Hi Chris, I have searched for tutorials on chrome vinyl wrapping for a few months now. It is a popular trend and it really looks good if done well. I tried doing my front hood. and everything went perfect working from the center out, up until it got about 6 inches from each outer corner towards the front because it curves down. Although I know that it does not stretch as well as some other vinyl wrap. I was wondering should your heating tips apply to this type of material as well. It seems no one wants to share their knowledge or skills about mirror chrome. most of the videos you see are in warped speed so you can't tell what they are doing. Thanking you in advance for your support
Thanks for the tutorials, every bit of knowledge helps and we use just a $30 ozito heat gun, it works well. Maybe you can show people with a print in the future as overstretching can affect colour.
Im a 3M cetified ppf installer. ive been doing a lot vinyl wrapping but I really need to learn more advance technics. watching your video saved me so many times! hahah any chance coming to US to have Vinyl wrapping class?
I have the 3m 1080 cm12 carbon fiber wrap can I apply this over a vehicle panel with a primer coat? Using this film should I follow the same method you did for applying it to the hood of my car, stretching it in all areas and applying heat to remove the wrinkles?
Hello, this videos are very useful. I just would like to know if I need a heat gun or a simple hair dryer is enough? If not what are the parameters of the heat gun that are required for this task (temperature, liters/minute)? Thank you. Greetings.
As a bit of an detailing enthusiast and not such good painter I'd like to wrap some parts of my car in vinyl. First, how do you keep the vinyl surface clean and looking fresh and can you apply wax on it? Second, as I live in a region with four seasons, what sort of weather resistance this material has? Can it survive temperatures down to -30 celcius?
Is there a MAX TEMP for the heating of this vinyl and also the chrome vinyl?? Looked good until 2 days later I had discolration on the curved areas. Not sure if it was overstretch or overheat..but it went from blue chrome to purple chrome..lol
Discolouration can be caused by both overstretching and overheating. Overstretching a coloured or printed film can cause the colour to change, although this will often return if you use some heat to let the film shrink back to its original shape. Colour change is often a sign that you are overstretching the film. When working with matte film, be careful not to overheat the film as you can cause it to gloss up, this makes the film look darker. This can't be fixed, so be gentle with your heating.
I have a 3M 1080 matte wrap on my car. here and there i would see few bubbles or peel. Each time i take it bk to shop it cost me about 60-100 USD for small fixes. I have been thinking about DYI by buying a heat gun. I need to know what Heat temperature do you recommend?
2:45 if i touch the inside of the vinyl like that do i risk on containing it with dust or whatever and as a result the vinyl won't stick or last that much?
Just wondering why you never take off the signs/lights etc. from the cars you wrap in these tutorials? Is it because you don't wrap these cars and just use these for for tutorial/teaching purposes or is it because they're not needed to be taken off? Cheers in advance
***** thank you for responding. That's Crystal clear to me now. I hope to watch all your videos once my exams are over they were recommended to by a friend that wraps cars. Great work your doing there keep it up!
Hand wash your car regularly and use a good quality car wax to help protect the vinyl from pollutants & UV (but don't wax textured or matte films). You can find a guide to maintaining your wrap on the 3M web site. The film has a minimum recommended service temperature of -60 Celsius, so you should be OK !

not really.. you want to sand back as much of the primer you can.. when wrapping. if you go over primer and then have to pull back the vinyl.. the primer will stick to the back of the wrap. and then will not stick back down..
Oh my. You make this look so darn easy...

Thanks for the tip, what’s the max temp setting for your heat gun. I bought a heatgun and it only has two settings starting with 400 degree Celsius.

***** would you please tell me where to find the white plastic item you have in your hand ?
Could the you wrap a shark fin antenna in the same way as that door handle?
With the heat gun, what is the best temperature to heat at? And is it better than using a blow torch?
2:45 if i touch the inside of the vinyl like that do i risk on containing it with dust or whatever and as a result the vinyl won't stick or last that much?
If I am apply a gloss vinyl do I have to add a laminate to it and if so what is the laminate?
Would you recommend wet or dry application?
What type of heat gun are you using and where can I get one?

I am not sure what you are applying, becaused I missed part 1, but +1 for zero dislikes. On to part 1.
Subtitules please!!!! Great video.
What brand of heat gun are you using?
