I have been there, Pitch Lake is near Point Fortin, all the way west. It is an amazing experience. But be careful, people have gotten stuck in quicksand, although it depends where you are. Wear shoes that can get tar on them, because I wore my favorite shoes and they got stained. Bring sunscreen and an umbrella, the sun gets really hot.

I did the same thing in Costa Rica it was a natural spring and there was actual sulfur at the bottom and you could spread natural volcanic mud on you and wash off in the spring it was warm don’t climb on the rocks though .. -
