Thank you for watching, and for the kind words! I am still learning how to do those shots, and I never know they will end up until after I get home and do the edit. So it’s always a bit of a thrill to reach the final product haha!
Thank you! I try to hit up the rim trail a couple of times each year, it’s one of my favorite places to escape the summer heat of the Chihuahuan desert.
Thanks! Yeah, it’s one of my favorites to do. Easy to get to from El Paso with different trailheads to choose from. I look forward to when you and I can get a hike in! Thanks for watching 🙏🙏🙏
This was an absolutely beautiful video! That Milkyway shot with the tree was spectacular. I love how it had that big tree in the foreground and gave a feeling of just how small we really are. Keep up the good work!
Aww thanks so much! It’s awesome to hear when others have a reaction to the photos! Thank you for watching, and thank you for the encouraging feedback 🙏🙏🙏
It looks you and your son had an enjoyable backpacking trip! I've had an issue dispersed camping around Cloudcroft where the OHV's think the forest roads are a racetrack & believe everyone in the forest wants to listen to their cool music. I say that to ask, do you find the rim trail is adequately peaceful / quiet? Are there a lot of hikers on the trail or would you say there is ample solitude? I am considering my options for a Lincoln NF overnighter. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for watching! In my experience, I usually get solitude on the rim trail with the occasional hiker and dirt bike. On this trip, my son and I saw only 2 other hikers on trail and a group of 10 or 11 dirt bikes. It was noisy for those few minutes with the dirt bikes, but otherwise peaceful. I’ve had one experience where a large group was very loud and had taken over an area near my campsite, they were having fun on quads and shooting at targets; but they were respectful of my son and me and weren’t a bother other than the noise. I’ve also had experiences where I spent an entire weekend on the rim trail and didn’t see more than 1 or 2 other people. So I suppose it’s hit or miss, but I usually have a good time out there.
For this video I am. I have the first version of the dji osmo pocket, which has a built-in gimbal. For its size, I think it does a great job! I used my full frame camera for the photos, but sometimes I use it for both photo and video. In these cases I don’t use a gimbal, but I use a shoulder strap and controlled body movements to stabilize it. What I like about the osmo pocket is that I can easily get shots that I wouldn’t with a hand-held camera, like the shots flying through the grass. Thanks for watching!
@@ChucoHiker oooooo.... That's a huge one!! Who makes anything not weather proof nowadays anyways! I have paper that's weather proof... Come on DJI! 🤦♂️
Great shots and backpacking in the forests of New Mexico. A win, win!✅
Thanks man, I just wish we could’ve had another night out there. One is never enough, but I’m thankful for the one we got 🙏🙏🙏
Loved those shots of the Milky Way

You silver-tongued devil! Your narrations are brilliant.
Thanks man! I wish I had your wit though, I envy your ability for on-the-fly banter 😉
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you liked it 🙏🙏🙏
The Lincoln national forest is legit, and the rim is a view, God bless your excursions.

Thanks! I’m really looking forward to taking astrolandscape shots when we are there!!! Thanks for watching 🙂
The best 5 minutes on TH-cam ✌
High praise indeed! Thanks man, I’m glad you liked it 🙏🙏🙏
Good video. I read that sign at the end. It’s pretty cool that trail was the first national recreation trail in New Mexico. Happy trails brother.

@@ChucoHiker yes! I figured, those shots all tie it very well. That little thing is awesome I hear. I might get one now... 🤔
@@optimal_frank I like mine! I’ve been using it for several years now, and the only thing I wish it had was weather proofing heh-heh.

@@optimal_frankHeh-heh yeah. I end up putting it in a ziplock bag and pulling out the iPhone to record when it starts raining. 🤷♂️
