I have a 2017 and I don't have any rust either. I did mod my front forks myself and it improved it a bunch under hard braking and it still is fine on the West Virginia roads. Tuning it is a bit more involved and I haven't done that yet, but plan to. Twisting the throttle will affect the fuel mileage in a hurry. I've gotten mid 60's by riding it like a Honda scooter and low 40's by riding like a hooligan. It also helps to get it into 6th gear instead of riding in 3rd and 4th like you do.
Yeah I rip the heck out of the throttle on this bike. With the big bikes I usually ride in the high gear around town but this MT-07 I love to rev the heck out of it, torquey fun little bike. I'm sure I could get much better mpg if I rode it around in 6th gear and baby the throttle but what fun is that? That is why I got bored with the liter bikes, riding a fast bike slow is boring. Riding a slower bike fast is so much more fun around town.

Honestly the MT07 is the perfect street bike imo. It's been the King of the middleweight category for the longest time and it doesn't look to change. Fairly certain that those who complain about the MT07 have never swung a leg over one and rode it. Yes the suspension is soft, but for a street bike it should be soft. As most city streets stateside are ABSOLUTELY 💩. Potholes, cracks, bumps, tyre snakes and uneven patches from bad road work. So you want a suspension to absorb that horrible road condition and not transfer it into you killing you back.
Cyclecruza just got some acf50 for my blue 2022 mto7 awesome bike got my helite airbag vest aswell as I’m a new rider but feel safe on this machine it’s got everything this bike keep up the awesome videos pal👍
Nice! You'll be much safer with you airbag vest. I just wish all riders wore airbag tech, there would so many less deaths and riders getting majorly hurt. Best if luck and thanks for being a viewer!
Akra tech said it didn't. There is a motovlogger who ran a test with the akra exhaust and no flash on a 2021 mt-07 and it did well. However, I did the flash to ensure I had no issues. I would recommend a flash as you say.
Mine had rusted breaks just 2 months out of the shop, 3 months later swingarm rust, replaced twice under warranty in less than 6 months, thankfully last swingarm seemed better made and did not rust anymore. Rear suspension rusted a lot too, front suspension showed some signs of rust, and this is in Spain where salt on roads isn't very common, so imagine in UK or countries where there is a lot of water, humidity and salt. Is a cheaply made bike, the Suzuki SV 650 rusts waaay less, sadly it is being discontinued.
Hey cycle, my mt07 2021 is amazing I agree with your points.I just got an atlas Cruze control for it, what’s your thoughts on after market Cruze control?
It's funny how everyone's bitching about crf250l suspension being too soft. I'm honestly lovin it. Estonian roads are often rough and plush suspension is a gift from the heaven.
its hard to talk about something like rust in 7 months. you really havent had the bike long enough to see if one of those problems start. if it has a spot or two in a couple years from now, itll be rusted out in 10. the bike i ride every day is 13 years old and solid, no rust. its not enough time to guage everything. as a machinist, i can tell you the metalurgy and finishinng on parts like subframes or handlebars is sub par
30 seconds talking about rust and the other 90% of the video goes back to MT07 pros and cons and MT07 vs MT09 Your channel is like if Doug Demuro discussed the quirks and features of the same one or 2 cars in every video for years at a time 😂
i have the same exhaust and youre telling me ive been stressing getting a tune asap for nothing xD i have an appointment for next month ill get it dyno tuned
Hi CycleCruza! I have the same year and color MT-07. I noticed the fan on mine has kicked on while idling at a stop. I can hear it through my earplugs. Not a big deal to me. Two things I dislike about the bike are the arrangement of the instrument/signal controls on the left side handlebar and the difficulty of accessing the air filter. Regarding the instrument controls, the horn is too close to the turn signal and it can easily be pressed while trying to operate the turn signal. Also, I wish there was more feedback from activating and canceling the turn signal switch. It feels cheaply made and sometimes I can’t tell if I activate and cancel it. I have to look down at my instrument display. I was looking at the Akrapovich exhaust for mine, but decided on the Leo Vince Evo One exhaust. I had the ECU flashed. It sounds amazing and it’s super loud. I didn’t remove the baffle either.
My 2019 MT-07 has no rust and I live in Florida and it is my only daily driver I ride in the rain all the time. I do lube my chain every 100/150 miles. If you watch David Moss videos he has a fix for the front forks and I did it to mine and it really helps. I love my MT-07 . I have the TST low mount tag with the LED light and you can see it plan as day and night no problem. I really like all my TST industry mods. CycleCruze get the TST rear chain adjusters with spools. It’s the best for doing chain cleaning, and lube. Brother when are you going to do the slider protection. I love how awesome my bike looks with all Woodcraft stuff. Don’t listen to the hater’s. Also you ride your bike probably pretty hard. I not on the throttle to hard I get about 49 miles per gallon. Shift it around 5 rpm.
I have one and it was my first bike. I’m so glad it doesn’t have a slipper clutch. I learned how to rev match and all the basics without the technology. It’s the best bike as is.
I can't speak for the mt07 but I had traction control on my GSXS750(I've been riding over 30 years). I Always rode with it off. If you are an experienced rider to me traction control is really not a need. NOW slipper clutch would be cool for those days you are pushing it hard and coming up on a corner fast and down shifting. But again just know the limits of your bike and you will be fine. I just purchased a new 2022 MT07 but have not picked it up yet. Can't wait to ride it around.
You don't really need a slipper clutch for street. As far as tcs, I always cut it off on bikes with it. I like pure bike with no restrictions and let my throttle hand be in full control.
Honestly I could care less about mpg, I just shared that info for you all. That would be more beneficial for those of you who commute and are trying to save on gas. I'm sure you could get much better mpg being soft of the throttle and in 6th gear around town. I just love to rip on this bike, so fun.
I have that same lawn mower but the thingy that controls the speed on self propelled mode broke so I gotta push it or else it goes on full speed which I can't keep up with 🙁
My XJ6 i think its called FZ6 in the US has some rust at the tail of the frame under the seat i did drive it for 3 years every day in all weather conditions tho
I’m currently on 25km per litre after 14 months of hooning the arse clean off mine. That’s 58.8 mpg. But mine is stock, and I do a fair amount of riding out of the city. Maybe that’s where the difference is at.
Modding the MT-07 sure does affect the MPG, sheesh. To be honest, even full stock was a really fun bike. However, you have to at least out on a slip on for that amazing CP2 enhanced sound.
@@CycleCruza I looked at the Akro Euro 5 pipe but at that price, ($2,000 here in Japan) I’d have been better getting a standard MT-09 which doesn’t need a new pipe it sounds so good stock. I hear you, though, about the sound. If I can find something reasonable enough, I’ll get it. But I’d rather spent $2,000 on upgrading the suspension and brake cables and pads. Make sense?
WTF? The fuel economy is worse than my M8 Road King (41mpg), & that's with a stage 1 (air filter, slip ons, & tuner) installed. Of course, riding style might have a little to do with it, I'm not really ripping through side streets as I live in the boonies. Everywhere I ride is 20+ miles away on 40-70 mph freeways & roads. Still, I'd have expected maybe 10mpg loss not dang near 20 as the high end (my RK lost about 4 or 5mpg after a stage 1). As far as Yamaha anything goes, I never heard that they're prone to rusting, must be a new complaint?
The MPGs are rated by conservative riders. City, with slow steady acceleration and coasting on 1/4 throttle between lights. Highway, riding smooth flat with one acceleration per 20 miles...again cruising at 1/4 throttle. I've seen CC ride. That ain't him. He has a need for speed....but you don't buy a MT 07 or 09 to plod about.
I've suddenly feel the need for a royal enfield classic 350 like that bike looks so slooow like it'll definitely suit a nub like me for sure I think like I don't know whether I can handle that but that's just plain slow like straight up slow but kinda sounds okay ikr no cruisers no cruisers 😂 that's the mantra 😂❤ stay safe be safe ride safe OHIO ❤❤❤
It is not a top end bike but you wouldn't be disappointed in the bottom end grunt which is why I got the bike. very torquey feeling bike like the mt-09 but just feels better than the mt-09 to me. I hate the ergos on the mt-09 chassis but that CP3 engine is great,
alright, youre a liar. theres no way that bike has been ridden on a salty road. absolutely shameful. not even a good lie. why hurt your credibility that way? jeez man

I feel the same way about my vstrom suspension. It’s like a pogo stick going down the street but is amazing at eating up potholes.
Actually, this 2022 MT-07's suspension is not pogo like, pretty settled unlike that 2020 MT-09 I had.
I have a 2017 and I don't have any rust either. I did mod my front forks myself and it improved it a bunch under hard braking and it still is fine on the West Virginia roads. hey powamoto! Thanks for being a viewer, I always appreciate it!
Fluid Film is a great and relatively inexpensive protectant. Can also be used to lube the chain.
Coating in ACF -50 is a popular rust preventative after a good wash. I think that stuff comes from Europe so it cost a little but there’s some good domestic rust preventatives for bikes.
have you applied the product I have it but havnt used it yet
@@kevincraig8257 Yessir, I literally just washed my bike and applied after drying to all the metals and wiring.
I’ve also regularly done this with good success and you can get it off Amazon

Shift it around 5 rpm.
my MT07 got some rust on the Frame and swingarm after like 1 1/2 years.
With a steel frame, any scartches will likely get rust. Yamaha should put an aluminum frame on the mt-07.
please check out the Honda CB 500 X - thanxx
Hey dude, btw how's your thoughts about it not having a slipper clutch and a tcs?
@@woodknack1 trust me, you’re gonna have a blast riding the mt07!
You don't really need a slipper clutch for street. As far as tcs, I always cut it off on bikes with it. I like pure bike with no restrictions and let my throttle hand be in full control.
If you want the maximum miles per gallon MPG you need to run the OEM specs tire PSI.
Honestly I could care less about mpg, I just shared that info for you all. That would be more beneficial for those of you who commute and are trying to save on gas. I'm sure you could get much better mpg being soft of the throttle and in 6th gear around town. I just love to rip on this bike, so fun.
My 17 aprilia tuono factory just broke down again. Alarm service smh Italian turd love the Channel
I have an 2014 first gen, and I don't have any problem with rust
I have that same lawn mower but the thingy that controls the speed on self propelled mode broke so I gotta push it or else it goes on full speed which I can't keep up with 🙁
Just finished covering my mt 07 from 2018 in xcp rust blocker I had to sand down rust many placed. Get it rust protected before it starts.
Since everything is painted black: do you repaint then?
@@BramVanhautte yes
I bought a brand new Yamaha mt07 2022 , after 800 km i had rust on it already 😅

needs a small windscreen
love to see that video
My XJ6 i think its called FZ6 in the US has some rust at the tail of the frame under the seat i did drive it for 3 years every day in all weather conditions tho
try having one and living in England, then you'll see how they rust!!
Make sense?
jeus christ the rust, its just on the surface, just dont worry about it
You ride around with your blinkers on just as much as I do 😂
😞
I'm also guilty of it.
As far as Yamaha anything goes, I never heard that they're prone to rusting, must be a new complaint?
look at the headers, that bike has never seen rain of course it has no rust 😂

SC Project makes a matte black racing exhaust for the MT07 and it looks and sounds better than the Akrapovic. $$$
Mivv sounds better and it’s way cheaper. Sc are just over glorified soda cans
SC Project exhausts are loud af. The akra is specifically engineered for the MT-07.
@@CycleCruza sc is loud because it’s literally just a pipe with a hollow soda can at the end
Also Akrapovic makes a full exhaust and it’s really nice but as the SC project $$$$
To get the 50 mpg you kinda need to baby it. And we know that aint happening with this machine 😂
Wait 2,5 year, then you will see rust on frame... issue is where welds are made.... this is sad...
Yeah my shit rusting tooo
I hate the ergos on the mt-09 chassis but that CP3 engine is great,
Yup, it's cheaply built with some hilariously shoddy technical solutions. Just like the new MT-09. Yamaha goes cheap on everything except the engines.
What exactly you found cheap on the MT09?
When it gets warm out it will rust.
I heard they rust so fast you need a bucket to sweep it all up every morning.😂tbf its 2023,nothing should rust these days!
It won't rust if you keep the bike clean
👍👍
hey! Thanks for viewing!
There was a lot of salt under your bike...
YAMAHA!
alright, youre a liar. theres no way that bike has been ridden on a salty road. absolutely shameful. not even a good lie. why hurt your credibility that way? jeez man
Rofl is this is troll video? If you never cleaned the bike or lubed the chain for 7 months, then you haven't ridden it either ROFL 😂
The problem with gas mileage is no one is going to sixth gear immediately and the bike is way too fun to not ride it hard all the time lol
None of the yamahas get good mileage.
For comparison a Hayabusa gets high 30's
I'm sorry but that is an ugly bike. I'll stay with my MT-03 and my XT250. I'm a shorter rider none the less. 🫵
