It often happen to me too, tooooo often, music take full control of my emotions and …I cry cause I feel powerless in front of such a beauty caressing my soul.
I do not watch television. On television you have to watch force fed junk. On youtube your favorite entertainers never die. You can choose what you want to watch and just about everything you ever liked is there. Thanks for youtube.
I agree. How many times have I came back to this masterpiece and watched it? Nice observation you posted, it sure applies here and countless other times.
I just watched it for the umpteenth time---I was struck with the fact that this is so much more classy and meaningful than the Dylan version. The whole lot of them walked out in front of the audience, sat down, not a worry one in their minds at all. They totally had it all together--no doubts, no misgivings, they knew exactly how it would be---PURE EXCELLENCE. Jerry and Chet and the others just worked like a machine, they obviously had no apprehensions. Wonderful video, hope it stays here a long time. Wow---26 years ago, hard to believe.
Agree completely. Seemingly without any effort at all, Jerry gave this standby a totally new harmonic structure from the very first note. So rare that we see Chet take a full length solo, and this one is a masterwork. And to top it off, Pat Bergeson's guitar is both tasteful and tasty, and gives yet another interpretation to what I always thought of as a lonesome blues. This one's going in my vault.
You have some beautiful comments on this song and other songs too +Bruce Werner.... I am a comment reader , I believe you are on top of my list for the comments you post...I see you on many songs with some great comments... Have a good day... Cynthia..
I heard the Peter, Paul, and Mary version first. That was formative for me. The song is a great one, and I have not met a version that I haven't liked!
Those who gave thumbs down will find out what happens when you hit this age.then compare your thumbs on yourselves from your golden yrs to present. I Wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.
I don't even really like harmonica and that was amazing. I mean, of course Jerry Reed and Chet are legends but that harmonica player just fit right in there. So good
This takes this Dylan Classic to a new level. Cannot get sick of listening to this....great musianship! Wish I knew the name of the Harmonica player...he is excellent.
This is a the version you listen to wheb you wake up at 5:30am in a interstate motel, get breakfast and coffee at the waffle house, smoke a cigarette then get back on the road
People don realize the real Good ole boys are almost gone now not the plastic we have today so what we have left we should treasure and listen and learn about them now I tell people this because soon enough people are going to realize the se singers they dont make no more
Great rendition of my favorite Bod Dylan song. I really like this one and also Ramblin Jack Elliot. Great work by the harmonica player as well. Does anyone know his name ?
JERRY REED. & CHET ATKINS. ARE AWESOME, TWO GUITAR PICKERS. I THINK THAT JERRY REED IS A VERY AWESOME SINGER. HE,S BEEN PLAYING A GUITAR SENCE HE WAS 8. IF ANYONE WHO DOSENT LIKE JERRY REED, S MUSIC. THEN DON'T LISTEN TO IT.
Jerry picked at the New York crowd with his Atlanta braves hat then he couldn't get the guitar to come through the amp cause the cord wasn't plugged in all the way Chet and jerry messed with for a second and Paul yandell told jerry to plug his cord all the way in
I hate to flaunt it in front of ya he says holding up his hat, but I'll have y'all know in 1969 I was sitting in the atlanta stauduim and the Yankees came down with (mentions some players name I forget) and they swept us. Chester my guitar don't work, the amps on jerry you got to plug your cord all the way in. Oh you got to stick it all the way in
Dorohedoro yes Pat is a wonderful multi instrumentalists. He was married to Allison Krause for about ten years or so. He is currently in a band called The Hot Club of Nashville which is fronted by his current wife Annie Sellick and features the dazzling guitar of Richard Smith.
JERRY HUBBARD WAS BORN WITH TIS NAME JERRY HUBBARD SO OUT OF RESPECT I CHOODE TO CALL HILL BY HIS GIVEN BIRTH NAME JERRY WAS ..WELL LOVED WELL TALLENTED MAN.. A VERY GOOD OLE GEORGIA BOY BORN AND RAISED HE DID WELL.IN YHIS WORLD .MADE GEORGIA LOOK GOOD WELL JERRY HUBBARD ..YOU YOUR REST IN PEACE
Don't Think Twice is sort of like pizza. There are some versions that are better than others, and some that are very good, but not many bad ones. It's such a good song that you have to work to mess it up.
Chet always used high action. Jerry on the other hand liked his so low that it buzzed and rattled and got real funky. Paul Yandell said once "raise your action until a #2 pencil can roll around and that's Chet's action."
You must just not like harmonica because this is some of the finest harp blowin you’ll here this guys got talent. Ill agree with Bob’s being less intrusive and also a lower key so it’s a bit easier on the ears but as a guy who digs the harmonica this is far superior. I think version is the best cover and don’t crucify but better than the original too
Jerry Reed was far far better than people ever gave him credit for.
He was pretty highly rated in his day, he just dropped out of peoples memories, because he wasn't as ambitious as Chet or Les.
A lot of people overlook the reed man. But in reality he’s a top 5 country guitar picker of all time. A virtuoso with the fingers
Absofreakinlutely...
By far the best version of this Bob Dylan song!
For people who don't know much about harmonica. This solo was just a pure showcase of mind blowing technicity.
Who is the harp player??
@@kellytobey5179 Pat Bergeson
@@dansdotcom thanks
yeah and same about guitars :) master class. i love the last bended notes of harmonica at the end
The Alabama Madman always DID have a way a melody and words😆Pat B DOES honk sumpin’ fierce, hey!😲
This is so pretty I cried.
metoo
Been known to get a bit choked up myself.
I haven't cried, but it could bring tears of joy in some to witness this awesome performance. Pure talent here.
Beauty full and making it as far into age as fingers’ll flick and minds’ll tick
It often happen to me too, tooooo often, music take full control of my emotions and …I cry cause I feel powerless in front of such a beauty caressing my soul.
Jerry Reed's groove bridges the gaps between country, funk, bluegrass and folk. Wonderful post.
I love it! I'm sure Jerry could have kept the funk groove with the best.
Che musica fantastica!!! CHET è il miglior chitarrista di tutti i tempi.
Two of my most favorite players ... so so much talent !

I agree. How many times have I came back to this masterpiece and watched it? Nice observation you posted, it sure applies here and countless other times.
Amen!
I listened to Bob Dylan, Peter Paul and Mary and James Taylor sing this and by far, Jerry Reed's version is head and shoulders above them all.
Nothing on Waylon
Great performance by Jerry Chet and the harmonica player excellent
"Goodbye is just too good a word babe, so I'll just say go to hell." I agree with that sentiment - something Bob probably didn't intend!
The >> GREATEST GUITAR THAT EVER LIVED>>> AND WILL EVER LIVE >>>
C H E T A T K I N S ..........🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
That was superb!
I love it when the greats cheer each other on. When you are that good, completion is not needed.
Rest in peace to two greats! As I always said, as a New York boy, to make it out of Nashville you had to be unbelievably talented, boy that was them!,
Jerry Reed was awesome great performer👍
Where has all the good music gone?

Compared to most music today it’s mind blowing the showcase of mastery and abundance of style in just 3 minutes
Wow..speechless .
so beautiful....the guitars plus the harmonica...God bless us. thank you for uploading.

Two of the best👌
Pat Bergeson on the Harmonic! Great guitarist as well!
Wow, these two sounds so good together.
AWESOME SONG BY JERRY REED.

This is a slice of life, friends.
Tell ‘em, guitar!
Adore this.
My favorite thing about Chet Atkins is how much he loves Jerry Reed. That with the picking. Best person ever.
@James Finer than frog hairs James. Best to you!

@@loriwolf2124 well, Chet was a good guitar player, but he wasn’t a very good singer.
Sin duda alguna lo mejor de la música country.
Imagine being on a stage with 2 of the best guitar pickers to ever do it, and stealing the show with a harmonica. Goddamn that dudes a legend
the best version imo. It's more upbeat and musically superior.
From Keith Richards to these guys, one right after the other.😊
amazing ,I found this from your comment from a chet video ,I have jerrys version on my mp3 never seen this before ! thanx man !

Jerry was always so high strung yelling screaming carrying on I thought it hurt him at times .
Arte puro y duro.
put the harmonica player in the credits! Please.
Pat Bergeson on harp also a student of Chet on the guitar. He is excellent on both
Great rendition of my favorite Bod Dylan song. I really like this one and also Ramblin Jack Elliot.

Oh lawdy, auntie Lori has been drinking again!
just love this, can´t stop listening... much better than Bob Dylan´s version. Sorry, Bob :(
👍 yep
Pat Bergeson in harmonica really added some colors
i've been looking for this for a while the dialogue leading up to this song was funny though i was hoping you had it too
Do the Bob Dylan piece you're so proud of!
The rest of the dialog is not in my possession, unfortunately.
Jerry picked at the New York crowd with his Atlanta braves hat then he couldn't get the guitar to come through the amp cause the cord wasn't plugged in all the way Chet and jerry messed with for a second and Paul yandell told jerry to plug his cord all the way in
Now that you say it, I do remember hearing this conversation before!

They just don't make them anymore. And that harmonica!!!!
Danke
Jerry Reed reminds me of Jerry Miller of Moby Grape - similar styles
What's the guy's name on the harmonica? I like his sound
That's Pat Bergeson! Great harmonica/guitar player
Philip Jordanov awesome, thanks

It's awesome at 2x spees
Every time I hear these two on the guitar I either want to grab mine and practice more or smash the damned thing into kindling wood! Lol.

“Chester!”
Young Rudy was putty good on the harp😂
Fretkiller?
1:30 - 2:05 so genius
Don't worry: it is the best interpretation since Bob Dylan cannot sing - but of course is the most prominent composer
Bob Dylan is a master lyricist. He lets others interpret his work.
The man was a creative genius but Bob Dylan songs are best performed by other more talented players and singers for sure haha
HEY Cori bush !!! GET A GRIP !!!!!! GREEN BS !!!
His action looks high af
Chet always used high action. Jerry on the other hand liked his so low that it buzzed and rattled and got real funky. Paul Yandell said once "raise your action until a #2 pencil can roll around and that's Chet's action."

That was a pretty jerky lyric interpretation. My opinion.
You're a pretty jerky lad, making snazzy comments about Jerry's lyric interpretation when he's no longer around to defend himself..
I thought it was great classic Jerry Reed sense of humor! Dude... or dud... I bet you're a real party animal...
