I remember back in the day when I was SO BROKE and could not take advantage of the deals and markdowns because I could only buy what I needed to feed myself for a few days. I'm glad those days are behind me but so many people are living in that reality.
I always look for clearance items at Dollar Tree. I found dish detergent, large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, ibuprofen, and craft supplies for 25 - 75 cents. These buys aren't frequent, though, so I stock up while I can.

I always go over budget just like you if I find items we need on sale I purchase when I find what we need I have extra money to do this aged 56 and am able to adjust my budget
I shop very similarly. I may get 5 or 6 extra of something instead of 3 extras. It depends on how well it will keep and how fast we will use it. I would do that on the Coast soap and I use that brand some of the time, too.
I remember as a teenager Kroger had yogurt at 3/$1 and that was such a treat. Today I drink Kefir daily. When it goes on sale I purchase a lot. I can't go into the stores and look around due to health problems so buying in bulk works for me. Our local Food Lion had a great sale on pork chops and a pork roast. I put the pork roast into the large crock pot with sauerkraut. After cooked placed into single serving sizes and frozen. I love having pre-made meals in freezer. I purchased Kunzler thick bacon 10# at a time break down and put into freezer. Excellent quality and much cheaper purchasing in bulk. Butter is getting so expensive so went to bulk store and bought large 2# hand rolled Amish butter. Cut it down and freeze. Much better quality and cheaper. I wish I was as good at keeping an inventory as you. I found I was purchasing olive oil. When I looked had 3 large bottles. I thought I had Classico spaghetti sauce. I didn't. I need to get a large white board and get to work. Thanks for the motivation.
Olive oil has become so expensive that you were wise to end up with three large containers! I’ve only been doing the inventory for the last two years and I have definitely seen the value in doing it
I bought to jars Nescafe 300 grams together on special saved $8 I compared same coffe3 in 300 gram jarvwas $8 more I bought toilet paper half price cat treats 30 percent of discounted pork etc
We have a spending buffer for the purpose of using for a very good purpose. What hold us back is that the spending buffer is suppose to be replentished on the next income; its much like having a self funded credit card. Meanwhile we budget fill-in groceries separate from stock-up groceries.
Your shirt looks good on you…good color. I would have been over excited to see the markdowns you found. Prices like that we all need to grab because you know we won’t see that often. I am proud to say that the majority of what you do I also do. I have cut my electricity down so much I use that for the extras I find that are a good deal. Good video!
Thank you! Still working on wearing everything in my closet! This one was actually new and had been too small but now fits! Thank you for your response. I was over excited, too!!
I also go over budget at times. Most recently, that was for 14 cans of soup, normally priced at $5.99. It was a variety, diffferent from what I usually buy. However as a Senior Citizen living on a fixed income, I likely have proportionately less money than a couple on Social Security would have. I am always very aware that anytime I go over my budget, it sets me back, and I will have to catch up at some point. I eat a whole foods plant-based diet organic where possible, being able to afford entertaining company is totally out of the question. At this point, grocery shopping is now optional, and I am nolonger adding to my stash, as I have enough to last several years, I do not want to expire, before my preps, be they food or dry goods necessary for every day living....lol. Besides fufure security, the main reason I am a mindful and frugal Prepper is because it provides the best way to mitigate inflation and shortages.
I also got some old elpaso red enchilada sauce a while back for 99 cents a can and used it recently to make the beef enchilada recipe on the back.. it was delicious, a new family favorite
@@PenniestoDollars oh great! Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check there if you're seeing it at yours perhaps it's a mine as well, cuz I could always freeze the unused part of it. That's what I ended up doing with the two cans I thought I needed both of them to make the enchiladas and I opened both of them accidentally and then realized I only really needed one of the cans so I just dumped the other one into a container and stuck it in my freezer for a future or beef enchilada dinner
I am so glad you were able to take advantage of an Ollie's coupon. I actually have two of them on my app right now a 15% off and a 10% off hoping to get there to at least use one of them.
when i write out my shopping list i will allow a miscellaneous dollar amount..usually 20.00 and add it into my total just incase i find a unadvertised sale...

Yes, I was there, too. My heart goes out to those still struggling. I hope some of my tips help.
I remember those days as well. 50# potatoes went a long way! Scabs were $2.50/50# and that was the foundation of eating as a teenager in our home.
Great tips! Thank you!

Fantastic deals! I’m so glad you found them!
I did this on Maxwell House Coffee this week. It was $5 off a canister, so I bought 3 for me and 1 for my grandchild.

Great job! Coffee just keeps going up!
I have used very few coupons, but you're making a believer out of me! Couponing takes time, and now I have the time.
It saves us a lot. 👍

Great! It rarely goes on sale here and it’s usually about $1.79 a can.
@PenniestoDollars yes, for the life of me I cannot remember where I got it it might have been Ollie's but I might be wrong
I saw some giant cans there.

It’s one of the most affordable meats right now here.
