This is the kind of music I used to seek back in the mid- 80's. This is today's underground. People that say there is no good music today aren't digging hard enough.
I’m late but here’s my view. You say it’s the music you seemed for in the 80s which means this music is almost 30 years old already. That’s what we mean when we say there’s no good music anymore, there are no new genuine music that’s outstanding, what’s good happens to be old music only played by new artists. But nothing truly new.
I love the surreality of their sound. It kind of adds an airy freedom behind the crashy guitars. Soothing and exciting at the same time. You've gotta love a band that has depth.
I never meant for you to get hurt, And how I tried, Oh how I tried. I could never give you just what you deserved, Another man, would surely learn. I know these words, they only serve to twist the knife, but I'll strive, to make them heard. Maybe it's better now I've gone away, Maybe it's not, Oh who can say. And though it's hard, for me to say, I know you're better off this way. And when I told her I didn't love her anymore, She cried. And when I told her, her kisses were not like before, She cried. And when I told her another girl had caught my eye, She cried. And I kissed her, with a kiss that could only mean goodbye. And though it's hard, for me to say, Maybe you're better off this way. And though it's hard, for me to say, I know you're better off this way. Get away, Get away, Get away, Get away, Get away, Get away
+Calm Clam> Howard was 3 years old when Jay & the Americans did "She Cried." The song came out in 1962. Part of the Brill Building inventory. No punk, just ballad and lush strings.
This entire disc is one of the best of 2009. NME was right on when they picked it as tops. Wish the US "alternative" stations would catch on! Go HORRORS!
I just wanted to say that this is one of the best songs I've heard in years... And I just loved to see them in Brazil, having taken photos with them, they're cool!!!
The lyrics of this song sound exactly like my ex who I was deeply in love with He's glad to announce his weakness like it's a strength The inability to love anyone. Like it's something to be proud of. When in reality, those sort of people don't deserve any sort of love or attention. Because they spend their life destroying others.
bruh, "Oh how I tried" He knows he has hurt others, he wanted/hoped to make this one different. animals aren't meant to be monogamist. He tried. He thought he could do it this time. He failed. He's now being honest and upfront with his SO. Sorry you were hurt.
@@yroe12 Thank you! I don't think the "another girl had caught my eye" line implies they're proud of breaking their heart and mean to put it on display. Nor that it means they "live to destroy others". Shit happens and things don't work out. It's just a brutal truth, a truth that puts an instant end to all the possible what if's and maybe's. It's raw, ugly, unpleasant and honest, just like every other breakup. At least it's honest, unlike every other breakup.
hard to believe mere mortals can make something this goosebump-inducingly amazing! hard to believe a band can improve so much over the course of two albums!
I love how people come and comment "that song is from of Jay and The Americans" YOU DONT SAY? Its on porpuse, even the official wikipedia and fan page states the lyrics are from "She Cried". People who come and try to be all " omg they are stealing!" NOPE. they got permission to use the lyrics, even the fans know who the author of the song is, so youre just making a fool of yourself by trying to make them look like the stole something they obviously got permission to use.

Copia? :D
I just discovered The Horrors and I really couldn't be anymore stoked! Total Joy Divison / My Bloody Valentine-esque, especially with that main synth! it sounds like "Love Will Tear Us Apart" or "When you Sleep"... all in all this has to be one of my new favorites.

Absolutely there were good music 12 years ago but not now. Not at all!

I was born in 2002, and can say I think you guys generation had it good in terms of 'mainstream' music exposure!
These guys are perfect.
Shoegaze, ambient, dark wave, industrial, etc.
Great mix of my favorite sounds!!!!
The horrors deserve more attention!! They are awesome
Uh? Are you kidding me? 3 million and a 1/3 views on this song alone means it's popular.
3 million and 1/3 views means they'repopular not unpopular.

One of the best post punk- indie bands of all time. Their first album is amazing too
Man, I love this song. The keyboards are fucking awesome.
I miss the time when they used to release music regularly, they are such an awesome with undeniable charms and uniqueness 😢

Still loving this one, much more after their live.. Beautiful as hell
Thank you for this master piece! After all this time. Who can say?
Just amazing.
This shi was on replay when I was a teen. Good times baby. Still good times. I love music.
Heard this song again for the first time in many years. Flashbacks of driving around as an angry teenager. Still a powerful song.
Whatever the reason, it doesn't change the fact that their music is brilliant. And I came here for the music. :)
this is the best rock band that I have heard since I first heard the Pixies back in the late 80's. Rock and Roll is back - one great band exists
I could listen to the spoken bit forever
found it in my old playlist in 2024, still a great song ❤️❤️
man this song does break my heart so deeply

I like how the fast paced guitar and drums juxtapose the slow melodic singing in almost perfect composition.

there will always be punks who think you stole something, even if you got permission. I mean c'mon, hip hop's foundation is from the sampling
That makes perfect sense, 'cause I don't think that a girl from this days would cry, she would just slap you right in your face, or maybe worst...

I can say, that this is awesome, simply awesome.
The monologue/spoken part feels a lot like a Jarvis Cocker hand-me-down. But then again, everybody will have their masters.
BilisNegra It is actually a straight rip from "She Cried" by Jay and the Americans.
It reminds me more of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
