    I'm probably one of the most hardcore striper fisherman alive. I've chased Striped bass from Cape Cod, Montauk and long island, to San Francisco Bay, Colorado river and every dam in the south for the last 55 years. I'm in the river or lake at 4am almost nightly, no boat, just me and $1200 daiwa saltiga dogfight, and $500 custom Lamiglas rod. (I have about 75 rods and reels) When I heard big stripers were biting in Central Tennessee, i moved me and the wife from Pennsylvania to Nashville for 10 years. Then to Florida for 15 years, now we just moved back to Tennessee again. Gotta move with the flow baby....I use giant mostly swimbaits now, castaics, huddlestons and AC plugs, top of the line hooks split rings, and swivels and gear. Stripers are my life. No excuses for oh the line snapped, or he straightened a hook.....Im under dams most of the time. I live where there are 50- 60 pounders taken constantly in Tennessee. Good choices on these lures. I'm after 50 pounders. I get my share, but I'm fanatical. Every fish is released alive. Never kept one. Big dark lures and swimbaits fished slow on 50lb braid under the dams when generating at night = success. Good video buddy

      Dude thats badass i just started hunting these guys and catch em mostly on hard plastics but really want to know how to use paddletails and flukes at night. How is the retrieve on a paddletail? Let it hit bottom etc etc?

      @@cavesuki8510 i mostly throw huge swim and glide baits, and im a shore line bank fisherman. That makes it 10X more difficult. I fish far away from people, mostly at 3-4 am in remote walk in places, usually under big dams in the south east.. Im not into crowds or people. I dress in muted colors and camo and stalk shallow water stripers. Its difficult, i don't get many, but all i get are 40+ pounders. Thats what im after. Where i live in E Tennessee there are monsters in these lakes and rivers. Thats why i moved here. My tackle is insane, super heavy and modified my back pack and contents are worth $$$$. I mostly only use top dollar tackle like saltiga, stella reels and Loomis, st croix and lamiglas rods. I try not to use any,chinese tackle. When possible. Not always easy tho. But thats how i roll. In the last 60 years, I've caught 5 stripers over 50 pounds, but none that big in the last 25 years, since i lived in Calif. That will change in 2024. Its what i love

      @@stripervince1 Hell yeah i’m going out again tomorrow silverwood lake in CA, i get em mostly between 3am to 7am but since winter started i havent been able to find them as often as i did in the spring & summer. What is the best advice you have to recognize patterns of their movement around bodies of water? Cause most of my catches are by the dam & aquaduct spillway that dumps them into the lake but has been a hit & miss as of late so i dont think i am keeping up with their movement & feeding patterns. I’m a lot like you in the way you hunt minus the high end gear but thats cause most of my money goes to lures but i’m obsessed over these fish right now so i understand

    • @stripervince1

      @@cavesuki8510 wait till you get a 45 pounder! Think your hooked (pun) now? Lol. I used to fish Silverwood all the time, when i lived in Palmdale back in the 1980s and 90s, when the Striper fishing was exploding there. We used giant swimbaits like AC plugs. If youre a shore line fisherman, my recommendation would be something like this....now i havent been at silverwood in 30 years. But if there are still big ones in there, try this, get a good spinning reel like a $129 Daiwa BG 4500,(awesome reel for the price) dont need a $900 stella. It has good line capacity and great drag. put black color 40 pound braid, any brand, they are all fantastic today, and a pretty stout 7 or 8 ft rod. Try any kind of shad or rainbow trout pattern top water swimmer between 4 and 10 inches, jointed floating wiggler. There are tons of striper quality baits. Those are the only 2 patterns you should have in your bag for stripers. You can use 5 inch jig head bucktails and white twister tails to throw into the boils by the dam and spillways. Try to be there at day break and darkness. If its anything like it used to be, hang on tight. One summer night at Silverwood probably around 1988, me and 2 friends caught about 30 fish that all around 25-30 pounds each. And lake pyramid was even better fishing than silverwood was back then. Where do you live, wat city?

      A lot of older fishermen swear by those. Ol Smokey or Chicken Scratch. Some guys even like to sand all the paint off except for the eyes leaving that dull white plastic color that stripers love.

    how strong is it the jointed bomber?

    • @OutofWORKoutdoors
      @OutofWORKoutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on how big of a fish and what kind of line you are using. It's not as strong as the non-jointed but some times you need to get the bite first.

      @@OutofWORKoutdoors Yes man, I have the magic swimmer but it seem like it won't last at all. Sometime I have fish split the lure into half. That is why I kind of hesitate to try the joined lure again. Love bomber because that is how I start with fishing with lure.
