Putin wanted a shock and awe quick end to the military side of the campaign. He sent in his best troops to take high profile command and control points as well as shit down media and government. At the Same Time he flooded the Ukrainian country side with reservists hoping that would be enough to pacify the population long enough for him to put a puppet government in place. It seems his first line troops failed cut off the government and media leading to the reservists being slaughtered by the Ukrainian population who had no intention of just looking the other way.

No, the terminator is a tank-support armoured vehicle. It doesn't really have an equivilant in the west as our tanks are more powerful and don't need support. The Bradley is the equivalent of the BMP. The equivalent of the Abrams/Leopard 2 would be a T-90 and a BMPT.

However in NATO military structures we don't have Tank support vehicles as a category, our vehicles are helped by our better IFV's or by infantry, theres by the BMPT or infantry. But the BMP cannot support infantry. And given our steamrolls of places like Iraq I'd say our style is better.

Yes. Provide they're not in a heavy urban area. which these tanks are specifically designed for. And Javelin anti-tank missiles don't do too well in areas like that. Maybe set to direct fire mode which the Javelin missile launcher is able to do and you don't mind causing large amounts of collateral damage. But considering what the Russian ground forces had been doing lately I suppose it doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things.😅😥

Because despite its shorter profile equipping any sort of Ataka pod would make it's profile very visible. Because it has a historically unreliable electro-mechanical gun solution. Because it wasn't designed for ground support it doesn't have the optics for providing accurate fire and also no night ops (although Soviet gunners would use it very capablely in a ground support role but still a system designed from scratch up will be far better). All in all yes it's a very capable system but it definitely can't compare to a modern system designed from the ground up for urban armoured infantry support. It's a very good SPAAG though. NATO had to change their frontal aviation doctrine when Shilka hit the scene.
Shilka has very thin armor and cannot stand even heavy machine gun shots. Besides, in urban terrain shilka's cannons will be vulnerable to collision with walls and debris

No, the terminator is a tank-support armoured vehicle. It doesn't really have an equivilant in the west as our tanks are more powerful and don't need support.
The Bradley is the equivalent of the BMP. The equivalent of the Abrams/Leopard 2 would be a T-90 and a BMPT.

The Bradley IFV is far more capable than the Soviet BMP and can support tanks.
However in NATO military structures we don't have Tank support vehicles as a category, our vehicles are helped by our better IFV's or by infantry, theres by the BMPT or infantry. But the BMP cannot support infantry.
And given our steamrolls of places like Iraq I'd say our style is better.

Yes. Provide they're not in a heavy urban area. which these tanks are specifically designed for. And Javelin anti-tank missiles don't do too well in areas like that.
Maybe set to direct fire mode which the Javelin missile launcher is able to do and you don't mind causing large amounts of collateral damage.

@@memberberries9813 We already do, but rather expensive to do so. Javelin anti-tank homing missile kills anything it slams down on. You don't even need to linger in the same position after you fire it. Unfortunately, Ukraine doesn't have enough of them.

I don't understand why they didn't just make the 'Shilka' remote control, much better weapon system and fear factor when fighting infantry.
Because it's based off a lighter, armoured 575 chassis, with less internal space and less capacity to carry armour. Because despite its shorter profile equipping any sort of Ataka pod would make it's profile very visible. Because it has a historically unreliable electro-mechanical gun solution. Because it wasn't designed for ground support it doesn't have the optics for providing accurate fire and also no night ops (although Soviet gunners would use it very capablely in a ground support role but still a system designed from scratch up will be far better).
All in all yes it's a very capable system but it definitely can't compare to a modern system designed from the ground up for urban armoured infantry support. It's a very good SPAAG though. NATO had to change their frontal aviation doctrine when Shilka hit the scene.
