This is great, but it would be awesome if Google would add a feature allowing you to embed audio that has been recorded into a question, like adding audio to a slide in Google Slides. Opening and switching between tabs can be very challenging for students with learning disabilities or motor impairments.
Thank you for this. How would I then locate the submission? Also, do those submitting an audio file have to have a Gmail account in order to access or submit audio files?
Great video Karen. Have you considered uploading the audio into TH-cam together with an image or generic video. Then in the edit studio within TH-cam, you can select the audio file to start and stop as you decide. Then, once the video has been processed by TH-cam, you'll be able to add the link or embed code into a Google Form so that the student doesn't need to leave the form in order to listen to the audio file in another tab. They can instead just listen to the audio by playing the video. Also, when you put the link into the title text field, you also have the option of using the description option to add the instructions. The text will appear smaller but the link will stand-out more prominently. I sometimes use an image section and upload a graphic of someone pointing upwards with my chosen call-to-action text placed within the image itself (e.g. "CLICK THE LINK ABOVE"). Then, I use the image title text box to add the url link. It looks fairly good. I say all this in full knowledge that you are probably well-aware of these options. I love your ideas and hope to see more videos from you. Hello all the way from London, UK!
Excellent idea Rax. In the context of teaching educators in my district, I was looking for something with as few as tools as possible. The teachers are pretty savvy, but may not have the ability to navigate TH-cam audio insertion. However, you have identified the potential hang-point with students: that second tab. For the purpose of listening straight through, your suggestion would work.
In my district, we use WeVideo. There are other options: Screencastify, Awesome Screenshot & Screen Recorder, Google Keep will also allow voice recording and are available in Extensions. Seesaw and Flipgrid are also options. Some of these may fit your needs. There are other apps I'm sure that exist.
Why is Google not allowing embed audio? It's unpractical to go back and forth between tabs. People won't do that unless they really have to.

Totally agree. I have many students who would benefit from such a feature
you can do that if you upload the audio / video directly on yt. It's a bit time-consuming though
You can add audio to a Slide deck by Insert>Audio>Select where your source audio resides.
In Google Slides we have a specific link bottom for the sound file. Why not in Google Analyzer?

Gorgeous. I have been waiting for this for ages.

What do you have students use to create audio files on chromebooks?
