  • As patch 10.2.5 draws in for Dragonflight, and we begin to head into The World Soul Saga and a new era for World of Warcraft, Dragonflight has been an expansion that fixed a lot of issues with Retail WoW, whilst also still having some issues itself. So, just how will Dragonflight be looked back upon as an expansion for Retail WoW? Let's find out.

    What are your thoughts on Dragonflight as a whole expansion? 🤔

    It was a chill expansion and it needed to be tbh, especially after 3 expansions of bullshit

    I think not having to grind reputation for playerpower was pretty good, some of the dungeons were really annoying

      I agree, it felt nice and natural when gearing up & although dungeons were a bit lacklustre I still really liked Dawn of the Infinite and Timewalking has made up the missing space for general dungeon runs for me 😊

    It was fun. I liked the questing, dragon riding, talent trees, etc.
    But I care so little about the story I don't even know what it is after Razegath.
    Good video.

      I think the story wasn't too coherent as they chopped & changed it a little, assuming from when they made plans for The World Soul Saga maybe. Fyrakk being a big bad guy made of fire who wanted to set the world on fire did make a pretty nice and simplistic end to the expansion though.
      Thanks for the kind words, appreciate it!

    Overall it was decent. It kinda went low on plot and more on Worldbuilding and Restoration then previous Addons, but then thats fine considering we faced World Ending Events 1 after another. And while Amadrassil was close to becoming one too, it felt more like a stopping the personal ambitions of of some1 going mad then saving the World. It also seems more setup for future plots then rather a story from start to finish. And it still had some nice story bits here and there
    There was a big push for more Open World Content and while it was lacking in variety, the rewards were this time actually worth it for Twinks. The craciest addition was the 3rd Evoker Specc. This literally never happend before. While you could argue that Druid got a specc added, it was more of an adjustment to the more rigid role system then a really new specc. And it even filled a new role wich was also something i really didnt expect they would even try at this point. The Evoker itself i think needs some rethinking, it feels a bit barebone to play at points, and there needs to be improvment to the Evokers appearence system.
    Yeah overall, a lot of good stuff, a lot of okay stuff and not much that really annoyed me. Definitly looking forward to War Within

      I think your last note is pretty relatable for a lot of people (myself included) - enough okay stuff overall & leaves us in a good place for TWW.
      And yeah I like your take on Amirdrassil (the personal ambition of Fyrakk): it did feel like we didn’t have as many world ending events which was quite a nice change up, otherwise they lose their touch.

    raid wise I will say this, it is a giant shame that blizzard did not use the fated season to introduce a surprise mini raid to tie up dragonflight properly and connect to war within. the friends together end of amirdrassil has been memed into oblivion but it just isnt a good way to end the expansion. as far as the mechanics of the raids i enjoyed most of the raid bosses in DF. f smolderon and echo and razageth though.
    story wise we lacked a compelling villan and real stakes. started off good with the release of the incarnates but went off into the deep end with sarkareth and fyrakk instead of iridikron and the other two coming at us all together.
    Mythic plus for me (im not a 25+ player so my insight is limited on the high end) m+ was hit and miss. fist season was sometimes frustrating but overall doable, second season was so bad especially as a healer that i bounced, third season though for me has been wonderful. a stress free journey to 2500 rating and basically easy +20 keys every week. that's how i like m+ up to the 20s. challenge should be for people doing 25 and up. but yeah season 3 has been great.
    zones were great for the most part. caverns were annoying and bad. basically season 1 and 3 were good but season 2 had problems is my feeling
    as for everything else it has been a hit for me. dragonflying was top notch, crafting was interesting but needs major refining to be truly great, talent trees were awesome and the faction reputation systems is imo waaaay better than the old ones or god forbid shadowlands YUCK.
    it's a mixed bag 6.5/10

    • @SmoothjazGamingTV
      @SmoothjazGamingTV  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you hit a fair few points on the head there quite well - one thing I actually thought about when you mentioned zones was how annoying dragonriding is on the Timeless Isle (i.e. tree branches being the main villain of the isle).
      I'd agree mixed bag and about 6.5 too!

    DF was "'ok''. The raids got better each patch, but some of the dungeons were shit. No real open world content. Class reworks were alright, although Monks have been neglected hard. The story was whatever, but not as bad as SL. Dragonflying is good, but you don't see 90% of the world you're in. The profession system was a good attempt, but imo it's ridiculous and backwards to use. I'm mixed about this expansion, but for the most part it's playable.
    Oh and the legendaries. Fuck the legendaries. One had a gamewide announcement that had people make weakauras to NOT have to see it. The other has a terrible effect and an even worse grind to get it. Big swing in the miss.

      You make a pretty good point about dungeons - besides Dawn of the Infinite, they were generally pretty forgettable and I’d say at most 2-3 “okay” dungeons. Did feel like a bit of a hole in the expansion for me, that’s true.

    This is the first time since i started back in mid TBC I have yet to touch an expansion. Shadowlands bore me and dragonflight went way to lame to care. I miss the bit gritterer wow

    • @SmoothjazGamingTV
      @SmoothjazGamingTV  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dragonflight certainly has had issues with its themes and cinematics, but I think there was still a lot to show steps in the right direction by the end.
      Hopefully we get more consistency in The World Soul Saga, and a return to those grittier themes that a lot of wow players (myself included) do miss.

    • @maxpowers4436
      @maxpowers4436 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Grittier part of wow" Literally never existed. WoW has never been gritty this is some weird perception the fans have because when they were younger they thought edgy was gritty. When wow came out 20 years ago it was literally called cartoon POS mmo for babies. Because of its artstyle and casual gameplay.

  • @Grimdork713

    Gameplay is ok. Better than shadowlands. Storywise DF is a total crap. I dont care about anybody in the story and why do all characters sound like they are gonna cry in every situation? I just cant connect with this world Ive been in for 15+ years anymore.

    • @SmoothjazGamingTV
      @SmoothjazGamingTV  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, I agree with you. Like I mentioned in the video, the main characters were really lacklustre. I think they must have changed storylines plans when The World Soul Saga plans began as lots of chopping/changing.
      I enjoyed Aberrus as the conversations between Neltharion and his sons felt more like normal Warcraft.
      I also quite like Fyrakk, his character felt very back to basics (i.e big fire man is evil).
      Hopefully moving forward, they stay away from main characters feeling like they’re always about to cry like you say.
      Ironically, I felt The War Within cinematic where Anduin is emotional is the only time in recent WoW that showing emotion has worked. Helps showing the gigantic sword at the end too.
