I use canni no wipe top coat for powders and pigments it’s a bit thicker .. and it lasts well .. and works well and it’s super cheap £3.99 to £4.50 but u can get desks for like £12 for 4 bottles mixed with colours on eBay

You have to use a water based top coat. Maniology sells one for about $4 little ondine is another option but it's about $11. You can get both on Amazon.

River's World 123 oceansofbeauty.com has a line that allows you to use powder and pigments with regular nail polish.
Are you talking gel nails or gel nail polish ..huge difference she's using gel polish.. cured in led light.. make sure your mom knows the difference too.. gel nails are usually extensions or a hard substance added to top of naill .. gel polish, used here, is a polish that last allot longer than regular but you must soak off using acetone or file away.. but there are videos showing up as suggested to watch using regular polish why we use gel polish..it's got a tacky layer after curing that powders stick to so easy if done right after curing I'd only let n my child use LED as I do.. no harmful UV rays it's just tiny light bulbs like most bulbs are switching to anyway. Natasha Lee has a video up.. search powders with regular polish to see how ...one says water based top coat or clear elders glue..looked like the gel glue to me.. hope it helps as the other non gel polishes for this all cost over $10
