Woman fighting severe health problems starts new job and a Secret Santa has a surprise for her

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season.
Cristy developed what is likely an autoimmune disease after she turned 30. She was perfectly healthy with three young kids and then suddenly, she couldn’t move her body while her nervous system was attacked. She nearly died.
After being in several hospitals for about a year, Cristy was able to finally go home but her life would be forever changed. Using a walker and not able to drive her kids around, lift them, or walk unassisted, she could no longer run, dance, drive, hike or do all the things most of us take for granted.
Through it all, Cristy has developed a strong and positive attitude that she’ll do whatever she can to put herself out there in life and come out on top - especially for her kids. After searching and applying for jobs to support herself, she finally found a job at Bonneville High School a couple weeks ago. She is so excited. She comes home completely exhausted after being on her walker all day but the kids and staff at Bonneville have been amazing to her.
She is doing everything she can to be successful and try and support herself.
Secret Santa asked if we could pay Cristy a visit at her new job and surprise her with some gifts. Check out the video in the player above.

Find a nearby drug rehab/domestic violence recovery living facility. For me its called the Downtown Womens Center they have several houses where they help women going through some type of recovery usually its getting them to the path of sobriety while providing a safe home to live. They have several apartment style living facilities. Places like that love people that will provide for a Secret Santa program, and all you have to do is get in contact with someone in the office. It makes you feel good for sure.
I set aside some money each year and give it to the car mechanic where I get my work done on my car. I tell him to use it to reduce the bill for a single mom or other person who is having trouble coming up with the money to pay their repair bill. There are lots of ways to be a secret Santa.

I regularly donate anonymously or sometimes I use the names of loved ones to causes dear to me such as those that cater to children or abused women or calamity-stricken people. However, I want you to know that you don't need huge amount of money to do this, you can be a Santa to others so long as you do and give what you can or what's commensurate to your capacity with LOTS of LOVE.
I know her personally. Goes to church with me every week. Good friend of mine. Amazing person.

I would like to send a HUGE "Thank You" to 'Bonneville High School', for stepping up and providing this amazing woman with a job! I imagine that being able to work again, provides this lady with an overwhelming joy and sense of purpose.
Second that, i wish my job was that accommodating when my disease progressed. They weren’t, now i am stuck on disability.

Half the people I know who receive disability have far better health than her. What a noble, inspirational woman.
I was married to one on 100% disability, yet she could carry several 44-bottle cases of water from her trunk to her house one at a time.
While I do applaud her for working you don't always know how a person is really doing with their disability/ies. I'm someone who is disabled & chronically ill & wouldn't say that about anyone else. I worked my butt off as long as I could being disabled since birth but no longer can. It's not always visible to others so let's be kind not assuming everyone can see what a person is really going through and there are various levels of severity that is none of our business their private medical info.

My DIL’s sister was struck down when her baby was only six weeks old. I know what a tremendous fight this Cristy had it’s by no means an easy recovery, but she has not lost her ability to smile. Thank you Secret Santa for honouring her this way

This is one of the best ever. A woman with severe health issues that could have had a pity party, perhaps gone on disability but is instead out there doing what she can to provide for herself and her family. These are the people that deserve a hand up since they aren't seeking a hand out. Never under estimate the honor and dignity of work. And what a great role model for the students.

What I love about this woman is her drive to find a job and want to keep moving. She's adorable. I believe she's not going to always need that walker, my faith is her body will heal herself, my prays, hugs and love go out to the radiant smile and that positive attitude!!!!

Christie is an amazing woman with a smile that lights up the world. She has been through so much but has not let that stop her. Her attitude and joyous spirit is contagious. I've been seriously ill for 3 years, at the worst being unable to speak or walk across a small room without my system flaring up in pain, coughing fits, extreme fatigue and brain fog. At my worst, people said it sounded like I had a stroke when I spoke. I've been working hard with physical therapy and had a surgery as well. I'm getting better but will probably never get back to how things were before. This wonderful lady gives me hope as I start to look at jobs and possibly going to school. To see how tough and amazing she is and that she found a place that would accommodate really gives me hope. I wish her all the best in the world.

Sounds a lot like my wife. She has something wrong with her thyroid which causes high calcium blood levels. She is having surgery in a few days to correct it. Not sure what surgery you had but might be something to check out, good luck to you .

This is very inspiring. I am so thankful she is doing well. One can understand how hard it is to have health issues and lose hope and faith. Holidays are difficult for some who lose loved ones. We aren't all okay some days. What a joy it is to see her happy.

Such a wonderful attitude. It sounds like she contracted Guillain-Barré syndrome. I know a young woman who had this. It took several years but she can now walk completely unaided and has fully recovered. Hopefully, Christy will have a full recovery, too.
There are a lot of variations of GBS. I had it but not the type that paralyzes your arms and legs. Some people die from it. Mine was nothing compared to most folks. I came down with GBS years ago, after a bout with the flu. Not the vaccine, the flu itself.

I’ve lived it too and it’s absolutely awful!!! One day out of the blue an autoimmune disease attacked my body and wreaked havoc on my body for almost 5 years. Thank god for healing..almost 5 years of living my life again

Wow what a upbeat woman, especially what life has dealt here. Not every day you see a person that grateful. Dang I'm teared up bad. I was hand a disabling disease about 3 years ago, had to learn to walk again. I was working at my dream job and life said your done. However I am not as young as she is. Cudos to Nate and that Santa. Well I got to dry my eyes.

I hope someone will be able to take her to work or home now and then... even a couple days a week would take that burden off her. I live in Seattle so can get an uber any time of day... I can't imagine being in a smaller city and having to get to work on time relying on one. I wish her luck and glad she found a job that appreciates her as much as she seems to be enjoying it!
