video speed in TH-cam if you like too!
This was a very nice video. I would really love to learn how to cut fabric with the Cricut Champagne Cutter and create my own applique and quilting designs.
@@ColleenPastoor Hi. Sorry about that but it is just the Circut Marker and it comes in five colors. It is the current model they are selling until they launch the Circut Joy in March 2020. In your video you did not mention which cutter you were using and I just purchased the cutter so I need to start at the beginning with the everything especially the software. Can you please tell an old lady were the best place to start to cut fabric applique and pieced shapes for blocks and where the best place is to get designs to applique? You are so bubbly. Want to share some of that?
Hi Colleen, Thank you for your video. You inspired me to get Cricut, but since I am new to all this, I wanted to ask you what kind of printer/paper would you recommend to use for projects before using Cricut? Thanks much
New subscriber! My cricut arrives by the end of the week and I was beginning to feel a little nervous about not knowing/undersganding the design space. After watching your video, I feel confident and ready to start crafting lol! Thank you, I will binge watch all your videos now! Haha! Xoxo -Sarah
Congrats on the Cricut! You're going to LOVE IT! There's so many things you can do. Let me know if you have any topic requests for our info series! We're planning out the next few :)
Thanks so much for the video. I found it really helpful. Do you have a video teaching how to download all the files to an IPad or iPhone instead of a desktop. I’m having trouble finding the correct directions for that. TIA
How do you upload with an iPad? I never get the choice of type of design to choose from the simple, complex, etc.? Can you do a video of this type but using the iPad instead of PC ? The commands are all different from iPad vs. PC
I am loving this video series and thank you ladies for doing this. One note/question about the video, please? In the video, you mention that you cannot edit the pattern fill images and I think that's not entirely correct. If you upload the pattern and choose the shape just as you did in the video, there is an edit option in the pattern menu. You can adjust the scale, vertical and horizontal placement, rotation, and also flip the patterns vertically or horizontally. You do not have the freedom as you mentioned in selecting a specific part of the pattern(as easily as you did with slice) but the patterns are editable to a degree, correct? Again, thank you for these videos and all your work to help us crafters!
I've definitely lowered the volume of music in newer videos :) Also- it might be helpful for you to tap the gear in the corner to slow the speed of the video!
Yes, you definitely need to slow down. It is supposed to be a tutorial! You are very knowledgeable and it shows; but when I am talking to a computer geek, I always ask him/her to talk "down" to me; albeit I am very good on the computer. I know it will take time to become as acquainted as you are with my Cricut Maker!
This definitely is geared towards someone who has used cricut design space before! Heyletsmakestuff.com has some great beginner tutorials ❤️ also- you can always slow videos down! Just click the gear!
Ahh that’s a lot to answer! Which specific part... this covers how to upload hand lettering to cricut. I have never made my own fabric patterns before but cutting fabric is done the same way as this video but changing the material and blade (cricut maker)
You have a lot of info. I wish you'd do videos of one technique at a time and slow down. Like just the print and cut from start to finish. Just using your own art/text like the bright ideas...but from start to finish. This video feels like "look what you COULD do if you were smart like me" lol
@@ColleenPastoor That is why I love video tutorials! It takes repeat views before the info sinks in my old brain. Thanks. I am a new subscriber and looking for to learning how to use my Cricut.
Thanks for the video. What machine would you recommend that allows people to upload Realistic Art that we painted and then make vinyl iron on for apparel or possibly prints? Thanks.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! Small note however, the background music volume could be much lower, it would help to better concentrate on what you are actually saying instead of said music ;)
Awesome! I'm wondering if you can cut a design you made from other software without using 'cricut space' (whatever you call the software you use for editing and creating designs? Can you upload a design from your phone and cut it? Thank you
Awesome video. I have a question. I am having issues copy and pasting text from word. I am finding I have to screenshot it and upload it to design space as an image and cut it that way. Can you explain how to get a plan text from an image and cut it. I keep being prompt about layers.
Thanks for your video. I have a SVG file that when I uploaded to my Cricut Design Space has 7 shapes needed to cut a paper bird on a 8x11 sheet of paper. I want to enlarge each piece but I'm afraid they won't have the same proportions to fit together as the ones in the original svg file.
I’m only 2 minutes in but you said “if you’re a hand letter-er” & the first one to really promote it I’ve seen so far so thank you !!
Thanks Julie! Do you enjoy hand lettering? If you're interested, I have a Free Quickstart Guide that you can download and practice your lettering with: www.lemonthistle.com/brush-lettering-quickstart-landing-page/

blewprent I would not say so. In my opinion, Cricut is more intuitive and easier to learn but more restrictive. Silhouette has a steeper learning curve but allows for more design features once you master the software.
@@nikkihoffman2891 Thank you!
I'm really trying to decide whether i should get circut or silhouette. I'm already an experience graphic design, but I also lowkey want to be a little lazy. i dont making my own designs in photoshop, but ive heard circut is the better way to go with you want to work with ease.
I haven't played in the silhouette software myself but know that cricut is SUPER user friendly but seems to have a few less design capabilities.
Good video. For me if you could slow down a bit it wld help. Talking a bit fast and found hard to follow.
Would you believe this is WAY slower than I talk in real life!? Haha! But I totally understand. You can actually slow down the video speed in TH-cam if you like too!
Agree, tutorials are to teach. Good info but please slow down a bit
Just watch in .5 speed
🙄
@@ColleenPastoor can you show a tutorial that explains how to slow the video down?
This was a very nice video. I would really love to learn how to cut fabric with the Cricut Champagne Cutter and create my own applique and quilting designs.
Can you send some more details?! I haven’t heard of that cutter!
Great tutorial! So easy to follow
Thanks so much! Love your videos as well :)
Thank you so much this was so helpful and easy!!!!
Glad it helped!
Hi Colleen, Thank you for your video. You inspired me to get Cricut, but since I am new to all this, I wanted to ask you what kind of printer/paper would you recommend to use for projects before using Cricut? Thanks much
Love this! Which printer do you think is good for print then cut?
Thanks for this video! It's informative and well put together :)
Great video! What app are you using on the iPad to draw and write?
TIA
I don’t yet, no! It’s all the same options just different icons- I’d tap around!!
How do you upload with an iPad? I never get the choice of type of design to choose from the simple, complex, etc.? Can you do a video of this type but using the iPad instead of PC ? The commands are all different from iPad vs. PC
They just changed it! The app has way better capabilities now 💃💃
Thanks you! I needed this video
Glad it was helpful!
I'm just seeing that now that you've pointed it out! Thank you for the tip!
I talk fast too, so fortunately/unfortunately I understood you 😂 I'm also a CSR so the background music doesnt distract me :)
Thanks for the video. Music makes it difficult to concentrate on what you’re saying..
Editing the sound is something I'm definitely working to improve!
Agree! Content is wonderful
I don’t think so she is clear in everything
OMG! Thank You... Awesome Video I watched like dozen before I found this one. Now Im sure I can do this! :)
I’m so glad you found it helpful! You can totally do it 👏🏻
Great video very helpful thank you ❤
Fab, thank you. There is so much still to learn, like how can I input a box template and get it to score?
Cricut has preloaded templates like that! Just search image :)
Excellent tutorial!
Have you completed a video on how to cut out my own drawing on a stencil? please do one. i'm stuck.
So glad to know what is possible but will need to watch 2 or 3 times because you talk so fast. Thanks for helping us all.
Glad you found it helpful! You can slow it down by tapping the gear :)
Hi, I loved everything. I would like to know how to hand letter and upload to cricut then fabric. Thanks!
I have tons of single project tutorials on my site! This one is meant to be more comprehensive :)
really helpful - thanks
😀
Thank you for the great info
I have been able to upload my on images onto design space but it’s not cutting it right
I need help
I’ll have to watch this several times before I understand it🤦🏽♀️
It sounds like you did though! Yay!
Thanks.
thank you so much ..what a blessing
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! Small note however, the background music volume could be much lower, it would help to better concentrate on what you are actually saying instead of said music ;)
👏 awesome! Thank you!!! So excited! I’m fluent with Corel so I think I can do this 😊
Yes! I used to use Corel but switched when I learned Lightroom ;) Game changer for photos!
Colleen Pastoor I love lightroom too for photos. I’m familiar with Corel for vector lines, so I like to use that:) Happy creating!
Colleen Pastoor and thank you for commenting! Great video ❤️
I’ve always done it as an image to get the spacing I like!
Try grouping them before resizing!
