Surely it can handle more than 5 tons?

Surely, it can! I did today hauling a bunch of 40 inch diameter pine logs! My guess is about 20,000 lbs. I believe the highway rating is actually 10 tons but is de-rated for off-road. The center of gravity is super high with the bed so high up and the suspension and tires with that kind of weight in it is all kinds of squishy! Gotta really watch the off camber stuff with a heavy load but otherwise has plenty of power to climb up really steep stuff and killer brakes. Thanks for stopping by!

@@cowboyV2 Yes yes. That makes sense. Its a decent size bed but with very small sidewalls and only a 5 ton/5 yard) rating so some of these $30k+ asking prices seem a bit ridiculous compared to a civilian dump

I paid about $10k for mine but had to wait for an EUC. Bought on govplanet. The hydraulic scissor mechanism is all the way back on the bed at a terrific mechanical disadvantage. Really limits dumping capacity. I’ve loaded the bed to spilling over with dirt and it won’t dump. Thought about putting a telescoping cylinder and regular dump bed on it but it would really take too much weight for tires and suspension. If the ground is level, roads tame and no mud, conventional dump is the way to go. This truck will go almost anywhere though so if can limit load it is super handy off road. For high volume off road, Volvo rock truck would be next step up. Are you looking for an off road dump?
