Fourty years old and I still religiously listen to Milo. I’m still that awkward teenage girl smoking behind the gym. Thank you Milo for always making me feel nerdy and pretty awesome. I love these guys
I think Descendents is Punk Rock band not Pop Punk or fuckin else dude😅. Many peoples say Descendents and Bad Religion is pioneers of pop punk but they’re wrong dude🙏
I’m 19 and just found these guys last February, Im not a loser came up in my suggested. I started listening to them more because I was going through one of the hardest times in my life and needed the aggression, but right after silly girl and good good things played and they matched so well with what I was going though I instantly fell even more in love with the band. Within 3 months they became my 2nd most listened to band of the last 7 years on Spotify. So glad I got to see them in june, one of my favorite concerts I’ve ever been to
Omg! You're new to the Descendents? I'm 45, discovered these guys when I was 15 and they are hands down my favorite band. Dig in! They have so much good stuff. Enjoy! (You'll get the joke)
Really? I've never heard anyone speak anything but glorious praise of them. Not to mention the recent "rediscovery" of them their popularity is stronger than ever.
Pop punk will never be able too recapture what the descendants did,so raw and aggressive and you can always hear all the bass lines like alot of 80 and 90s punk love the descendants and im 40 lol
I'm the one I've been here for you all along I'm the one Whose shoulder you've been cryin' on Nice guys finish last No one knows as good as me We're just good friends And you come to me for sympathy And tell me that I'm not your type Still you call me late at night Every time he picks a fight After all he's said and all he's done I'm the one I've been here for you all along I'm the one Whose shoulder you've been cryin' on He's a total dick That's the truth and you know I'm right From everything you say There's no way he'll ever do you right You love a man who treats you wrong You think you'll change him But you're wrong He'll use you, he'll say so long After all he's said and all he's done I'm the one I've been here for you all along I'm the one Whose shoulder you've been cryin' on I'm the one Who wants you more than anything You don't feel the same way You made it clear to me But I'll stand my ground And maybe you'll hear what I've been sayin' After all I've said and all I've done I'm the one I've been here for you all along I'm the one Whose shoulder you've been cryin' on
I see all these comments from people that are so much older than me enjoying descendents makes me so happy, I'm just starting highschool and I just discovered descendents, im in love and I genuinely don't think I've ever liked a band this much before. I relate to so many of their lyrics and its amazing to see how many other people from all different walks of life love their music too
That's awesome, been a fan since the high school myself but that was 30 years ago! Blasted their cassette in the halls until my stereo got confiscated by the principal.
That's so cool. I got into these guys when I was in HS as well. 9th grade. 30+ years ago. I'm not a loser was the first song I heard from Descendents and it all went from there. Enjoy!
My dad introduced me to punk rock songs when I was 6 years old. and the first song I heard was descendents "Im the one". it is 2020 and now I'm 23 years old and I still always listen to this song.
still one of the best punkrock songs and bands. Been around the scene since '94, and this song still gets played reguarly, abit more after a breakup 🤘😅😅🤘
This song still sounds amazing and modern even though this originally came out in 1996! Andy Wallace killed mix on this album and it's by far the best sounding Descendents record.
they are precursors of what later would be pop punk. check their debut album milo goes to college. this song was launched during the subgenre's mainstream rise.
My son loves the descendents I bought him filmage the story of the descendents/All he watches it all day long over and over and it's from the time he wakes up till he goes to bed
Most All these comments are trolls. Listen to the lyrics and undrstand the atmosphere. He aint no fake nice guy. The irony is he putting high energy into something not so fun, thats what descendents do and a lot of punk. I feel he was honest in his lyrics but he isn't about to snap on the girl like a guy pretending to be nice he is actually a good dude. Theres no violence or bad intentions
Blink and you miss it. Reminds me of the Pantrea video where Phil's EHG shirt is never quite in focus. Funny considering Marilyn Manson was a staple on MTV at this time.
Went to a concert recently and the Descendents never lost it. Even got to meet Milo after and take a photo with him. Really nice guy and one of my favorite bands.
I remember seeing these guys i guess in 1980 ish and the guitar player was playing so hard his pants fell off and finished the set In his fkn BOXER SHORTS when boxers weren't cool.... thanx for 40 years of angst, Mike. You are one of a kind. Someone had to stick up for us 'punks'.
Oh man this was one of those songs that would be on the sound track if I made one of my life. They were one of the 4 or 5 bands that I heard and I knew I was home.
Hard to say who really started it. Generation X and Buzzcocks were doing it in UK in '77. Totally hysterical! The containers that the "samples" are being put in at about 2:30 in the video are corney kegs! Is one of the band members a homebrewer?
I'm so used to seeing Milo as a cartoon doodle that seeing actual footage of him feels bizarre
LMAO
🍀
In my head he’s still in college

Lol that’s the power of music
Descendents: 4 average guys who wrote songs about breakups, food, coffee and being nerds. Brilliant!
And farts!!! 🤣
And sex
They for sure were not average.
Yeah.. never meet your hero’s ..
I would never say that Bill Stevenson is an average guy. The Blasting Room. Nothing else need be said. ❤
This is when pop-punk was not a derogatory term, one of the 10 best punk bands of all time.
GG IS GOD
Agreed!!!
"one of the 10 best punk bands of all time.
" NO FUCKING DOUBT
But aren't they melodic hardcore?
I think Descendents is Punk Rock band not Pop Punk or fuckin else dude😅. Many peoples say Descendents and Bad Religion is pioneers of pop punk but they’re wrong dude🙏
The beatles of punk. Its truly a crime that they arent played on the radio
Thats not the game they play....but I dont care anyways
I am glad they're not played on the radio, that would defeat the purpose...
@@yiago1 Id say that but every person ive shown descendents to has said "why have I never heard of them"
I play them on my radio show
at least, they played on radio in gta

Good for you bro! Get some TSOL under your belt
that's great! I'm in my 30's and just got into them. As a friend said to me recently, "you've always been punk, you just didn't realize it".
Good for you, do you like Sublime? Check them out if you haven't listened yet, my favourite band.
I am new to this band.....over 40 and loving the vibe. We need more bands like this today.

As i now go into my late 40s, i still believe the descendents are the greatest bands in punk rock.
Preach it, brotha! 44 here.
I may only be 17, but ever since 5 years ago I've come to the same conclusion that Descendents and ALL are indeed the greatest bands in punk rock.
50 here and the descendants were the soundtrack to my life. Miss those days, and this always takes me back. Love these guys for eternity.
No doubt!!!
Them, propagandhi or against me
This song still holds up. Totally underrated.
well these days it would be attributed to Incels.
This band is so underrated
It really is. I hope they can get more popular with their new album

I'm the one
I've been here for you all along
I'm the one
Whose shoulder you've been cryin' on
Nice guys finish last
No one knows as good as me
We're just good friends
And you come to me for sympathy
And tell me that I'm not your type
Still you call me late at night
Every time he picks a fight
After all he's said and all he's done
I'm the one
I've been here for you all along
I'm the one
Whose shoulder you've been cryin' on
He's a total dick
That's the truth and you know I'm right
From everything you say
There's no way he'll ever do you right
You love a man who treats you wrong
You think you'll change him
But you're wrong
He'll use you, he'll say so long
After all he's said and all he's done
I'm the one
I've been here for you all along
I'm the one
Whose shoulder you've been cryin' on
I'm the one
Who wants you more than anything
You don't feel the same way
You made it clear to me
But I'll stand my ground
And maybe you'll hear what I've been sayin'
After all I've said and all I've done
I'm the one
I've been here for you all along
I'm the one
Whose shoulder you've been cryin' on

One of the best voices in 80s punk, right here.
This is so genius. Pure energy

Crying Gods Tears ANSWERING the Call of The Wild!!!!

This song is pretty much about how you are not 'the one' fantastic prince for this non-existant unicorn... you will get sick of her dude.
I used to believe in unicorns. I later realized that they're all rhinoceros.
this video shows how they are the influence to all the punk rock bands in the world
I'm an old codger and these guys rock. What a dynamic band. Wish I had seen them. Love All as well.

When I’m down, I listen to Descendents. Especially this song, I don’t know why but makes me extremely happy.
The friendzone anthem xD
