Basically he caused a butterfly effect by getting traded to the Angels and getting traded from the Rangers to Atlanta causing the Angels to get a compensation pick which turned into Mike Trout, and Tyler Skaggs and giving the Rangers pieces that help them make the World Series in 10 and 11 and even today with Jonah Heim
One of my favorite players of all time weirdly enough. I was always enamored with his batting stance and just big he looked. He was also a big piece for the Yankees to win in ‘09. .292/.383/.565, .948 OPS including a healthy 178H, 39 HR and 122 RBIs. Also my first baseball jersey is a signed ‘09 Texeira.
Nice video! I think a similar one about Zach Grenkie’s career would be interesting! His dominance in Kansas City and trade to the Brewers that set the mid-10s Royals on a World Series trajectory. Plus his stints in LA and Arizona. He’s definitely impacted the last decade.
We had a friend who played high school baseball with teixeira.this is the story he likes to tell about teixeria. teixeria really wanted to end the end so he could go home and have fun time with his girlfriend. So tex next at bat hit a giant home run to end the game.
Can you do a video on Erik Bedard.? Just his first trade from the Orioles to the Mariners has a lot to explore and then he was traded again to Boston in a 3 way trade
I love how as well when Tex was on the Angels in the post season and they got knocked out by the Red Sox, the man who started the video with Boras going at the Phillies for the bonus JD Drew was on that Red Sox team. Not a huge story line, just gave me a chuckle. Love the stuff man :)
a butterfly affect video idea that also involves Mark Teixeira and Mike Trout. If Paul Konerko signs with the Angels in the 2005-2006 offseason the Angels don’t trade for Teixeira (does he still end up with the Yankees?) and may or may not draft Trout. Then perhaps Kendry Morales doesn’t get hurt after hitting a walk off grand slam and Mark Trumbo and CJ Cron perhaps end up drafted by other teams.
i think it was like 2005 and he was like tearing shit up and that was the first year i actually started to follow baseball i was 10 and me and my dad r mets fans but i specifically remember watching teixeira hit like 3 home runs in one game and i was like in awe i asked my dad "has anyone ever done that before" and he laughed and was like yea theres been people to hit 4 in one game and i couldn't fathom that lol
That mention of Pujols is interesting as it probably means he signs with the Marlins, becomes part of that massive midseason trade to the Blue Jays, and ends up being a journeyman before his return to the Cardinals.
I feel like Kenny lofton needs more attention. Especially his late career journeyman period. Immaculate grid legend. In fact, that might be a good series idea "immaculate grid legends"- focusing on all those guys that seemingly played with every random team.
I'm still disappointed he never played for the Orioles. Not that I can blame him. Scot Boras really was a cancer to sports. I know it's his job to get as much as possible for his guy, but he tends to leave destruction in his wake.
Man, the Braves got fleeced in that trade. I remember wondering why we gave up the farm for basically a 1 year rental. Cheers to good decisions Braves front office. Thank god we have Anthopolous now.
shit man i hope texas can take the w.s this year man i really do seeing them get there at the end f the video reminded me of their back to back appearances highlighted by the cardinals david freeze killing them
Another way he changed baseball: he was the out-of-their-league free agent the nascent Nationals were after when Scott Boras gave Mark Lerner the advice which would set in motion the path which would put them in the position to draft Stephen Strasburg, Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon.
I feel like there’s a multiverse where the angels do resign K-Rod and Texeira and win a World Series or 2. But There’s no Mike Trout or Ohtani in Anaheim 😮
The Rangers/Teixeira trade also eliminated a lot of future deadline blockbusters because of how lopsided it was. Veterans like Teixeira used to go for a king's ransom, but now their values are much more tempered.
The 2009 Yankees infield hands down where the best defensive team in the 21st century Edit: also, for Butterfly effect videos, how about how Jose Consaco wrote a book that led to the mass PED suspensions and blacklisting of many of the steroid era greats?
@@djquinn11 tell it to his 5 gold gloves, 14 all star appearances, 5 WS rings and a WS mvp. Don’t just reshovel other peoples awful arguments because you look at states created during his twilight years of his career

@@djquinn11 90s and early 2000 Jeter was phenominal, had some of the most iconic plays. I think Alex Rodriguez did kinda effect his defense when he did come over, so I think he just won his gold gloves on the wrong years, because old ass dj was nowhere near as good as rookie dj
@@Cheesefist The 09 Yankees definitely had the best offensive In field of all time . But only cano and tex were elite defensively at 2nd and 1st base. AROD was great with the glove at 3rd base but not as great as he was at SS
Tex only played in about 80 minor league games before he was ready to dominate with the big boys. If he would’ve played his whole career in Texas, he would probably be in the HOF right now.
Where is the butterfly effect video for Adam Rosales? If he had been traded to the A's, the A's couldn't have placed him on waivers for the Rangers to pick up, and then the Rangers couldn't have placed him on waivers for the A's to claim him, and the A's wouldnt have been able to waive him again allowing the Rangers to claim him again.
Must’ve been a weird feeling for Tex in the last few years of his career seeing the kid his former team drafted because of him turn into an all time great.
To say Skaggs wasn’t “given” the chance is short sided, that implies someone or something kept him from it. That someone is himself, and poor decision making. It’s tragic for sure, especially for the family but in the end he made the choice himself. No one forced him to do it. So it’s not that he wasn’t given the chance, it’s more so he didn’t give himself the chance.
Haven’t watched the video yet but so happy to see a Mark Teixeira video! Dude was a BEAST offensively and defensively
couldn’t be happier
He was so overrated, this coming from a Yankees fan

When he wasn't injured. Not a great NYY. A good one, but not great.

Mount Saint Joe Go Geals!!!
Definitely a prime candidate for the Hall of Very Good. 50 WAR at first/DH is impressive.
poster child for the Hall of Very Good haha
Too bad he royally sucked after 2009, he was a close 2nd to Pujols for best first baseman for a good 5-6 years.
Another Masterpiece of a video!
Thank you! The trade that people in arlington (and probably atlanta) will never forget, but many other baseball fans do
I knew Teixeira had an interesting trade history, but never realized its extent. Great video!
Thank you for doing this video this is my favorite player of all times ❤

Glad to see Butterfly Effect return
Sad to see Tex leave Tex but he gave us solid teams in return.
My first superhero
Love you Tex!
Glad we had him in 09 when we won the world series
Loved Teixeira was sad the Braves traded him he was a beast
I always ended up at NYY vs TEX games. 2 of my games attended in 2 years had Tex HRs. Told my uncle that the Yankees could use him
I've missed these videos
I loved watching him in Atlanta
Being a Rangers fan still today, this was interesting to see. Thanks for sharing this
Please cover the Tx/NY A-Rod for Alfonso Soriano, the only consistent 30/30 and 40/40 2B/SS.
I was playing psp mlb bigs where the players r big as hell but didnt expect mark to be actually hella big irl xD
I was devastated when he signed with NYY

How about a video like this but the Griffey to Cincy trade that lead to the 01 mariners?
mark teixeira looks like he’d have bullied me in high school
Lmao nah he was a good dude and teammate
Same.
Good job.
If I had a nickel for every time Sportstorm said "Although..."
5:19 scheduled Chipper Jones homer against the Mets
8:00 lolz remember the days when the teams with the best record’s actually won chanpionships? JK it still happens…
Teixeira was my favorite Rangers player growing up.
It still hurts seeing that Jared Mitchell pick ahead of Trout. 😢
Safe to say Trout got the last laugh though.
You forgot about the part where he said he was going to sign with the Orioles and signed with the Spankees.
Do World Series Champions: Texas Rangers 2023, as 3rd appears was INDEED the charm, with the manager who had once beaten the team he is with now.
Lol booing JD Drew at The Vet is a core memory growing up. Didn't stop til the day he retired too.
It’s nice that this doesn’t hurt anymore. Rangers finally did it!

Texeira is was born to play in texas.

put video on 1.25/1.5x speed
Should have gone to Boston
So he still helped Texas win the world series

Of course Dotel is directly involved in the Teixeira trade tree
Should have still been on the HOF ballot. One of the reasons why the MLB HOF is stupid with their voting
Rise and fall of Clint Frazier or Miguel Andujar
Can we figure out how Eovaldi,Chapman, Montgomery, and Heaney all wound up in Texas winning the World Series? .... Oh wait I know why! Cashman
Teixeira was a 3B, he wouldnt conflict with Ryan Howard
JD Drew, there's a player I've not thought about in years. Talk about wasted potential...
I have zero recollection of Pedro Martinez in a Phillie uniform 😅
Tex and Rolen woulda been the best corners in baseball

Cardinals getting rid of every good player since 2018ish which is possibly leading the Rangers to a World Series victory.

I'm a simple man, I see Mark Teixeira and I click
Texas Rangers World Series champs baby!!!!

As a Rangers fan we been knew how important he was
