I am just starting to get into serious DJ mode. I have been winging it for years, being my company is primarily a Karaoke Company. But, with more and more weddings on the horizon, I need to step it up. I just got my basic dj controller (Numark Mixtrack Platinum) , several lighting effects (Chauvet 4-Play2 and Gig Bar 2) along with some stand alone light bars for basic up-lighting. I now need to get some DMX training, along with DJ Controller training - this is where your videos come in - Shout out to your great job of posting helpful videos - thank you, from us newbies!!!
DJ Barr making djing fun again! Rock on dude and shout on the sponsors man that is goals!!!! peavey and hosa awesome I’m digging that black extension cable I need replace my bright yellow extension cable
This dude is soooo funny and his videos are sooooo entertaining. Even my wife who knows nothing about Djing or sound has a laugh when watching those videos. Love the energy here. Keep those coming Pal !!!
Thanks so much for doing this video! You had lots of great tips and info for DJs that are new as well as seasoned. Amazing insight into how you make the magic happen! Keep sharing the knowledge. Keep the videos coming! Thanks again DJ Bar!
Been looking for a DJ set up for live shows like I need a setup for live shows, looking to just do the DJ way wit a drummer but I have no idea what to get
@Bayardo A Rugama The only thing you missed was, when running more than fixture it is highly recommended that you use a DMX terminator. This will prevent signal corruption as it stops the signal from bouncing back down the line.👍🏽
If you run a split audio from your SL Box into the other 2 channels of your mixer you can achieve "phasing effect", whenever you please, its pretty cool
Damn the main the thing I wanted to see because I don't really see any DJ go over it was running the main power cords and cable management.....maybe for a future video? Nonetheless this video was great and very informative keep up the great content!!!
I’m glad I don’t have to rely on buying cables, I typically make my own cables from USA quality cords not China made. XLR and DMX is essentially the same cable, but the grounding is different.
Where do you get your totem scrims, façade, and if you have a discount/wholesaler for your lights? I’d like to add on when my budget can afford it. Thanks!
GregLuceMusic zzounds.com has a pay as you play deal. Splits items up to 8 payments depending on price. Adj facade, ADJ Hex series all on there and tons more of sound and lighting equipment.
Hey! Why would you use a sound interface? you have a MacBook sitting on top so if you link youre players via Ethernet. and use only a usb cable to connect to one of the cdi's you can easily use rekordboks
Cool vid brotha! I was wondering about the proper way of setting up sound. Do you usually increase the sound from your speakers or from your mixer? I heard that you should increase the music from speaker volume so that you dont get much feedback? Not sure, if that makes sense haha either way keep up the vids!
Hey brother, what's the easiest way to set all my lights to the same color, I don't want them switching colors or blinking just solid colors, I also do not want the extra cables, will a remote controller do this for me? Sorry if I sound dumb but all these lights confuse the shit out of me, and I'm trying to use less cables
I don't have a interface or any thing, I just wanted to be able to set them from a color codes and weety them if any one knows what numbers for each color
Found this video very funny and humorous. Towards the end however I noticed the sound was a bit ahead of the video? Not sure if that is just myself and my WiFi or for everyone. 👋
Dj Paco True DMX uses a data signals to talk to your DMX fixtures to perform various commands with precision and accuracy. XLR cables are like RCA cables with the red and white wires inside that are only made to transfer audio signals. If you did try and use them, your setup and light shows can lag or have glitches in how synchronized your moving heads move, possibly even ruin your DMX lighting fixtures. Now using DMX as a XLR you are sending your audio signals through data cables which I can only assume would drop the quality of sound to your speakers because audio and data signals are two entirely different things. DMX is for data signals, XLR is for audio signals. Protect your equipment, get the right cables for the right job and your equipment should last a lifetime.
Generally if you are in a pinch and its a short distance, you CAN use XLR or DMX cables. The degradation comes from the distance of the cable. The longer the cable it is, the more likely you are going to run into problems. Does it work? Yeah. But personally I would not recommend it unless you run into an issue at a job and you HAVE to use one, which can happen.
if your using cdj 2000's then you shouldn't really need the rane box. They're compatible with HID mode so all you need to do is connect the computer to the usb input on the cdj's and the mixer, then just hit link on the cdjs when pairing. from there you just connect the cdjs into line on the mixer. way more easier than setting up the rane box, in my opinion.
Do you hace Sommer Cable in the US? By the looks of these Hosa Cables, I don't think that they are worth their price, can be wrong, never had one in my hands but by seeing how they bend and by their texture, they seem to me like china cables with expensive marketing.
All the cables in the video are very budget-friendly. The Pro series in particular has a jacket that is very bendable, non-tangle, both while being extremely durable. It also helps protect the shielding much better than most plastic jackets on budget cables, at least in the case of the mic cables (which use shielding). Our Edge series is a high end cable so not everyone needs or has a budget for that. While Edge uses genuine gold-plated Neutrik connectors, the Pro series uses Silver REAN connectors, that are also made by Neutrik.
Tyler Rogers Right. From a casual listener perspective, you’re more likely to hear differences in high end than low end actually. I’ve always considered top speaker quality a matter of preference but the casual party listener is not normally concerned about something like that. That’s not saying we should not get quality equipment though. That’s kind of why I don’t nock speakers all too much. They are still a needed, but step investment for a lot of mobile guys.
Some things: -Never instal a speaker on a speakerstandbetween a sub and a top without holding im, you'll break the iron. -you don't have to use DMX cables, after 10 fixtures is de signal weak but you can put a endstop on it. Otherwise you can use a DMX booster and you can link 200 fixtures on XLR without any problems. -make a difference in electricity groups between lights, special FX and audio. For the rest are you a bit to unprofessional with your stuff but that's youre business.

Good job bro😎👍
Your my inspiration man
Thanks Barn, people dont realise how much info you are just throwing out in this one video. Now i know how to set up lights and not just sound.
Hosa. Noted. Ps always starts by power and then DMX.
I always use black connectors on xlr cables and silver connectors on DMX cables
Bar esas llantitas en los subs vos se las agregastes o venian asi?
TRACTOR FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!
Also, how much power does your system draw when you use your subs and full lighting rig?
How do you mount the American Dj stinger to the speaker poles
Thank you learned a lot!
I’m glad I don’t have to rely on buying cables, I typically make my own cables from USA quality cords not China made. XLR and DMX is essentially the same cable, but the grounding is different.
Good DJ
When you are doing a setup with your subs coupled how do you hook the speakers up?
Sweet
Love your stuff. What is the mic stand you use in your setup?
Is that movinghead Nice?
Can you connect any AC power cord for your speakers?
You plug in lights and sound on the same circuit?
Does the DMX bridge work for the cheaper Amazon lights?
Where do you get your totem scrims, façade, and if you have a discount/wholesaler for your lights? I’d like to add on when my budget can afford it. Thanks!

Hosa Rocks
Alright what’s that song that’s playing in the background with the train whistle? Gonna be whistling that now because it’s now stuck in my head. 😂
Hey! Why would you use a sound interface? you have a MacBook sitting on top so if you link youre players via Ethernet. and use only a usb cable to connect to one of the cdi's you can easily use rekordboks
He uses Serato DJ which for mobile guys is pretty much industry standard for us. Ethernet does not work in Serato.
Para mí los cables Roland black series me parece que son. También de buena calidad . Has un rewiev de esos.
Hosa in tha house!!

Not vital but advisable is a DMX terminator to go in the end of the chain to avoid interference

Joe Chalmers yes, I noticed it too - I think it might have been an editing error... 🤔 not sure what happened
Bayardo A Rugama despite that, I thought the video was really funny and I enjoyed watching it!
i've noticed in your vis that you usually place your speakers behind you. Why is that ?
Can you do a video on DJ insurance?
DJN aka Disc Jockey News has this topic already covered in vast detail and is a supporter of this channel. I would recommend going there.
That edge cable is strictly mic use only. you should know that by looking at it.
What’s the background music
What happens if you use dmx cables as an xlr??

Everything in your rig is great... except the Peavey speakers.
Peavey speakers are perfectly fine.
VJ Joe Lewis unless you value sonic quality. For the similar money you can get a set of Qsc, Bose, Yorkville, jbl, ev etc that sound so much better.

Use wireless dmx bro! Much easier
You should really be using SOOW extension cables instead.
