I don't know. It's hard to place them in order of "the best". They are all heroes of mine for one reason or another. Marshall because he was in his prime when I was growing up and I wanted to be him (short enough, just not quick enough ;) but Roberts in HIS prime (in the mid-70s) was incredible. The greatest action of them all was, of course, Michael Holding - and he was the quickest on his day. Devastatingly quick. But Garner was a master of his craft...and then there were the "minor" quicks, like Clarke, Daniel, Croft and later Patterson (some say he was the quickest) to name but four. What an era. What a privilege it was to see it.

T T - they were all amazing, but Marshall was something else. When I watched him I was always impressed with his variety, thinking of the best way to get his man out. In addition for much of his career he was the fastest WI bowler, and the most dangerous because with his shorter height he skidded the ball on, which caught out many batsmen, as well as injuring a few

Absolute terror its like getting slaughtered murdered killed going into bat & facing them. As if entering a cage of vicious wild animals full of Lions Tigers Cheetahs Panthers . Imagine they are bowling against today's t20 cricketers without no bouncer limit rule.
Most of the famous careers would've been cut short if they played after 90's with this kind of fast bowlers.

I don't think a single of today's batsmen would even survive let alone score substantially against this attack.Kohli,Steve Smith Root included.

Marshal was the most thinking one of them all with amazing bulldog tenacity... He used to wreak havoc on India/Pak subcontinental bald dry pitches tailored for spin... Where shoulders of other pacers would droop at times... Legendary guy... Still vividly recall the drubbing he gave India on the post 83 WC revenge tour of WI to India...

in that tour i remember Sir Clive as captian being pelted with stones by the indian crowd during the post match interview
