- The new Daiwa Certate SW looks like its to be the Catalina replacement, this reel feel silky smooth and hits a good price point for a Japanese made reel. Comes in sizes 8000,10000,14000 these three sizes all the same body with different spools the 18000 is a stand alone size and the biggest in the range. i think this reel feels amazing, Shimano are ahead of the game with the 8000 Stella being a standalone reel of its size and no longer the same size body / rotor as the 10,14000 sizes. i believe Daiwa may do the same next release

If i can’t take it apart i won’t buy it, good reel but with magseal,bad spool lip design , locomotive osc. Still good reel
Why do you reccomend not running PE8 on the 14k?

It sucks they got rid of the old 4000 size catalina.... no replacement in sight. Now you either have to go an lt5000/bj4000 or these monsters..... its disappointing.
Where can i get a 14000 spare spool?

Just bought one, 8k heavier than a 500h Catalina. Can't get a 3500 size Certate SW either. Got all weird specs and compact sizes and stupid stuff in the LT range. Can I just get a Certate LT 3000 or 3500 D-XH- ARK? No you can't. And you are forced into compact reels which screws rod balance.
