Love my all rounder, such a great fermenter. Right now I needed some extra fermenting capacity so I even have a brew fermenting in my old 5.5 gallon anvil kettle with their ferment in a kettle kit setup on it.
Awesome you should mention that as I was wondering if anyone does that... I was going to order one of their kits just to do a video on it and test it out as I have a 10 gallon Anvil kettle that would work well plus I figured if I added a heating pad, I could do sours this way too.
I just bought the Fermzilla conical fermenter but not used it yet as still gathering all the information I can about it. A lot of very good information on You Tube. ALL ROUNDER
Nice! Did you get the new version? Not sure if it is available everywhere, especially the U.S. but both versions are very nice. I keep getting the itchy trigger finger for one but never pull the trigger. The key is that you could do some yeast washing easily but must be aware to always purge the bottom part if you go to reconnect it to avoid adding O2 back into the fermenter. Plus the fermenter is a bit large and I won't personally have space for something like that until my house is finished in a few months. Please let me know how you first fermentation goes? Pros and Cons! I will most likely eventually get one and do a few videos on it. Thank you.
I procrastinated for a bit but hands down it is one of the most versatile and cost effective fermenters out there. (There are SS fermenters that might be even more versatile with pressure and a spigot but those are very expensive.)
I did the same, bought a second All Rounder. I like how compact it is and real easy to handle once I bought the straps. I have a Tilt with a dead battery and really could use the wrench.
I really like how you included key words...very creative. Shockingly I've never had a battery die yet ...going on many years with one but the key is to leave them in an upright position when not in use. The wrench is cheap. Thanks again.
I have 5 but I am a bit OCD and when I do another batch and one isn't available it, kills me as I am so dependent on them now days at taking the guess work out of when my fermentation is 100%.
Recently got an All Rounder with spunding valve, and, wow, pressure fermentation has been an eye-opener for me. Really excited about brewing lagers at room temp :)
Watch the pressure and test the spunding valve as one of mine was off by 2.5 psi but I only recently discovered this issue. I'm also thinking if you let the pressure ramp up too high it could slow or stop fermentation as I had an issue with that recently also and will have to conduct some tests to see if this is true or if it was just the yeast giving up early.
@@BitterRealityBrewing It did not occur to me that my number might be off. Thanks for the heads up. I am planning to hold pressure at around 15 psi, so hopefully any inaccuracy from my spunding valve won't make too much of a difference. Really enjoy your channel and thanks for sharing many valuable insights :)
As you have a all rounder you already see why I think it is such a great value. As for the tilt wrench it is one of those tools you may never need but when you do, it is nice to have.
Great video. My All Rounder is getting close to its pressure test date. Keg land does provide instructions and parts list to do at home though which is nice. I have not tried using my Tilt in it though since I typically use it for pressure fermentation
I wonder if the pressure test date" is just a CYA type time and date stamp for them to cover themselves which I understand as nothing lasts forever. I'd think just replacing the rubber seal would be one of the only wearing parts minus the plastic caps which the threads couldn't get worn out a bit over time.
A while back I sold one of my fastferment conical with a brew jacket and picked up two AllRounders and still had spare change. Like you one is decked out with the chiller. Over my 40 years of brewing I have had many fermenters and have to say these are my favorites. After first setup you should check for leaks. One of mine had a leak at the lid o-ring. Had to remove some casting flash and all is fine now. Wish the thermal well was a bit larger because the large inkbird probe is hard to insert. Was thinking of getting the jacket but good thing I watched this - it has no bottom!
Yeah I have two spare Inkbirds and one has the larger probe which I was concerned about but haven't had a chance to try it as I think it is in storage (working to get a new house built). As for the bottom or lack of bottom I would agree that is a bit of a downer and it does have a draw string to tighten it up but I'm concerned it won't close completely so I would have to ensure I have something under it to help trap the cooling or heat.
I still using the flat bottom one and I just bought a second one as well. I know that I'm supposed to but I do pressure fermentation "12psi" on both of them and it is just fine up to now and tested with water only with 30psi for 30 mins and it held, just the flat bottom is not so flat anymore hahahah. I don't get the all rounder because it can not fit on my small fridge 😬 Kegland should think about one without that support it will be great! 👌
Thank you for this info as I was pretty sure the flat bottom could hold a fair amount of pressure but also knew if you applied too much the bottom might not be as flat anymore. Thanks for the info!
Nice review of the All Rounder system. With all of the added features available it seems very flexible and not a one-trick pony. I gave up trying to get my cap off. I must have tried almost every non damaging method to get that stubborn thing off. I didn't even know they had a Tilt wrench.
Congrats on winning the Tilt Wrench!!! If you could go to my "About" page and send me your shipping address I'll get it shipped out to you! - commentpicker.com/youtube.php?id=ycp_6180a8134fd7b848
I have loved my all rounder! I have done the thermowell, stainless steel posts and straps - also bought a few strap wrenches! This has totally made my process so much better and allowed me to do oxygen free transfers and use less CO2 since I'm purging my kegs during fermentation
I never even knew that a Tilt wrench existed. I have not had to change out my battery, but have looked at how tight the seal seems to be on it and would love to have one when I do need to. All rounder looks pretty cool and fairly inexpensive.
The Tilt wrenches is one of those tools you might almost never use but when you need it, it is awesome and avoids the large pliers with some cloth to keep from damaging the tilt. All rounder in my eyes is the best value in fermenters at this time minus the lack of a spigot of course which is good and bad. (Good, no change of leak)
The All Rounder is a great bang for the buck but the Tilt Wrench is one of those tools that you will almost never need but when you do, it is the right tool for the job.
Thank you and you are actually getting to see why I like it so much. As for the Tilt, I swear by them as you probably know but if you do a pressure fermentation it can be really frustrating as the readings will be off based on how much pressure and the eventual carbonation.
Thank you and thank you for the kind words as I wish I was a professional cinematographer but I'm just a home brewer like all of us learning as I go and sharing what I find. I am a bit OCD with things I enjoy and I am extremely passionate about homebrewing.
Thanks for another top video. I'm really sold on these fermzillas now. Really want to try making a pseudo lager without the need for too much temperature control. I think I will go for an All Rounder to begin with, but probably end up also getting a conical fermenter as well as I would want to do the dry hopping and yeast harvesting. Cheers!
What is funny is I already did this video before I did "the perfect fermenter" video as this video inspired me to do the other one. Figured these are great for newer brewers or people looking to expand their brewing to give them tons of info so they can make a more informed choice.
I love my All Rounder - mainly for closed loop transfers to a keg (using a gas to gas line and a beer to beer line). However, the thermowell Doutight thread is too short to connect securely to the nut and it can drop into your brew. Plus, the stainless caps can damage the lid if connected too tightly and I highly recommend using a red plastic cap for gas and get a yellow one for the beer connection. It’s way to easy to connect the spunding valve to the wrong cap and have have beer gushing out. Lastly, I put all the plastic components in the dishwasher after every brew and replace the dip tube after every 2 in order to avoid infections.
Seems everyone is in agreement with the metal ones possibly damaging the threads so I may have to just order new plastic ones, once in a blue moon as I am slowly damaging the tops of mine where I use to tighten them.
As far as bubblers aka fermentation air locks, try and find glass. it's easier to clean, looks great and just don't drop it lol. I bought two from Ukraine about a month ago. From Ukraine to Maine it took three weeks. Beautiful hand blown glass.
I was going to get two all rounder setups for primary and secondary but after a lot of thought I plan to start out with the canonical Fermzilla and then add on an all rounder to be used for secondary. I cannot wait to dive into this hobby just a bit longer before I purchase the Anvil Foundry 10.5 and the Fermzilla Canonical to get started :) I have never used one of those tilt devices but would love to try one out at some point, if I find they are worth it I will buy one :) Now I just need to find other brewers in the area to let me try one hahaha
Love the idea of borrowing one to try it out first. If you start kegging, consider that for a secondary as it is really probably the best for a secondary when needed. As for the tilt I will say the first one ever got many years back gave me a temp reading of 5000 F in water that was 68 F!!! I reached out to tilt and they sent me a replacement plus the tilt wrench. Since then I would say almost all of my newer tilts have been dead on with gravity readings and temps rarely needing any calibrations.
@@codebowl Keep an eye out during the holidays for deals or people selling stuff they aren't using on places like Craig's list as that is where I got a lot of my best deals over the years.
Great review, was looking at getting the All Rounder because I could stuff it in my fridge. I can't do that easily with my stainless conicals. Oh, whilst you're on the cheap glycol system, I did the modified window rattler aircon job. Cost about $100 AUD for the lot, old aircon, Esky, inkbird thermo, and some Kegland glycol. Been using it on my flooded font too. Great home project.
Great review on the all rounder! Still trying to decide if this will be my next fermenter or a SS that will pressure ferment. Never taken a tilt apart yet.
The fermenter of choice is all about what fits your setup best, plus SS is crazy easy to clean. I've taken two apart so far, one to fix a O-ring and one because I thought I had a battery problem. It is one of those strange tools you will almost never need but if you do, you are very happy you have it.
@@BitterRealityBrewing I use a cover from my FastFerment Conical and it is a little oversized so I added some of that foil insulated cardboard like stuff. The twisted chiller works very well. I used an OtterBox heavily insulated cooler with ice jugs and it worked well but I still hate changing ice even if it's every several days. I see that Australian supplier is coming out with a lower cost glycol chiller. Keeping my eyes open for this one.
Another good video! I’m looking for another fermenter and this All Rounder is on my list. Also, didn’t realize a Tilt might have issues with pressurized fermentation but that makes sense. Good info!
Makes sense in regards to the Tilt having issues with pressure and carbonation but sadly I didn't think about it until it actually happened to me and then I was like dugh! I just like the All rounder as a great solutions for most of us who are kegging.
LOL, in my new brew space I recently replaced my green screen with a much better one that does wiggle or get wrinkles. I don't use a green screen in my new brew space as much, but I do enjoy the option.
I've seen a lot of review videos on the All-rounder, and it seems like a great system. Being clear and pressure capable is cool. I think it would be interesting to do a side by side comparison of a pressure fermentation vs non-pressure just to watch the difference in activity. My Tilt battery will need changed soon. The wrench looks like a product I'll end up with anyway
I did do a "kind of" side-by-side comparison with the All Rounder vs the Anvil SS Crucible Conical. The All rounder was 2 F warmer sitting side by side as the SS seemed to allow better cooling from the A/C as both were sitting on the floor in my studio area. The Conical at 2F and no pressure took almost a full week to finish fermenting and actually fermented slightly drier with a lower FG. It was when I did the "lift" test with the Anvil foundries.
Good Point. I am replacing existing gear as I didn't mention in this video but have in a few others that I am migrating away from glass and any fermenter with a small opening. Basically, the large opening and not being made of glass are the biggest reasons for owning All Rounders but of course, the pressure fermentation and pressure transfers are major bonus features.
I almost got an All Rounder but settled on a stainless steel bucket fermenter instead. It was a hard decision but I’m sure I would have been happy with either one. 🍻
They are both awesome as the SS bucket is easy to clean and has a spigot while the all rounder is inexpensive (relatively speaking) and is great for pressure aka precarbonating your fermentations.
Sadly I think I am addicted to how convenient they are at giving me instant readings when walking by my fermentor box with all my fermenters chugging away.
I was referencing the common use of setting up a container (cooler, fridge with holes, or like) with ice water and a pump. I will be doing some testing in the future with a DIY chillers with and without glycol but haven't had the time as of lately.
Thank you and Lucky man as they keep going in and out of stock almost daily it seems. I had email notices turned on for Morebeer but as soon as I'd add to cart it would give me an error saying they couldn't fill my order. I simply got lucky and did my daily check of inventory on their site and scored me 2nd one.
Hi Mike. Doing my first brew with a Tilt and have the data linked to google sheets. Interesting to watch the SG over time, especially the SG trend line as it tends to fluctuate quite a bit and hard to trust a single data point. The Tilt wrench looks handy, had no idea they were difficult to open for a battery change. As far as the All Rounder, I use a big mouth with a thermo-well now in a small dorm type frig and have been holding back on getting the All Rounder because it will not fit in my frig. I'd be interested to see a picture and list of components that you use to control the fermentation temperature as you mentioned ice packs and a controller. Are you using a pump to circulate the cold water through the immersion chiller? Thanks for posting great reviews.
The tilts are pretty accurate but they do bounce up and down a bit during fermentation plus if your fermentation goes a bit nuts, there can be a large amount of trub left on top of the tilt which can mess up the readings. An overtime is the best way to look at it and I only usually check my fermentation once a day with the exception of the first 48 hours as I like to see things kick off sooner than later. As for my cooling setup at the moment I just have a very large fementation chamber that I built a while ago and I think it has made a couple showings in a at least a video or two but it is 42" W x 42" L x 37" H and the inside is 40"x40"x35" as it is insulated with 2" of insulating foam boarding throughout with the interlocking doors on top to make a good seal. And of course a dorm fridge shoved inside to the back left of it reducing the overall floor space a little. It works amazingly well for Ales but anything below 58 F and the dorm fridge starts to overheat. So I will be looking (very soon) to running some poor man cooling setup by using a cooler (I may try a Styrofoam one first to keep my costs down for the test) to see how low and how consistent I can keep the temps with an inkbird, the coil, and some ice water. My biggest concern is how long I can run it efficiently without having to swap out the ice packs as that could be a good or bad thing versus running a glycol system through an actual chiller or a fridge/freezer setup.
I would expect the same great quality but for me that is a lot of beer and at 60L of available space the weight when full could be a major concern. 8.3 lbs per gallon meaning you might want to leave the fermenter in place and bring everything to it. 5 gal = 42.7 lbs (heavy for me), 10 gal = 85.4 lbs and so on. I will say the 60L is a great value as the all rounder had the largest price spike from what I've seen in comparison to all the others. Even the conical didn't go up compared to the increase on the All Rounder. Sadly everything seems to be a bit more expensive lately and I doubt most things will ever go back down to the old pricing. I've been doing a lot of split batches lately which allows me to do 6 gallons and produce 2 - 3 gallon batches with variations. If I were doing 10 gallon batches I'd cut them into 2 - 5 gallons and at minimum pitch 2 different yeasts.
😂😀😂😀Not sure if you are joking but if you are...tilt your head and it will be all good. If not get some straps or (sadly use painters tape to keep it level).
Thank you and thanks for the support! - I haven't used the SS caps yet but bought them as I started to strip out my red plastic ones on my first all rounder as that is where my first leak was so I am probably over tightening them now to avoid a C02 leak.
@@BitterRealityBrewing plastic on plastic seals better than metal on metal or metal on plastic but plastic is easier to break. I think the steel caps are too stiff when putting on the disconnects. Takes a lot of force.
I honestly get it as nothing lasts forever and they want to CYA just in case. Here is some info - www.kegland.com.au/media/pdf/FermZilla%20Hydro%20Test%20Instruction%20Manual.pdf Basically they just want to protect you and themselves by being safe.
Thank you and yes as long as you aren't doing the fermentation under pressure otherwise it will be off a bit based on the pressure and the carbonation.
😂I can relate as I use it as a regular fermenter most of the time and occasionally for pressure fermenting. I use to bottle but it got old and now that I keg, I still bottle but only a handful per keg to share out to locals.
Sadly I only own one SS fermenter and it doesn't fit in my fermentation chamber or allow for pressure fermentation. As for the image behind me, it is just for the theme.

@@BitterRealityBrewing I won't be getting into kegging for probably 6 months to a year from now but plan to do primary/secondary from the start.
I think I understand but to confirm a Rattler Aircon, is that a window airconditioner?
@@BitterRealityBrewing yeah, the old box style that is typically mounted in a window.
@@adambarbary6956 OK, just making sure what I was picturing was correct.
All Rounder... Great video, as always! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the kind words and the support.
That drunk brickwall background is definitely my thing :D
You never answered why you bought a second one from a workflow perspective. Are you replacing existing gear? Using it as Brite ?
@@BitterRealityBrewing so same reason I have a man all rounder and a flat bottom. I’m looking into adding a bucket blaster. Then I’m in heaven lol
All rounder. Thanks again for the video
Thank you and thanks for the support!
All rounder tilt. I brake away from glass within my second brew day. Didn’t like how slippery glass can be.
Not to mention heavy and hard to clean. I have been really lucky so far but I have almost dropped full glass carboys a few times over the years.
My Tilt works great. Definitely recommend
Sadly I think I am addicted to how convenient they are at giving me instant readings when walking by my fermentor box with all my fermenters chugging away.
Do you have more information on what you called the "poor man's glycol chiller"?
I was referencing the common use of setting up a container (cooler, fridge with holes, or like) with ice water and a pump. I will be doing some testing in the future with a DIY chillers with and without glycol but haven't had the time as of lately.
All Rounder a great video. Just ordered my Fermzilla, due later this week :-)
My biggest concern is how long I can run it efficiently without having to swap out the ice packs as that could be a good or bad thing versus running a glycol system through an actual chiller or a fridge/freezer setup.
all rounder : what is your opinion on the 60L fermzilla?
@@BitterRealityBrewing ty for the extensive reply!

I have a tilted all rounder...any suggestions to eliminate the tilt?
😂😀😂😀Not sure if you are joking but if you are...tilt your head and it will be all good. If not get some straps or (sadly use painters tape to keep it level).
I personally find the red plastic carbonation caps much easier and better to use than the stainless ones!
All Rounder
Tilt
Thank you and thanks for the support! - I haven't used the SS caps yet but bought them as I started to strip out my red plastic ones on my first all rounder as that is where my first leak was so I am probably over tightening them now to avoid a C02 leak.
@@BitterRealityBrewing plastic on plastic seals better than metal on metal or metal on plastic but plastic is easier to break. I think the steel caps are too stiff when putting on the disconnects. Takes a lot of force.
@@MrTimoBear That makes perfect sense but I'll have to at least test out the metal ones as I haven't used them yet.
Any thoughts on the requirement for the all rounder to be hydrotested every 2 years (or whatever it is), if you pressurize it?
I honestly get it as nothing lasts forever and they want to CYA just in case. Here is some info - www.kegland.com.au/media/pdf/FermZilla%20Hydro%20Test%20Instruction%20Manual.pdf
Basically they just want to protect you and themselves by being safe.
I would like to upgrade to a all-rounder
Thank you and thanks for the support!
Love my Tilt!
I can't seem to live without mine.
Does the all rounder work with a tilt?
Thank you and yes as long as you aren't doing the fermentation under pressure otherwise it will be off a bit based on the pressure and the carbonation.
Great video.
Thank you for the kind words.
ALL ROUNDER. I love mine!
They are my personal favorite fermenter, and for the price nothing comes close. SS of course is really nice but considerably more money.
I didn't even know there was a Tilt wrench.
I was shocked many years ago when I discovered it but it makes it a million times easy to open a tilt vs using cloth and large pliers.
These things kicks ass….end of subject

Too complex for me...too much additional kit needed too...don't have CO2
😂I can relate as I use it as a regular fermenter most of the time and occasionally for pressure fermenting. I use to bottle but it got old and now that I keg, I still bottle but only a handful per keg to share out to locals.

WHY DO YOU SPEND MONEY ON THE PLASTIC FERMZILLA WHEN YOU HAVE ALL THE FANCY STAINLESS FERMENTERS??
Sadly I only own one SS fermenter and it doesn't fit in my fermentation chamber or allow for pressure fermentation. As for the image behind me, it is just for the theme.
