One of my favorite percussion pieces. I played this in college . . .what a joy! I have a feeling this recording is EXACTLY what Takemitsu wanted his piece to sound like. Absolutely brilliant.
And 1981 was one of my most dearly loved care-free childhood years in my life ....and the fact that this so soul-soothing musical work was created right then in 1981 fills me with such warm-hearted feelings!
Probably up there very near the top of being my favorite composition ever. The rhythm, tasty-fluid-delicious harmonies and evocative figures that are in a constant flux... This is as close as one can get to translating the substance of water into music.
