I discovered this song and The Horrors in 2011 thanks to tumblr, till this day- one of my ever favorites. Heard it live in 2014 at Opener Festival in Gdynia, Poland. Amazing experience. ❤

I’m dumbfounded that this was first uploaded 13 years ago! I found out about these fellows in my freshman year of high school, they really captured the dusky ethereality and romance of 80s alternative that was making a comeback at the time. Kinda miss those days, everything seemed a little more wide-open then. Outstanding song.
A dude I know named Stefan showed me this masterpiece during an acid trip . I'll never forget it. I didn't know you much Stef but I wish you all the peace with our Creator. ❤
The horrors really have grown on me. I didn't know who the fuck they were until recently and impulse bought all four of their albums and love them all.
I think this song makes me feel the way you can always get ahead in life in the end, despite the ups and downs and the darkness. It is the mystical transit, the final calm part is as if they told you "you already understood everything"
Some say we walk alone Barefoot on wicked stone, no light And sanctuary found never waits around awhile Marching to the sea Their dreams stay in the shadows Their dreams stay firmly rooted in the shallows See the scraping sky See my destination there tonight So say I walk alone, barefoot On wicked stone tonight Will you leap to follow Will you turn and go Will your dreams stay rooted in the shallows See the scraping sky Far beyond the shallows Far beyond the reaches of the shadows Though youth may fade with boyhood's cares New fear will catch us unawares I know it will So you might say The path we share is one of danger And of fear Until the end
Hi, we are surftons, a post-punk influenced indie band. Please have a visit to our channel and listen to our new song, another new songs will be coming soon, Thank you very much. Have a good times.
This, November Rain and Toys ‘Kopter’ are my favourite outros ever. This song is an utter masterpiece and, for me, by an absolute distance, the greatest song of this millennium.
I can't even begin to explain the feelings I get when I listen to this...absolute chills. The ending leaves me this bittersweet feeling of overwhelming joy. Masterpiece.
I drive for Uber and once in a while people get to hear this song in the back seat and just get quiet for several minutes and they always seem a little different when they get out of the car than they did when they got in.
Actually really clever. You should make a before/after series, a few seconds here or there, with selfie cam pointed over the e-brake/console to them for a whole set of songs 'x' to songs 'y', stitch it all together after embedded links to the original songs in question.
I think that this video is inspired by a Pink Floyd appearance in BBC 1, playing Pow R TOC and Astronomy Domine. The look of Faris Badwan, some gestures, like raising his arms, the lights, etc resembles Syd Barrett a lot. Also, the host introduction resembles BBCs host Hans Keller on that occasion. Last, the first part of the song drums and bass line seems inspired by the 2 firts songs from LP The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

Never before and I can probably safely say never again will one song completely change my opinion on a band. Remember thinking this band was absolute garbage after listening to their first album and then out of pure curiosity I listened to this when it dropped and it blew my tiny little mind into more than 999 pieces. And happily ever after I've seen them countless times live and it's been a joy to watch them evolve. Oh, the horrors.
Exact same experience as this for me. I think they're the only band I've ever booed off when I saw them as a support act. Thought they were abysmal. Then I heard this, bloody hell.
"Some say we walk alone Barefoot on wicked stone, no light And sanctuary found never waits around awhile Marching to the sea Their dreams stay in the shadows Their dreams stay firmly rooted in the shallows See the scraping sky See my destination there tonight So say I walk alone, barefoot On wicked stone tonight Will you leap to follow Will you turn and go Will your dreams stay rooted in the shallows See the scraping sky Far beyond the shallows Far beyond the reaches of the shadows Though youth may fade with boyhood's cares New fear will catch us unawares I know it will So you might say The path we share is one of danger And of fear Until the end"
This track means a lot more than many people think. One of the masterpieces on all music scene of 21st century. I’m happy to know this track on my life. Thanks The Horrors.
This is seriously such an amazing piece it never feels long enough. It brings out good emotions. The build up and last few minutes are like a sweet release that leaves you feeling ok about your life because it's just a sea within a sea. This song is so special to me
this is how bands like joy division used to be presented in the 80's i just love it they deserve it, and whats even more amazing is that new order and the horrors played together this november. they are definetly on another level ,this song in particular sounds so much like joy division, even the way he sang and wrote the song. awesome!
Gran tema de una muy buena banda, que no ha tenido mucha difusión en mi país (por no adecuarse al grupo comercial) sin embargo tienen una calidad muy superior a la basura con que nos inundan en la actualidad. Excelente aporte.
I actually got to hang out with all of them after a show in Dallas. Joe actually asked his crew to go into their truck and give me his sticks, and signed them
This has always been my favourite song. Finally got to see the Horrors in Thailand last year - my sister commented on their Instagram that we were flying from Australia to go see them. They actually replied back, and at the show they dedicated this song to the two girls who came from Australia to see them. The show was on my birthday too - it literally does not get any better.
Kaleidoscopicism “Elegia” by new order, “Lope” and “Things we never did” by Sad lovers & Giants, “on my own” by Ulrich Schnauss, “the weight of my words- Four tet remix”, “Lady dada’s nightmare” by MGMT
